Leetonia – Richard Elrod, no age or address listed, was charged with theft after officers at 6:49 p.m. Sept. 14 observed him enter a Hazel Street business knowing him to routinely steal merchandise due to having being previously employed there and knowing the security camera placement. Weaver, 51, Winona Road, Salem, on state Route 558 was struck by the side mirror of a westbound truck which continued from the scene. While en route, dispatch advised the deputy that the person was with a family member at Dollar General.
