Highway Patrol
-- A hit/skip was reported at 9:10 a.m. Sept. 17 in Fairfield Township when the side mirror on an eastbound vehicle driven by Derrin D. Weaver, 51, Winona Road, Salem, on state Route 558 was struck by the side mirror of a westbound truck which continued from the scene. No injury was reported.
-- A 16-year-old Wellsville girl was cited for reasonable control after losing control of her southbound vehicle which traveled off of the left state of state Route 164 in Wayne Township and struck a ditch at 10:17 p.m. Sept. 16. No injury was reported.
-- A semi truck traveled through a private alley way and struck low hanging wires, continued through a yard and struck mailboxes before coming back onto Georgetown Road and fleeing in a hit/skip at 2:29 p.m. Sept. 16 in Knox Township.
-- Angel M. Gonzalez Ozoria, 22, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., was cited for marked lanes after driving a truck off of the right side of U.S. Route 62 and damaging a yard at 4:48 p.m. Sept. 14 in Perry Township. No injury was reported.
Salem
-- A fight was reported in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:23 p.m. Thursday. The victim advised that they had been assaulted, and their earrings had been ripped out and damaged. The other party had already left prior to officers' arrival. Officers gathered all information and took photos. The matter will be under investigation.
-- A neighbor dispute was reported in the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 7:46 p.m. Thursday. The caller advised that a neighbor had attempted to hit them with a bat. Officers gathered information and will forward it to the prosecutor's office for review. No injuries were reported.
-- Criminal damaging was reported in the 1400 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:19 p.m. Thursday. Officers observed the pad lock of a shed had been broken into and photographed the damage.
-- Multiple electric dirt bikes were observed in Sebo Stadium at 6:42 p.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with the juvenile riders and had their parents respond to the scene to pick up the bikes. Once the parents arrived, officers explained the laws regarding electric dirt bikes to both the juveniles and their parents.
-- Shots fired were reported in the area of Allen Road and Salem Parkway at 6:12 p.m. Thursday. Officers checked the area but did not observe anything unusual. Officers spoke with employees at a local business who advised that they had heard multiple shots but were unsure of what direction they came from. Officers advised the employees to call the department if they heard them again.
-- An intoxicated person was reported in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and East State Street at 5:14 p.m. Thursday. Officers located the woman in question and gave them a ride back to their residence. The woman was also issued a warning for disorderly conduct.
-- A reckless driver was reported in the area of West State Street and South Howard Avenue at 3:49 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle was located and officers observed no signs of impairment. The driver was advised of the complaint.
-- Officers conducted a traffic stop on a juvenile riding an electric scooter that failed to stop at a stop sign in the 900 block of Sunset Boulevard at 4:45 p.m. Thursday. The juvenile was advised that they needed to obey traffic laws while riding a scooter on the roadway, and the juvenile was issued a verbal warning for the violation.
-- A cat was reported to have been abandoned in the 900 block of Prospect Street at 2:43 p.m. Thursday. Officers located a cat in a carrier sitting in the weeds and shortly after officers arrived, the Columbiana County humane agent arrived to pick up the cat.
-- A landlord tenant dispute was reported in the 1300 block of East State Street at 11:26 a.m. Thursday. Officers were advised the landlord had gotten into the caller's face and told them they had to be out by noon. Officers found that the person in question did not actually reside at the residence and was temporarily staying with a friend. The caller was advised they could no longer be on the property.
-- A person reportedly approaching people and asking for money was reported in the first block of Elm Avenue at 10:33 a.m. Thursday. Officers located the person in question on West Pershing Street, who denied asking anyone for money and advised that he was on his way to a friend's residence nearby.
-- A property dispute between a business and a former employee was reported in the 200 block of East State Street at 8:31 a.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with the former employee, who returned all the business's property without issue.
-- Trespassing was reported in the 700 block of Summit Street at 9:12 p.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that a person who was not welcome on their property had been observed near their garage. The person had left prior to officers' arrival, and the caller requested an extra watch on the property.
-- A fight was reported in the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that a man and woman were fighting in the street and requested officers check on the welfare of a small child. Officers spoke with both parties, who advised that there was no fight. Officers also checked on the child and confirmed they were okay.
-- A child custody dispute was reported in the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 8:32 p.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that their ex-wife had not returned their children when agreed upon in their court order and was not returning his calls or text messages. Officers advised the caller that a report would be on file. Officers also contacted the mother, who advised that she was driving, and was bringing the juveniles home.
-- A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 300 block of West State Street at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that a patron was in the drive thru with a child not in a car seat. The vehicle left prior to officers' arrival, but officers were provided with their information. Officers responded to the person's residence and advised them of the complaint, and they advised that she had been feeding her child while waiting in the drive thru line. Officers advised them to keep the child in their car seat while in the vehicle.
-- A delinquent juvenile was reported in the 100 block of South Union Avenue at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday. The juvenile, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody for delinquency and transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for minor injuries that occurred during the delinquent behavior. Medical staff determined that the juvenile needed to be transported to another facility, and officers released the juvenile to his parents and medical staff. Charges will be forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor's office.
-- Melissa McCulley, 44, Salineville, was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with theft and criminal trespass for allegedly failing to pay for multiple items totaling $104.73 in value at a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday. After being taken into custody it was found that McCulley had previously been trespassed from two other locations of the same business.
-- Criminal trespassing was reported in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:09 p.m. Wednesday. The caller advised officers that someone had entered their apartment without permission previously, and that a maintenance person had entered the apartment without permission or prior notice that morning. The caller requested officers follow up with the office manager to ensure that landlord tenant laws regarding notification of entry are followed to prevent any future issues. Officers will follow up with them in the near future.
-- Residents getting into a verbal altercation and making threats of violence were reported at a medical facility in the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 7:46 a.m. Wednesday. Faculty had separated the residents prior to officers' arrival, and the facility requested that the matter be documented for the state. The facility was provided with a report number.
-- A person attempting to leave with a wheelchair was reported at the Salem Regional Medical Center at 5:59 a.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, they discovered that the person in question, Joseph Haynes, Columbiana, had an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office, and he was taken into custody for the warrant and transported to the Columbiana County Jail. The wheelchair was returned to the SRMC.
-- A juvenile issue was reported in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue at 9:52 p.m. Tuesday. The juvenile caller advised that he and his grandfather had been in an argument and that he had been shoved. Officers spoke with everyone involved, and they all agreed to go to bed for the evening.
-- The school resource officer was advised of an issue between two students at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday. All information was gathered and the issue is under investigation.
-- The school resource officer was advised of an issue with a student and their behavior on the bus at 10:59 a.m. Tuesday. The officer and school administrators spoke with the student and advised them of the potential consequences that could follow if their behavior continued. The students advised that they understood and would not cause any more issues.
-- Several blankets were reportedly stolen in the 100 block of North Howard Avenue at 4:45 p.m. Monday. The caller advised that the blankets had been taken from the dryer, and they were unsure who may have taken them. The matter is under investigation.
-- Officers spoke with a person by phone at 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 3:29 p.m. Monday. The caller advised that their son was not listening and being disrespectful. Officers advised them of their options.
-- Ted Ingledue, 36, Lisbon, was cited for failure to wear a motorcycle helmet on South Ellsworth Avenue near the railroad tracks at 1:20 p.m. Monday. While Ingledue was being issued the citation, several knives were removed from his person as well as a locked bag he was wearing. K9-Chaz alerted to the presence of narcotic odor on the motorcycle, but Ingledue denied consent to search the bag. An agent from the Columbiana County Drug Enforcement Task Force responded and recovered the bag to apply for a search warrant.
-- Theft was reported in the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 12:06 p.m. Monday. The caller advised their ex-girlfriend has stolen his tattoo equipment. The matter is under investigation.
