Editor: I am am writing in an effort to correct inaccuracies stated in the submission from Karen Seidner of Lisbon titled “Law Should Bite Back at Someone” regarding an incident that happened in August at the Columbiana County Dog Pound. I am the volunteer who was bitten. I applaud and am thankful for Amy Lynn Dowd, Heidi Jo Pecorelli, Jessica Lynn Gordon, the deputies and inmate who came to my aid and Mike Halleck for their immediate actions. Prayers for us all

Editor: With whom does one associate when contemplating communal prayers? Among others, it’s the needy, the destitute, world leaders, and not least of all, the politician. Go to church or the synagogue and you’ll most assuredly hear the minister, priest or rabbi praying on their behalf, week in and week out. Seldom do men of the cloth and their parishioners alike fail to make these standard supplications to God. An exception should be made in the case of the politician. Safety first

Editor: I have been watching the Morning Journal articles concerning the proposed half percent tax increase. I have a few thoughts I would like to share. I have been watching how many calls our emergency technicians are not able to cover through no fault of the personnel. Our fire and emergency technicians also have jobs and families to support along with doing duties in the fire department and most work during the day. Editor: After many years, it was nice to see the city of East Liverpool update into the 21st century by being able to pay your water bill online, however after logging into the information and putting in my credit card information and going through all the hoops, I sadly found out that the company that does their payments wants to charge you $3.99 to pay your bill. I think that’s outrageous considering the electric company and the gas company and most mortgage companies do not charge you anything to pay the bill. Law should bite back at someone

Editor: In August 2018 a volunteer dog walker at the Columbiana County Dog Pound was severely bitten. Personnel from the nearby county jail provided first aid and filed a sheriff’s report. The victim was transported to an out-of-county hospital and required emergency surgery for repair of wounds. The dog was euthanized. Ohio Revised Code 955.261 requires that “no person shall kill a dog that has bitten any person until a (10 day) quarantine period has been completed. Grand-slamming

Editor: Reading newspaper coverage of Lisbon council meetings, it is evident that Councilman Peter Wilson gets slammed nearly every time he brings up a suggestion for saving the village money or for improving the town. Most recently, according to news accounts, Mayor Roger Gallo accused Wilson of “grandstanding” when Wilson suggested council consider the feasibility of having an outside agency handle village income tax collections.
