We need to stand up for America!

To the editor: Hats off to Ohio! Apparently, we are one of the few states that knows how to count. We had our election results visible to the world on election evening! This occurred even though our Secretary of State, Frank LaRosa, sent out millions of unrequested ballot applications. My wife and I returned our unrequested applications with a note that we didn’t request them and would vote the old-fashioned way, secretly and in person. Legally! I am writing this on Thursday night, 48 hours after the polls closed at 7:30 p.m., EST, Eastern Standard Time here in Ohio. Why, in this ...

Letters to the Editor

We thank you Sparkle Market in Lisbon To the editor: I would like to take this opportunity to thank the owners and employees of the Sparkle Market in Lisbon for their many years of service to the community. We at Family Recovery Center have had a long relationship with the store and its management. We thank them for the times they have hired our women to work in the store and give them their first chance of having a real job and becoming responsible members of the community. Secondly, I personally thank the staff for having a great bakery department and the best donuts in the ...

Urges support of Mental Health and Recovery Services levy

To the editor: For some time, Columbiana County voters have graciously voted in favor of the 1.3 mil Mental Health and Recovery Services levy. As we confront this period of great stress and anxiety, the services supported by this levy are needed more than ever. Please join me in continuing this support by voting “yes” for the renewal of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Levy during this election. Remember, Nothing new... Just Renew. Robert Steffen, Chair, Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board

Mayor Berlin supports passage of County Parks levy

To the editor: I would like to express my support for the levy that the Columbiana County Park District has on the ballot on Nov. 3. The voters of Salem have long shown their support for city parks levies because, I believe, they enjoy a well-maintained parks system that provides much needed recreation close to home and they understand how those parks can be an economic development driver.  Many residents of Salem use and enjoy the Greenway Trail for walking and biking. It is my fervent hope that the residents of Salem, and those all across the county, will see the benefits of having ...

Expresses opinion about candidate

To the editor: Since transparency is such a huge issue with people, I’ll state up front that my wife and I have no previous acquaintances with Vito Abruzzino (VA), and that both of us have been friends with Shelley Bergman and her late husband Kim since all of us attended school at United. Even though we are both registered Republicans, we are proud to say that we have always voted for the person we feel has the best qualifications, not their party affiliation. I am also a lifelong resident of Columbiana County and the Winona area. I have never had any issues with John Gamble (JG) ...

A dare for union members to vote for Biden-Harris

To the editor: I dare union members from every union and all employees receiving health insurance from employers to vote for Biden-Harris. Remember when Biden-Harris raised their hands for Medicare for All? Medicare is 80/20. Additional health benefits cost those on Medicare additional money. Also remember Biden thinks Obamacare needs saved. This is my Obamacare nightmare. It first started with Obama’s lie: “If you like your insurance you can keep your insurance.” I was dropped by my insurance the day Obamacare took effect. I had $1,000 deductible. Paid $232 a month and my ...
