— At 12:18 a.m. Dec. 26, police assisted Ohio State Highway Patrol in making contact with someone involved in an incident earlier in the night. Contact was made at a house in the 100 block of West High Street and the person in question was found to no longer live there. A follow-up address could not be obtained.

— A man was reported to be acting violently, breaking things, and threatening self-harm at 12:52 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 300 block of East Washington Street. Police observed broken glass, a thrown Christmas tree, and other thrown items at the residence. They spoke to the man, who said he wished to go to rehab again for alcoholism and agreed to be transported to the hospital.

— A man at the Shale Tavern at 8:36 p.m. Dec. 22 was said to possibly be having a stroke. Police arrived and observed the man to be alert and waited until emergency medical services arrived to transport him to the hospital.

— Police responded to the 100 block of North Jefferson Street at 3:49 p.m. Dec. 22 for a person to be removed from a residence. The resident at the home said they did not want the person there. The person was told to leave and did.

— A vehicle was observed running and occupied at Community Action Agency of Columbiana County at 4:11 a.m. Dec. 19. Police talked to the woman in the car, who said she is an employee who wanted to come into work early due to bad weather and road conditions. Officers assisted the woman inside without further incident.

— Officers assisted Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputies at Smith Oil at 3:22 a.m. Dec. 19 with a man who said he feared being jumped or assaulted at his residence on Brookfield Avenue. The man was given a ride home.

— Police responded to a report of a reckless driver on state Route 164 at 2:02 p.m. Dec. 17. A traffic stop was conducted and the man driving the car appeared fine and was valid. He was given a verbal warning.
