Salem Hunting Club Annual Youth Day

The Salem Hunting Club will host it 43rd Annual Youth Day Saturday. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Events start at 9 a.m. Events continue throughout the day, although 10:15 a.m. is the cut-off time to register for a chance to win an event trophy. Events include: .22 rifle, compound bow, black powder, BB guns and more. All events are under the supervision of experienced range safety officers. Prizes and trophies will be awarded. The event is open to the public for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 15. Food, drinks and T-shirts for each child are included. Winona Memorial Day program

The Winona Area Historical Society will present its annual Memorial Day Program at 3 p.m. Sunday inside the Winona Methodist Church. As always this program is open to the public. The United Local Band under the direction of Nome Baker will be playing a selection of music. Special speakers for this Memorial Day will be: Emma Murray, Chloe Angelo, Kendall Erb and Adelynn Buttream, each expressing what Memorial Day means to her. There will be an Ice Cream Social in the church basement after the program concludes. The change in location is required due to the “Glenn Bennett WWII Memorial Playground being too wet for use.

P.E.R.I. 18 meeting, program

The Public Employee Retirees (P.E.R.I.) of Mahoning County Chapter 18 will meet for a lunch meeting at noon June 2 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 Western Reserve Road. Cost of lunch is $20. Menu is stuffed chicken breast/gravy, au gratin potatoes, glazed carrots, dessert and beverages. Anyone with dietary restrictions should advise the person taking the reservation. Guest Speaker will be John P. Leseganich Sr., president/CEO of Crime Stoppers of Eastern Ohio, which acts as the leading “Intelligence Gathering” organization for all Law Enforcement Agencies, ranging from local police departments, the Mahoning County sheriff, surrounding task force, and federal and state agencies. East Palestine E-Waste Drop Off

An E-Waste Drop Off will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 20 at Centenary Methodist Church, 40 S. Market St., East Palestine, through GreenBoardIT Secure & Sustainable ITAD. Materials accepted free of charge include PCs, laptops, phones, scanners, hard drives, servers, unused printer cartridges/toner, cell phones, stereos, VCR/DVD players, routers, MP3 players, cameras, keyboards, paper shredders, LCD monitors, game consoles/accessories, networking equipment, UPS. Material accepted with a charge include CRT monitors ($20), printers ($10), TVs ($20).

Tops 1341 meeting

Tops 1341 met at at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 11, with Mary Gailey, facilitator, presiding. Dena white was the best loser and Darlene Naukem and Lydia Kraft were the runners up. They chose potato chips and ice cream as the junk foods for the coming week.

The drawing winners were: weight loss and junk foods, White; food chart, Naukem; and Becky Andrews won the 50/50.

Kraft lost weight three weeks in a row. White was three times in the best losers book. Naukem was in the attendance record for 32 weeks. Dorothy Garn now holds the travel box. Gailey won the tortoise/hare contest. The Loser Lotto is ongoing.

Marlene Reynolds presented the program this week. It included articles from AARP, Fear of Falling and Get Lean Faster from Women’s magazine. The articles were read and members shared in a discussion.

The agenda for the next meeting includes: members task responsibilities, member address’s and contact information, and the first reading of the Tops 1341 bylaws.

The meeting opened with pledges and closed with prayer concerns and the Lord’s Prayer.
