Highway Patrol
— A hit/skip was reported at 8:18 a.m. April 27 on U.S. Route 30 in Center Township when an eastbound vehicle driven by Melissa Sue Skidmore, 47, King Street, Minerva, was passing another eastbound vehicle and the other vehicle crossed the center line, causing the Skidmore vehicle to go off of the left side of the road and strike a culvert and utility pole. The report said Skidmore suffered a suspected minor injury, but wasn’t transported.
— William G. Faith, 52, East State Street, Salem, suffered suspected serious injuries after the motorcycle he was riding overturned while he was making a right turn in the parking lot at Kent State Salem at 11:10 a.m. April 26 in Salem Township. The report said Faith was transported by Winona EMS to St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was wearing a helmet. No citation was issued.
Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy was dispatched at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday to Sprucevale Road, Middleton Township for a welfare check on a juvenile. The report was forwarded to Child Protective Services.
— A woman on U.S. Route 30, West Township reported at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday that a man in Canton has her blood pressure medication in his vehicle and will not give it back to her.
— A woman on Boston Street, Salem Township reported at 5:12 p.m. Tuesday that her soon-to-be ex-husband of Youngstown harasses her and threatens to take her to court and get a protection order on her during their custody exchange of their child. She was advised how to get a protection order.
— A deputy took a report on station at 4:24 p.m. Sunday regarding a domestic dispute, asking the person if they needed medical attention or had any injuries and was told no. The person advised they would be filing for a protection order. The deputy then went to Richardson Avenue, Negley to make contact with the other person due to suicidal threats made. The deputy made contact with the person’s relative who said the person was fine and the threats were made in the heat of the moment. The relative said the other person would call the sheriff’s office after arriving home.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue near East Pidgeon Road at 10:27 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Blossom Lane at 9:46 p.m. Monday for a reported unresponsive person. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 5:46 p.m. Monday for a registration violation. An investigation is pending.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:10 p.m. Sunday for a report of public urination. Officers were unable to locate the man in question but collected statement from three witnesses.
— Officers stopped a suspected vehicle that had been accused of stealing from a business at 2:46 p.m. Sunday. Officers stood by until the police department arrived and took over the scene.
— Officers responded to the 31000 block of Salem Alliance Road at 9:01 a.m. Saturday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a possible assault. Officers were unable to locate the person in question.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Goshen Road at 2:16 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver, who advised that they were looking for their brother who had stolen and consumed pills. Dispatch contacted his phone provider to attempt to locate him for safety, and he was located standing in the roadway in the 2000 block of Hampton Place. Officers recovered the prescription bottle and due to the man’s disorientation, EMT responded and transported them to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
