Sheriff’s Office

— A suspicious person with a motorcycle was reported on 12:10 a.m. Friday behind the Rogers Sale on state Route 154, Rogers. He advised a deputy that he just bought the bike and someone was on the way to pick him up. He was told if he’s caught on the road, he’s getting cited the bike will be impounded.

— A K-9 unit was requested at 11:50 p.m. Thursday by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on a traffic stop on state Route 154, Rogers. Another assist was provided to the patrol on state Route 154 at 10:56 p.m. Thursday.

— A domestic was reported at 10:38 p.m. Thursday on Hartley Road, Salem where a woman said a man was being verbally abusive and demanding. She asked him to stop several times and leave her alone and he refused. He stopped and walked away when she called the sheriff’s office. She denied anything physical occurred and talked about the number of weapons in the house. Deputies spoke to both and a refusal was signed.

— A suspicious person was reported at the Damascus Park on Georgetown Damascus Road at 8:19 p.m. Thursday, with the caller reporting a silver van occupied by a woman who seems to be sitting there all the time. He was concerned that she was either living in the van or watching the kids with different intentions. As he was leaving, she appeared to leave. A deputy was familiar with the homeless woman, saying she was harmless and is known to park there or sometimes at Barnett’s. He said she works at a nursing home.

— A deputy was called at 8:35 p.m. Thursday to assist a Washingtonville Police unit on state Route 14 for incident involving about 10 people in a van. Goshen Township was also on the scene.

— A custody issue was reported at 6:50 p.m. Thursday on Spillway Road, Lisbon.

— Suspicious activity was reported at 6:10 p.m. Thursday on Gavers Road, Hanoverton where a woman reported a deer leg and a dead mole in her driveway. She thought someone was messing with her or it was just wildlife.

— A juvenile-related call was reported at 5:28 p.m. Thursday on Creek Road, New Waterford.

— An unruly juvenile was reported at 4 p.m. Thursday on Metz Road, Fairfield Township.

— An Amazon driver requested a welfare check at 2:58 p.m. Thursday on a person they delivered a package to on Quaker Church Road, West Township, due to the person acting paranoid. A deputy spoke with the person, who was fine.

— The principal of Fairhaven School reported at 3:15 p.m. Thursday that she was unable to reach an employee on state Route 558, Columbiana for almost a week and was concerned for her safety. She’s on administrative leave and under investigation for something with children services and they’ve been unable to reach her also. Contact was made with the woman and she said she’s having phone troubles and will call the school.

— A caller at 10:10 a.m. Thursday reported possible menacing of a juvenile by another juvenile who allegedly made threats about shooting up the Opportunity School in Lisbon and he was going to hire someone to rape her.

— A parent advised a deputy at 9:15 a.m. Thursday that two juveniles had an argument which escalated to a physical incident. The deputy checked on the person involved and advised the parent.

— A K-9 unit was deployed at 1:03 a.m. Thursday to assist a patrol unit on state Route 154, Rogers area.

— A deputy returned a call at 5:37 p.m. Monday to a Yellow Creek Township resident regarding neighbor issues at 18th Street Heights. The person was told how to proceed.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 12:52 a.m. Friday for a reported person to be removed. The caller wanted his family member removed from the house and began to scream at officers when they advised that the family members would have to be evicted. Officers advised all parties to cease contact for the night and sober up.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 12:49 a.m. Friday for a report of stolen morphine. Officers spoke with several staff members to collect information, and it was later found that no theft had occurred and that there had been a misunderstanding.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 10:43 p.m. Thursday to speak with a resident about a juvenile taking photos of them inside of their home for a relative. Officers collected information and advised them that an extra watch would be placed on the residence, and to contact the department if the juvenile returned to the property.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:33 p.m. Thursday for a reported intoxicated driver. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and found that the driver was not intoxicated. The driver was issued warnings for the traffic violations.

— Officers responded to the area of West State Street and Dodge Drive at 10:31 p.m. Thursday for a report of reckless operation. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 9 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that someone had said disturbing things while inside the store. A description was given of the person, but nobody present could identify them or their vehicle. Officers advised the caller to contact them if the person returned.

— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on East State Street near Giant Eagle for a traffic violation at 8:50 p.m. Thursday. Officers found that the driver, Robert Byrd, East Liverpool, had multiple active warrants and they were taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail

— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 7:49 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that during the night his cameras recorded a man acting strangely next to his house and vehicle. The caller showed officers the recordings, but the person in question couldn’t be identified. An extra watch was placed in the area.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 6:24 p.m. Thursday for multiple reports of a juvenile being abused. Officers spoke with the family and learned the juvenile in question was autistic and had become upset, necessitating they be carried out of the store. However, due to physical limitations the stepfather had to place the juvenile down and walk them out of the store with their hands held behind their back. Officers reviewed security footage of the incident from the business which confirmed their account.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 4:17 p.m. Thursday for a reported criminal trespasser. The caller advised that a person had come onto their property and kicked their door. Officers attempted to locate the person in question but were unable.

— Officers responded to a reported crash in the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 3:19 p.m. Thursday for a reported crash. Officers found that the vehicle in question had slipped out of gear and coasted down the road into a tree. Officers took information and documented the damage with a report.

— Officers responded to the area of Fairview Avenue at 11:59 a.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious man walking around outside Southeast Elementary. Officers located the man on Ridgewood Avenue and advised him of the complaint, and that he was not welcome to return to the property. He advised that he was just walking around and didn’t mean to cause an issue.
