Reasons to back Crestview issue

Editor: As chairman of the levy committee, proud Rebel parent and community member I am urging you to support the upcoming school levy. There is a team of motivated community members working countless hours to inform the community about the bond based on facts. We are asking voters to approve a bond to build a new state of the art PreK-12 facility. The state is funding 88 percent of the project saving us, the taxpayers, millions of dollars. Editor: I just wanted to say that I was greatly helped by the wonderful spay programs of Angels for Animals. I have had many cats which were strays, that I felt sorry for. I knew they needed to be spayed and neutered, but I had no way to afford it. I was looking for help and saw a post about fostering kittens for Angels. I talked to a volunteer named Sameera. She told me about a family, the Kissingers, who raised money at Angels by putting on pancake breakfasts, then sold vouchers to have cats “fixed” for $15 each. Editor: With Ohio’s current drug problem, it is very troubling to learn that the Democratic nominee for state treasurer, Rob Richardson, would support a constitutional amendment that has the potential to enable to flow of more drugs into our communities. But I think there is hope with Republican nominee, Robert Sprague, who opposes State Issue 1. Sprague has noted Issue 1 not only endangers Ohio’s fight against drugs but puts families at risk. Editor: Mobs or Jobs. I’m not the first to write this phrase but when I first saw it in print it stuck in my head as being an exquisitely cogent and concise summation of the choice we electorate have to make Nov. 6. Editor: I taught full time in the Crestview school system for 29 years and have been a volunteer teacher for the past 25 years. Teaching has been very rewarding for me personally. Based on my experience, I know how great the teachers, administrators and students are in our system. I also know we must either repair or replace the supporting infrastructure. The buildings making up this infrastructure need improved safety, security, buildings and an updated learning environment.
