Food bank appreciates support of governor

To the editor: Over the past month, Gov. Mike DeWine and his administration have repeatedly responded to calls for help from food banks throughout the state. In March, Gov. DeWine deployed Ohio National Guard members when we made a plea for emergency support. Locally, Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley has 26 members of the Ohio National Guard on-site helping in all aspects of food distribution in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. To the editor: In reference to the letter to the editor on Wednesday, April 8 by Ronald J. Price regarding his displeasure with the Morning Journal for publishing a column by Jules Witcover. He strenuously disagreed with the content of the article and chastised the Morning Journal for printing an opinion piece which apparently differed from his own point of view. To the editor: For years you and thousands like you have gone to restaurants, fast food establishments, pot luck dinners, benefit dinners, food stores, buffets and food bars. Inmate speaks out against prison conditions

To the editor: I am writing to you as an inmate at the Elkton Federal Correction Institution. Many inmates are justifiably scared and concerned about the conditions and procedures that the Bureau of Prisons is fostering and conducting here at this and other facilities. To the editor: This morning, being a creature of habit, I opened my Morning Journal to page A4 and saw that you headlined in bold print another of Jules Witcover's opinion pieces. How he continues to be published by Ogden Newspapers, Inc., is a mystery to me. Semi-retired teacher and just for full disclosure, a Republican (although that party, as I knew it, has virtually disappeared) and was a never-Trumper in 2016.
