Salem

— Officers responded to the 1500 block of East State Street at 11:35 p.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller was concerned about a flashing light, which officers confirmed to be caused by a faulty light with nothing else out of the ordinary.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Granite Avenue at 8:32 p.m. Thursday for a barking dog complaint. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any barking dogs.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Prospect Street at 6:22 p.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. Officers collected the information and advised the caller that the matter was a civil matter.

— Officers responded to Walmart at 6:06 p.m. Thursday for a report of found property. The caller found a wallet which was turned into customer service. Officers took the item and placed it into recovered property.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Washington Avenue at 4:28 p.m. Thursday for a reported barking dog. The caller advised that she did not like the dogs barking during the. The caller also advised that the dogs do go inside the residence at night during the times listed in the noise ordinance.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 4:10 p.m. Thursday for a civil matter. The caller advised that he wanted to take his wife’s vehicle. Officers advised him that it was a civil matter and shared property.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Third Street at 1:43 p.m. Thursday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the resident who advised everything was okay.

— Officers on patrol in the 1600 block of Cleveland Street at 11:02 a.m. Thursday observed a reckless operator traveling east on East State Street. Officers spoke with the driver issuing a warning for reckless driving.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department about a suspicious person at 9:42 a.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers were advised that a person had been looking into the windows of a business. Officers advised they were aware of the person in question and could trespass him from the business, but he was able to walk on the sidewalk if he wished to. The caller advised that she did not want him trespassed.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West 10th Street at 9:12 a.m. Thursday for a report of theft. The caller advised that someone had come onto his property sometime during the night and had taken feed out of his bird feeder and had broken it. The caller advised officers of a person who had done the same thing in the past but didn’t know who it was. The caller advised he just wanted the person trespassed from his property if they were identified.

— The school resource officer was advised by a student of ongoing issues at home with her father at 7:39 a.m. Thursday. The student advised that she just wanted to talk about the issues and didn’t want to file a report or do anything, as they are just arguing a lot the last few days.

– Officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 12:25 a.m. Saturday in reference to someone on the roof of a building. Officers located a male juvenile who could not give a valid reason for being on the roof. Officers were unable to contact the owner of the building to see if he wished to pursue charges. Officers transported the juvenile home and advised a parent of the problem and the possibility of future charges.

– Officers responded to the 500 block of Stewart Avenue at 11:23 p.m. Friday in reference to a criminal trespassing complaint and learned that the person in question, who was not identified, had already left. The person in question was then dropped off and placed into custody for criminal trespass, and was ultimately released to a guardian.

– Officers responded to the 1400 block of Maple Street at 7:44 p.m. Friday in reference to two juveniles who appeared to be about to fight. Officers found the juveniles separated and the matter to be a misunderstanding.

– A Niles resident reported at 6:23 p.m. Friday a child custody dispute in which his children were not dropped off by the mother in the 1000 block of West State Street for the court ordered time and wanted the incident documented.

– An officer responded to the 1400 block of Maple Street at 4:24 p.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile problem and learned the complainant was having problems with two other juveniles at Centennial Park. The officer spoke with the two juveniles who said they were upset with the complainant about a rumor at school. The officer told the juveniles if there is a problem at school to tell a teacher or the school resource officer and advised all the juveniles to stay away from each other.

– Tammy A. Trimm, Salem, was cited for improper backing following a two-vehicle crash in the 600 block of Deming Street at 3:48 p.m. Friday in which she backed into a parked vehicle while leaving her driveway. No injuries were reported.

– Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 3:14 p.m. Friday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with the arrest of a man who was attempting to solicit a woman. Officers seized $100 as evidence.

– Hunter J. Owen, 16, Salem, was cited for passing in a double yellow line no passing zone following a two-vehicle crash at 3:06 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of South Union Avenue in which he was southbound and attempted to pass another vehicle driven by Madalynn G. Andres, 16, Salem, when he swerved back to the right, striking Andres’ vehicle, then left the scene. No injuries were reported.

– An officer responded to the 1000 block of Newgarden Avenue at 2:34 p.m. Friday where a resident reported a man was sending harassing text messages. An officer left a voicemail with the man to stop harassing the complainant.

– An officer responded to the 1100 block of Benton Road at 1:45 p.m. Friday to assist medical personnel with a possible combative patient and stood by until the patient was loaded into an ambulance.

– An officer took a complaint over the phone from someone at 1:36 p.m. Friday who said an iPhone was shipped to a Newgarden Avenue residence, but that the iPhone was not in the package when she retrieved it, despite there being no apparent tampering with the package.

– An officer responded with medical personnel to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue at 12:05 p.m. Friday in reference to an ambulance needed, but the person in question refused medical treatment.

– Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 11:16 a.m. Friday in reference to an unknown naked woman in the front yard. Officers made contact with the woman who was fully clothed and said she was fine.

– Officers responded to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 10:58 a.m. Friday where a resident reported someone possibly broke into the home a few days ago, but nothing appeared to be missing.

–­ The school resource officer was advised by a student at 9:17 a.m. Friday of an issue that happened at her home with a family member. The matter is under investigation.

– The school resource officer was advised by a student at 9:17 a.m. Friday she is being harassed by another student regarding ongoing personal issues. The officer spoke with the other student who said there would be no further issues.

– Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 5:48 a.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute and found that one of the people involved had already left. Officers located him driving and conducted a traffic stop, detaining him to check for a possible firearm reported by the complainant, but no firearm was found. He reportedly had damaged numerous vehicle and residential windows at the property of the incident and the matter will be forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office for review.

New Waterford

– Officers responded to the police station at 1:14 p.m. April 24 to speak with a woman from the 3900 block of Boardman Street regarding fraudulent activity with a loan opened in the complainant’s name.

– Officers responded to the 3800 block of West Main Street at 7:21 a.m. April 23 in reference to an issue regarding a cell phone. Officers advised the caller it would be a landlord issue due to the cell phone being marital property.

– Officers responded to the area of Creek Road and North State Street at 4:06 p.m. April 22 in reference to juveniles riding dirt bikes, but found the juveniles were not riding the dirt bikes on the roadways, so no violations occurred.

– Officers responded to the 3900 block of West Main Street at 9:59 p.m. April 20 in reference to a dog complainant and found the dog to be healthy and cared for adequately.

– Officers responded to the area of Crestview and Taylor roads at 12:42 p.m. April 19 in reference to a loose cow. The cow was safely brought back to the fence area.

Lisbon

– An officer responded to the area of McKinley Elementary School for a school bus with its stop sign on at 11 p.m. Wednesday but was unable to make contact with the bus.

– A customer at Day’s Inn found a methamphetamine pipe in their room and officers took the item to dispose of it at 10:29 p.m. Wednesday.

– An officer responded to the playground for a report of juveniles vandalizing the area at 3:32 p.m. Wednesday. The juveniles said they were drawing with chalk provided by the playground.

– An officer met with a Leetonia police officer to give a man a ride from Leetonia to his home on West Lincoln Way at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday.

– A woman was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center after having a mental health episode, going missing, and being seen running in the area of Carter Lumber on East Lincoln Way at 5:16 a.m. Wednesday.

– Officers responded to the Columbiana County Park District for an open garage door and secured the building at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday.

– Officers responded to the 39000 block of Center Avenue to assist Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputies with an investigation at 7:53 p.m. Tuesday.

– Officers responded to the 300 block of East Chestnut Street for a welfare check and received no response after knocking at 6:17 p.m. Tuesday.

– An officer responded to the 200 block of North Beaver Street to speak with a woman about an ex believed to be hacking her phone at 3:42 p.m. Tuesday.

– A man filed a report that his neighbor saw a woman enter his unlocked house in the 400 block of East Chestnut Street when he was not home at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday. The neighbor identified the woman. Officers spoke to the woman alleged to have entered the house, who said she was recently released from the hospital after a four-day stay and has not been to the man’s house for more than a year.

– Officers responded to the 500 block of East Chestnut Street for an open door and cleared the residence at 10:51 a.m. Tuesday.

– Officers responded to the 400 block of East Lincoln Way for a noise complaint and advised the resident to turn down his music at 6:27 p.m. Monday.

– Police responded to Eagle Christian School for a medical call at 4:34 p.m. Monday. They stood by until North Star Critical Care arrived.

– Police stood by on a medical call at Personal Touch Retirement Home until no longer needed at 4:06 p.m. Monday.

– Officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with removing a goat from the road at state Route 45 and Black Road at 3 a.m. Monday, before locating its owner on Bluff Road.

– Officers assisted in a follow-up for East Liverpool police in the 600 block of East Chestnut Street to look for a man East Liverpool Police were pursuing who allegedly had fictitious registration at 10:57 p.m. April 21. Officers were unable to locate anyone at the residence but told East Liverpool police of other vehicles located at the address belonging to the man.

– Police assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop in the area of Jefferson and Washington streets and stood by until no longer needed at 9:15 p.m. April 21.

– Officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol on a possible hit-skip suspect vehicle at 8:28 p.m. April 21. The vehicle in question was not involved and officers cleared.

– Officers were able to locate someone who appeared to unintentionally drive off without paying for gas from Smith Oil at 5:44 p.m. April 21, using a license plate number. The person came back and paid for the gas.

– Officers responded to Vine Street and Lincoln Way for a parking complaint at 7:47 p.m. April 20, but the vehicle was not there upon arrival.

– At 2:21 p.m. on April 20, officers assisted a disabled vehicle in getting off the road near the cemetery entrance on Lee Avenue.

– Officers helped gain entry to a vehicle in a lockout at the walking trail at St. Jacobs Logtown and Lions Clubs Road at 10:35 a.m. April 20.

– Officers helped gain entry to a vehicle in a lockout at Valley View at 10:13 a.m. April 20.

– Officers helped free a driver and aided the Ohio State Highway Patrol with traffic control after a rollover crash and entrapment on state Route 11 southbound, two miles south of Lisbon, at 7:53 a.m. April 20.

– Officers responded for civil standby for a child custody exchange in the 200 block of East Pine Street at 6:52 a.m. April 20.

– Officers saw two males in the Save A Lot parking lot at 1:37 a.m. April 19. They said they were washing clothes at the laundromat and officers saw clothes being washed.

– While on routine patrol at 1:07 a.m. April 19, officers heard loud yelling and found a man seeming to be experiencing a mental health event or drug-induced reaction in the area of North Market Street and Lincoln Way. The man said five or six men were following him and attempting to “beat him up.” There was no one seen in the immediate area. The man was willingly transported to East Liverpool City Hospital.

– Cliffton Thyarion, 33, Garner, S.C., was arrested at Columbiana County Juvenile Court and charged with criminal trespass and assault for allegedly being irate, yelling, and assaulting a police officer at the court at 9:52 a.m. April 18. Thyarion was said to be upset about a child support hearing.

– At 6:38 p.m. April 17, officers responded to the 200 block of East High Street for a disabled vehicle and stood by until Baker’s Towing came to tow it out of a hole.

– A vehicle was broken into on its driver’s side window on South Market Street near the Columbiana County Courthouse downtown at 3:01 a.m. April 16. Police were able to contact the owner of the vehicle.

– Officers took a report of a possible fraud in the 100 block of Pritchard Avenue at 11:50 p.m. April 15. The fraud involved a call a woman said she received from a New York state number that told her they were Publisher’s Clearing House and she had won $7.5 million, $5,000 a week for life, and a brand-new Mercedes van. She did not give any information out. Officers said they would post an extra patrol in the area in case the caller showed up at her residence, as they were said to have her address and other information already.

– K-9 Otis assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol in conducting an open air sniff around a vehicle, where Otis alerted to the presence of narcotics and after a search, suspected narcotics were found in the driver’s possession, at 11:28 p.m. April 15.

– At 2:39 a.m. April 15, K-9 Otis was dispatched to Lisbon Street near Westfield Road to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol in locating a wanted man who fled on foot from a crash scene following a pursuit. The man, who had a reported history of being armed and dangerous, was later found and arrested.
