Salem
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:42 a.m. Wednesday for a reported verbal dispute. Officers determined that a person living in an apartment below the caller’s had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend after a long night of drinking alcohol. To avoid further dispute, the female was transported to the police department to call and wait for a ride home.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Prospect Street at 3:34 a.m. Wednesday for a reported assault. Officers spoke with the parties involved and collected information. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 1:01 a.m. Wednesday to assist EMT with a patient that was acting erratically. The person in question agreed to go to the hospital.
— Officers on patrol in the area of South Ellsworth Avenue at 12:44 a.m. Wednesday observed a suspicious person walking in the dark near the railroad office building. Officers spoke with the person who advised that they were doing some scrapping and had permission to be there but could not provide anything substantiating that claim. He was advised to leave the area.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who was okay and was just angry at events that had occurred earlier in the evening. Officers advised them to contact them if anything was needed.
— Officers responded to the area of Newgarden Avenue and West Wilson Street at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday for a report of ATVs being operated on the roadway. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person in question.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue at 5:07 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that they thought someone was in the upstairs window. Officers made several announcements with no answer. The building was not checked due to it being safe.
— Diane Seely, Salem, was cited for reasonable control after their westbound vehicle in the 800 block of East Third Street struck a parked unoccupied car at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
— Officers responded to the area of East State Street near North Lincoln Avenue at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers located the vehicle at a business in the 900 block of East State Street and advised the driver of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 2:29 p.m. Tuesday for a reported medical call. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Buckeye Circle at 7:13 a.m. Tuesday to serve a search warrant at a residence. Officers located a man with an active warrant at the residence, David McKinnon, 35, Salem, and took him into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 11:20 p.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. Officers observed an illegally parked vehicle, and a warning was issued.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of West Perry Street at 9:05 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers checked the area and surrounding blocks but did not locate the vehicle in question.
— Officers responded to the 7300 block of state Route 45 at 9 p.m. Monday to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol. K-9 Chaz was deployed but did not indicate the presence of narcotic odor.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Newgarden Avenue at 8:25 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers located the occupants of the vehicle, who repeatedly denied being involved with the vehicle and after confirming their identities officers took Danny Schultz, 28, Salem, and Kayley Brandle, 35, Salem into custody and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the area of Jennings Avenue and West Tenth Street at 7:18 p.m. Monday for a reported dog at large. Officers located the owner, who was out attempting to catch the dog, and advised them that officers could assist if they needed help.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street at 6:12 p.m. Monday for a reported reckless operator. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 2:40 p.m. Monday for a reported medical emergency. Officers stood by until the person in question was transported to the emergency room by ambulance.
— Officers on patrol in the 200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 1:44 p.m. Monday observed a large amount of smoke coming from a building in the 200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. The fire department responded, and officers provided traffic control until barricades could be set up.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Seventh Street at 12:17 p.m. Monday for a reported animal complaint. Officers were advised of chickens in the backyard of a residence. Officers spoke with the owner and advised them of the city ordinances and that they may want to review them.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the area of West Pine Lake Road and North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:53 p.m. Monday for a report of a possible dispute. Officers were advised that a juvenile female left the group home and they were calming her down before taking home. Officers stood by until the group home staff got the juvenile inside their vehicle.
— Officers on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 62 between Goshen Road and Benton Road at 4:34 a.m. Monday located a vehicle pulled off of the roadway. Officers spoke with the driver, who advised they were just resting.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Blossom Lane at 12:47 a.m. Monday for a speak with officer report. The man advised that the staff members did not want to talk and were being rude. Officers advised that they had multiple people they had to take care of and nurses were able to come in and tend to the man.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of Filmore Avenue at 8:18 p.m. Sunday for a shooting complaint. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone shooting.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 12:09 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The person in question had requested an ambulance then become confrontational with dispatch after changing his mind. The man did not want to speak with an officer, nor seek medical help.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Shamrock Arbor Drive at 4:35 a.m. Sunday for reports of an unruly juvenile. Officers were unable to locate the juvenile and escorted them home.
