Columbiana
— Jakob Bell, 33, Hanoverton, was arrested at 7:11 p.m. on March 16 on an active warrant out of the sheriff’s department after he was observed by an officer walking on state Route 14.
— Donald Ferrebee, 69, East Liverpool was arrested and charged with OVI, OVI refusal, red light and failure to comply following a traffic stop on Columbiana-Waterford Rd. at 9:59 p.m. on March 16.
— Sharissa Franklin, 20, Boardman was cited for driving under suspension and driving while texting at 11:34 a.m. on W. Park Ave. on March 15.
— Officers assisted EMS with a call on Stanton Ave. at 4:55 a.m. on March 15
— A credit card was turned in at the station and returned to its owner at 2:37 p.m. on March 15.
— Clinton Scott II, 46, Columbaiana was arrested on an active warrant out of the sheriff’s department at 4:22 p.m. on March 15 on Union St.
— Sarah Hudeon, 35, Youngstown, was cited with driving under suspension and obeying traffic control devices following a traffic stop on N. Main St. at 6:34 p.m. on March 15.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of New Garden Avenue at 7:36 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a lost wallet. Officers were able to identify the owner of the wallet but were unable to contact them. The wallet will be kept at the police department for safekeeping until the owner can be contacted.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Benton Road at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a suspicious vehicle sitting in a closed business parking lot. Officers spoke with the occupants of the vehicle, finding no illegal activity was being conducted. Officers advised that if the business owner did not ask them to leave, they could stay.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:11 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an unruly juvenile. The caller advised the juvenile was throwing things and they believed them to be on illegal substances. Officers spoke with the juvenile, finding them to be experiencing a mental health crisis, and EMT responded and transported the juvenile for evaluation with the parents’ permission.
— Officers responded to the area of state Route 45 near West State Street at 6:07 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a deer in the roadway. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the animal.
— Yaniel Soto, 28, Youngstown, was cited for failure to control after his southbound vehicle on North Lincoln Avenue went off the road into a ditch at 6:18 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
— Donald Dillon III, 52, Columbiana, was cited for failure to control after his eastbound vehicle on U.S. Route 62 went off the roadway and into a ditch at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
— Gary Horst, 18, Alliance, was cited for failure to control after his eastbound vehicle on U.S. Route 62 went off the roadway into a ditch at 3:16 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
— Giovanni Diaz, 43, Youngstown, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Richard Tabaka, 59, New Middletown, causing it to strike the rear of a vehicle driven by Bonnie Lancaster, 67, Salem, at 2:50 p.m. Sunday. Diaz sustained possible injuries but refused treatment.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 1:08 a.m. Sunday for a reported medical call. The person was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6 p.m. March 15, for reports of threats between residents. Officers spoke with the involved parties and others at the residence determining no threats were made.
— A female juvenile, whose name was not listed, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle on 17th Street attempted to turn southbound onto North Lincoln Avenue causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven by Dorothy Dutko, 75, Salem, at 12:47 p.m. March 15. Dutko was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT.
— Officers responded to the area of Springdale Street and Ellsworth Avenue at 11:26 p.m. March 14 for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate them.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Main Street at 2:12 p.m. March 14 to assist the Salem Police Department. Officers stood by until no longer needed.
Leetonia
— An officer responded to the first block of High Street at 4:07 p.m. March 20 in reference to an unruly juvenile who was being physically violent with his sister and their dog, as well as throwing and breaking items in the house, after being told via telephone by his mother that he could not stay at a friend’s house. The juvenile’s grandmother was watching the children and could not watch both juveniles at once. The juvenile was too young to take to the Tobin Center and there was not enough evidence to be sent to the hospital for mental evaluation, nor was there anyone else in the house to take responsibility for the juvenile. The officer contacted the juvenile’s father, who provided permission for the juvenile to stay with his friend.
— An officer responded to the 100 block of Oak Street at 11:14 p.m. March 19 in reference to a man in a white vehicle threatening to kill a resident with a firearm. The resident reported the man had stood outside her window for several hours a few nights prior, but she did not find out until the next morning. She said the man is an ex who is not taking the break up well. She was advised to contact police if she hears or sees anything suspicious.
— The Leetonia Community Public Library director reported at 11:27 a.m. March 19 the library had hired a contractor to complete renovations at the facility and paid a down payment of $2,650 in March 2023. The director said the contractor said he would start the work within three weeks on Oct. 5, 2023, but never started the work, then did not reply to a message left on Nov. 9, 2023. The director said he contacted the county prosecutor’s office in December and someone from the office was to draft a letter to send to the contractor, but the letter was never received, although emails had been.
— A woman reported on station at 9:53 a.m. March 19 she was being denied access to her son since her arrest for domestic violence. A no contact order is in place by the court. Her boyfriend will not let her have the child even though he has no parental rights to the boy. The matter was turned over to the domestic relations court.
— An officer responded to the bridge on Columbia Street at 2:47 p.m. March 19 where a driver reported sliding on ice and striking the bridge. No damage was observed to the bridge.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Pershing Street at 4:42 p.m. Friday in reference to a child custody dispute in which the caller reported his ex was attempting to pick up the kids and he did not want them to go with her. The caller was advised that without the proper paperwork, the ex has all the rights to the children and told to contact an attorney. The children left wit the ex.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 2:48 p.m. Friday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. The person in question was taken into custody and $160 was seized as evidence.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Second Street at 2:31 p.m. Friday in reference to a person to be removed in which the caller reported the person in question had been asked to leave and he did not. The person in question was advised to leave and he did.
— Jamie Banks, Salem, was cited for dog at large after officers responded to the 400 block of Prospect Street at 1:58 p.m. Friday where a caller reported being chased by a dog. Officers located the dog in the 600 block of Newgarden Avenue and the city humane agent responded, securing the dog in a kennel on Banks’ property.
— Adam Sweda, 27, Cannonsburg, Pa., was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of East State Street at 11:48 a.m. Friday in which he was driving eastbound and struck the rear of a vehicle driven by William George Jones, 66, Lisbon, who had slowed to make a turn. Medical personnel responded to check on a passenger of Jones, who ultimately declined treatment. No other injures were reported.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 11:31 a.m. Friday in reference to a person to be removed in which the caller said she did not want the person in question on her property any longer. The person in question was advised to leave and did so without incident.
