Highway Patrol

— Joey Lynn Corfee, 33, Salem, was travelling westbound on U.S. Route 30 at 6:20 p.m. in Center Township when the left front tire came off their vehicle. No citations were issued and no injuries were reported.

— James Streb, 35, East Liverpool, was cited for failure to properly secure loads after a cooler in a boat towed by his southbound vehicle came loose, landing in the roadway and striking a vehicle driven by Megan Bickerton, 41, Lisbon, at 5:10 p.m. Monday in Elkrun Township. No injuries were reported.

— Colton Merrill, 18, Leetonia, was cited for failure to yield after his southbound vehicle on state Route 164 failed to yield, causing his vehicle to be struck by a vehicle driven westbound on state Route 558 by Linda Cook, 70, Leetonia, and going off the right side of the roadway before overturning at 2:19 p.m. Monday in Fairfield Township. Cook was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital Boardman by EMT EMS with suspected minor injuries.

— Telila Wondimu, 34, Annandale, Virginia, was cited for traffic control devices after his westbound vehicle struck a bridge overpass at 12:49 p.m. Thursday in Knox Township. No injuries were reported.

— Petit Benoit, 48, Quebec, Canada, was cited for improper passing after his northbound vehicle on state Route 165 attempted to pass a vehicle driven by Michael Boniphant, 50, Pennsylvania, striking it and another vehicle towed by them at 7:09 p.m. Oct. 19 in Unity Township. No injuries were reported.

— Kierra Gubesch, 22, Carrolton, was cited for failure to maintain space between moving vehicles after his southbound vehicle on state Route 644 rear ended a vehicle driven by Shirley Clark, 78, Summitville, at 3:37 p.m. Oct. 19 in Franklin Township. Clark’s passenger Jon Clark, 81, Summitville, was transported to East Liverpool hospital by West Point EMS with suspected minor injuries.

— Sunshine Blake, 43, East Liverpool, was cited for improper use of turn and stop signals after his eastbound vehicle on U.S. Route 30 made an improper lane change and struck a vehicle driven by Lisa Schmidt, 38, New Cumberland, West Virginia, at 1:16 a.m. Oct. 18 in Saint Clair Township. No injuries were reported.

Salem

— Officers responded to the area of Franklin Avenue and Trimble Street at 1:58 a.m. Thursday for a reckless operator. The caller said a motorcycle had passed through the area while driving erratically. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday in regards to possible narcotic activity within the city. All information was collected and given to the county drug task force agent.

— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and Southeast Boulevard at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday for a reported traffic light malfunction. Officers sat in the area and observed multiple cycles of the traffic signal working properly.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1900 block of East State Street at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday for a report of telephone harassment. Officers spoke with the caller and learned that they lived outside of city limits. Officers advised the caller of the proper agency to contact.

— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 5:01 p.m. Wednesday for a lost property report. They had found a small zippered pouch containing credit cards near the intersection of East Sixth Street and North Lincoln Avenue. Officers attempted to contact the owner by phone unsuccessfully, and the property will be kept in the department’s lost and fund for safe keeping.

— While on patrol in the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 4:07 p.m. Wednesday officers were advised of a blue car with heavy front end damage that had been parked on the road for about a month without being moved. Officers located the vehicle, and upon entering the vehicle into LEADS it returned as stolen in Hanoverton. Officers had the vehicle towed and photos were taken and a vehicle inventory form was filed. The entering agency was advised of the recovery and no hold was requested.

— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 3:37 p.m. Wednesday for a neighbor dispute in the 1400 block of South Lincoln Avenue. Officers spoke with the caller and advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Ridgewood Avenue at 3 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an unknown person attempting to gain entry to a residence. The caller said that someone had attempted to open both the front and rear doors to the residence. The caller provided officers with a description of the person in question as well as the vehicle they had been driving. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person or vehicle.

— Officers spoke with a woman at the police department at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an unwanted person contacting her. Information was gathered and a report was filed. Officers were able to make contact with the man and advised him of the complaint. The man advised that he understood and would have no further contact with her.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Park Avenue at 1 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check at the request of the Leetonia Police Department. Officers were unable to make contact with the person in question.

— Officers responded to the area of North Cunninghan Road and Bentley for a report of a vehicle that had gone over the hill. Officers located the area where the vehicle had struck a fire hydrant and broke it off, going over the embankment, and also found that the vehicle had left the scene.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 11:07 p.m. Wednesday for a report of lines down in the roadway. The road was closed due to power lines and Ohio Edison responded.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:51 a.m. Wednesday to follow up on a previous police matter. While there, officers came into contact with Alyssa Slutter, 31, who had and active warrant out of Columbiana County. The woman was placed into custody and released to a Columbiana County Sheriff’s Deputy.

— While working as the school resource officer at 8:26 a.m. Wednesday, an officer was advised of an issue that occurred the night prior with a student. The school administrators were advised the student had been located and was brought to the office where detectives responded with the student’s mother. The student was transported to Akron Children’s Boardman Campus for the issues.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Liberty Street at 9:14 a.m. Wednesday for a reported 911 hang up call and possible domestic dispute. Officers attempted to make contact at the residence but were unsuccessful.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:47 a.m. Monday for a theft report. The caller said his bicycle had been taken from his residence, but he does not have any security footage of the incident and just wanted a report filed.

— Officers spoke with a man at the police department at 8:06 a.m. Monday in regards to a situation that occurred at his former place of employment in the city. Officers advised him of options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Walnut Street at 12:33 a.m. Wednesday for a report of criminal trespass. Officers spoke with two men who said their friend who lives in the apartment was letting them stay there. Neither friend was able to make contact with the friend that lives in the residence. Officers had been advised by the landlord previously that the man living in that apartment had been evicted. Officers advised both men to leave for the night and they complied.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of North Union Avenue at 6:58 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check on a male juvenile at the request of his father who does not live there. Officers spoke to the mother of the juvenile and advised her of the complaint, gaining permission to speak with her son. After speaking with the juvenile in the presence of his mother it was determined he needed to speak with someone further about some personal issues. Officers requested first responders and an ambulance and was ultimately transported by KLG for evaluation.

— Officers on patrol in the 900 block of East Pershing Street at 6:36 p.m. Tuesday observed smoke from a backyard and stopped to speak with the homeowner. It was determined they were burning brush and were advised not to do so because it was in violation of the city’s open burning ordinance. She put the fire out without incident and the fire department was contacted.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Robin Avenue at 6:26 p.m. Tuesday for a report of motorcycles racing up and down the street. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate any motorcycles.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday for an assault report. The woman said that a woman she knew had gotten into a verbal altercation with her the previous night at a business in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue and that she put her hands on her. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of East Perry Street at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday for a report of several juveniles behind a residence being loud and possibly smoking marijuana. Officers made contact with several people at the residence including an adult woman and had all of them come outside. They were identified and advised of the complaint and officers spoke to the juveniles to ensure they were allowed to be there and advised them of the possible charges if caught smoking marijuana.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 12:24 p.m. Tuesday for a dog bite complaint. Officers responded and were made aware by the fire department that a dog had bit one of the firefighters while they were on scene for a separate incident. The fire department were able to get the dogs into a fenced area to wait for the humane society to come and retrieve the dogs.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 10:34 a.m. Tuesday for a harassment complaint. The caller said a woman known to her keeps calling her and she doesn’t want to speak with her. Officers contacted the other woman and advised her of the complaint and that criminal charges could follow if she contacts the caller again.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 9:46 a.m. Tuesday for a warrant check on a man for the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers were unable to contact the man.

— While on patrol in the 200 block of East Second Street at 12:42 a.m. Tuesday officers observed a vehicle parked in the Broadway Plaza with its parking lights on. After checking the vehicle officers found two people lying in the rear hatch. Both people were checked and found to be adults who advised they were just hanging out talking. They were sent on their way.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 10:35 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers spoke with the person, issuing a warning for disorderly conduct and advising them to go home for the night.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of West State Street at 9:27 p.m. Monday for an unknown disturbance where it was reported there was a man standing outside with a gun. Officers stood by with the Perry Township Police Department until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Second Street at 8:43 p.m. Monday for a report of a woman that appeared to be sick and vomiting. She was located and the fire department responded. She was ultimately transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 8:15 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and a man and woman nearby, who said they were just walking around. Officers advised them that all the businesses were closed for the night and to come back when the businesses are open.

— Officers responded to Subway at 7:21 p.m. Monday for a report of a man lying in one of the booths asking for alcoholic beverages and appearing to be on narcotics. Prior to officers’ arrival the man was located in the 200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue and was contacted. The man made suicidal comments to officers during the interaction prompting the fire department to respond to the scene. The man was ultimately transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Fourth Street at 6:44 p.m. Monday for a report of vehicles parked on the wrong side of the road. Officers located six vehicles parked in a no parking zone and the owners were located and the vehicles moved.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Walnut Street at 6:20 p.m. Monday for a person to be removed. Officers located the two subjects and they were removed.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of West Wilson Street at 4:41 p.m. Monday to speak to an adult at the residence about nobody being at the bus stop to pick up a juvenile student. Officers spoke to the grandmother of the students who said her older grandson was supposed to be at the bus stop. After checking it was found the older child was playing video games and had forgotten to get his brother from the bust stop which he normally does. The mother of the child was sick in bed and the grandmother responded to the bus garage to pick up the student.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:27 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious man going door to door asking to use a phone charger. Officers located the individual in the 700 block of East Third Street near North Lincoln Avenue. He was advised of the complaint and identified as a city resident. He advised he was trying to find a phone charger he could use while he waited for his ride to pick him up, and that he could be on his way to prevent any further complaint.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 4:18 p.m. Monday for a theft report. The woman said that she was renting a storage facility on Elm Avenue and that when she had gone there, she noticed the lock and several boxes of things were missing from the unit. The caller advised she doesn’t go to the unit regularly and hasn’t been there for quite some time. The caller was advised a report would be on file.

— Officers spoke to a woman and her juvenile daughter at the police department at 4:12 p.m. Monday to file a report in regards to an incident involving her school bus. The caller advised that her daughter was getting off the school bus and the driver closed the door to quickly causing her daughter to get hit in the right side of the face by the door. Slight marks were observed and photographed. The caller advised that a message was left with the bus coordinator to call her back in regards to the incident. Officers advised a report would be completed and suggested that she should follow up with the bus garage.
