County Sheriff

— Shawn Sadler, Longs Crossing Road, Salem, reported at 10:58 p.m. Sunday his sister, Carla Sadler, was a victim of domestic violence. Carla Sadler reported her live-in boyfriend, William Jones, struck her in the face and pinned her down, then struggled to get her phone. She threw it and he went after it, so she ran toward the front door. But he grabbed her and pushed her into the bathroom. At one point she screamed for her brother to help her and Jones closed the door on her arm. After she escaped, he threatened to go get his gun. Her pistol was later missing from the home after Jones had left.

— Richard Scott, James Drive, Wellsville, reported reckless driving in the trailer park at 10:53 p.m. Sept. 7. There were tire marks on the grass, but it did not appear the yard was torn up or there was any mud spatter.

— A woman was reported yelling for help in the Lakeview Drive area near Guilford Lake at 7:14 a.m. Sept. 10. Roy Gloria told deputies he found a 16-year-old inside a home on Ridgeview yelling for help. The house was empty and was recently sold to a family in California. The girl was wearing yoga pants, sneakers and a short tank top. She appeared to have dried vomit on her shoes and did not remember where she was or how she got there. She told deputies she went to a party with her 17-year-old female friend and about 10 or 15 others. They were drinking. Deputies found her mother’s vehicle down the street and a multitude of teens asleep from the party. They claimed the 16-year-old was drinking heavily, got sick and they took her keys away to keep her from driving. However, she walked away and they could not find her. Parents were called to come get their teens and the 16-year-old was taken to the hospital.

Lisbon

— The security alarm went off at the county mental health facility at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, but the building was found to be secure and nothing appeared to be amiss.

Columbiana

— A woman reported Sunday she was being harassed by the mother of her fiance’s daughter.

— A woman reported at 4:13 p.m. Sunday seeing a man going through a construction dumpster at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, but the person was gone by the time police arrived. They ran the license plate and it came back as being involved in a scrap theft.

East Palestine

— Police attempted to stop a motorcyclist operated by Joshua R. Andrews on Rebecca Street at 11:22 p.m. Saturday after he was seen passing a vehicle in a no-passing zone. Andrews fled and police terminated the chase for safety reasons. An arrest warrant was issued for Andrews, 23.

— While patrolling around the high school football game at 7:12 p.m. Friday police came across a dog running loose. Police located the owner, Jarrod Figley, who was warned about his dog running loose.

— A 911 call was received at 12:54 p.m. Saturday and the dispatcher could hear people talking in the background. Police traced the call to the 200 block of Park Avenue and spoke with the caller, who said the call was an accident.

— Police were called to James Street near the railroad tracks at 3:54 p.m. Saturday, where Mont Meckler reported he had gotten into a shouting match with his ex-sister-in-law who had driven by. At 5:03 p.m. Meckler reportedly got into another argument with John Hunt as Hunt walked by Meckler’s residence while carrying groceries. The two had already gone their separate ways by the time police arrived. Hunt did not wish to pursue charges, and Meckler was warned about continuing to act in a disorderly manner.

Salem

— Police assisted the patrol with a traffic stop at 1:30 a.m. Monday with K-9 Simon deployed for an open air sniff, indicating to the presence of a narcotic odor coming from the vehicle. An officer stood by while the trooper conducted an investigation. The address of the stop was not listed.

— An officer at 1:02 a.m. Monday saw an occupied vehicle sitting in the parking lot of Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., for an extended period of time. The officer made contact with the female occupant to see if everything was OK. She said she was fine and was just released from the hospital and attempting to find a friend’s house to stay for the evening. The officer then found the female had a suspended driver’s license and she was told she could not drive from the business and someone with a valid license would have to retrieve her vehicle.

— Cory Little, 29, of 620 W. Seventh St., was charged with expired registration and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 11:30 p.m. Sunday on West Pershing near Ellsworth.

— A domestic in progress was reported at 9:19 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of East Third Street where a woman said her boyfriend was yelling at her and was intoxicated. He said it was only an argument and he wanted to go to bed. Both said they would stay separated for the evening.

— Police responded at 8:47 p.m. Sunday to Centennial Park for a dispute at the baseball fields, but did not find any disturbance.

— Michael Wade, of 925 E. Fifth St., was charged and taken into custody for a felony OVI and a charge of driving under suspension after police checked on a suspicious vehicle/person stopped in the parking lot of Burger King at 8:39 p.m. Sunday.

— Police responded at 8:30 p.m. Sunday to the 200 block of East Sixth Street to assist the fire department and KLG with a medical call. A female was being transported and a young child needed to be watched. Officers contacted a neighbor who said she was willing to watch the juvenile for the evening.

— Police were called at 8:06 p.m. Sunday to Centennial Park for an alleged assault between two males. A woman said her son was assaulted while playing basketball and he was already home and did not need any medical attention. Officers spoke with the other male involved who said no assault occurred. The juvenile and his mother did not wish to pursue any charges.

— An anonymous person came to the police station at 5:29 p.m. Sunday to report a known male made inappropriate comments about his wife over Facebook.

— A resident in the 800 block of East Third reported Sunday someone broke a window at his home.

— A man in the 100 block of West 16th Street reported at 4:54 p.m. Sunday that over the last couple of days, the air was taken out of the tires of his vehicle while parked in his driveway.

— An officer at 4:18 p.m. Sunday recovered a tool box that apparently fell out of the back of a truck in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The tool box was taken to the station for safekeeping until the owner claims it.

— An officer spoke with a man and juvenile at 3:24 p.m. Sunday about a custody issue. The officer resolved the issue and options were explained to both parents. An address was listed on the report as West Wilson Street.

— A caller contacted police at 3:21 p.m. Sunday out of concern for two dogs in the back of a truck in a crate at Walmart. Officers found they had water and the crate was ventilated.

— An officer was flagged down in the 200 block of Park Avenue at 2:14 p.m. Sunday by a man who said someone set up a fake Facebook account and was making comments over Facebook from the account that were inappropriate. He was told his options.

— Suspicious activity was reported in the 2300 block of Painter Road at 11:04 a.m. Sunday. A caller said a person with a truck appeared to be looking for a place to mow. Nobody was found in the area.

— An officer at 7:35 a.m. Sunday found a paper box upset in the 100 block of East State Street and placed the box on the curb lawn.

— Police responded to the 100 block of West State Street, to Auto Zone, at 12:52 a.m. Monday for an alarm, with the exterior found secure. The keyholder said he would check the business in the morning to see if anything was out of place. Police had already responded to an alarm at the business earlier, at 9:27 p.m. Sunday, and found the business secure. The keyholder had responded and the inside was checked at that time, with no one there and nothing out of place.

Perry Township

— A possible impaired driver was reported at 9:41 p.m. Sunday in the area of East Pine Lake Road, but the vehicle was not found. Goshen police were notified.

— An officer at 8:05 p.m. Sunday took a report regarding harassment, with a woman advising her cousin won’t stop sending her text messages. She was told to block her number.

— Police responded to the 400 block of Benton Road for a burning complaint, finding a very large fire on the ground at 6:58 p.m. Sunday. The homeowner said they were burning furniture and mattresses. The fire department responded to put out the fire and explain the fire laws to the homeowner.

— A caller reported cats being neglected at a residence in the 1300 block of West State Street at 4:18 p.m. Sunday. The caller, a relative of the owner of the cats, told police the owner gave her permission to find the cats a new home. The owner is in a nursing home and can’t care for the cats. The caller was able to find a new home for the cats.

— Police responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:18 a.m. Sunday for a civil dispute over living arrangements. A resident said her son’s live-in girlfriend came onto the property and starting yelling at her over her son’s involvement with another woman. She did not want the live-in girlfriend back on the property and wanted her to move out. She was told she’ll need to evict her.

— Police assisted Salem units at 11:59 p.m. Saturday with a report of a fight on South Broadway and remained until no longer needed.

Leetonia

— Police responded to the 100 block of Pine Street at 11:20 a.m. Saturday for a report of a loose dog on her front porch. The complainant said she was afraid of the dog’s aggressive nature. Police arrived and found a brown and white pit bull showing aggressive body language, ears back, tail tucked between its legs and growling at as an officer approached. The dog warden was called after police were unable to identify the dog and arrived at 11:42 a.m. The warden was able to secure the dog and police cleared the scene.

— Police responded to the 20 block of Chestnut Street at 3:29 a.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute and Lance D. Derrick, 29 Chestnut St., was charged with domestic violence. An officer had to threaten him with a taser to comply with orders and the investigation revealed that Danielle Derrick had fresh marks on her face and neck. She said he hit her in the face, dragged her by her hair, and put his knee on her throat and choked her with the weight of his body. She said Lance is involved with a motorcycle club based out of Columbus and if she made a written statement there would be repercussions. Officers advised her to acquire a protection order and she said she has had them in the past and they don’t help. She said she did not require medical attention and she was provided with an outreach program for victims of domestic violence. Lance D. Derrick was taken to the county jail.

— Police responded to the 300 block of Pearl Street at 1:28 p.m. Monday where a man said his ex-girlfriend was at the house again wanting to enter and pick up her belongings. Police met with her and advised that the man would not let her in and that she would have to handle this through the court and an attorney and if the proper paperwork was filed the police would be able to escort her.
