Highway Patrol
— A motorcyclist suffered suspected serious injuries after a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Georgetown Road and Slater Road in Butler Township at 6:15 p.m. May 10. Noah A Baird, 19, West South Range Road, Salem, was transported to Mercy Health in Youngstown by Damascus EMS. His motorcycle was traveling northeast on Georgetown Road when a southbound vehicle driven by Rosario Bastatas Burkey, 49, First Street, Hanoverton, failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by the motorcycle. No citation was listed on the report.
— At 9:59 p.m. May 8 in West Township, a northbound vehicle driven by James Lucas, 24, Lynchburg Road, Kensington, went off of the left side of the road and struck a tree. Lucas was transported to Alliance City Hospital by Minerva Fire/EMS for suspected minor injuries. No citation was listed on the report.
— At 3:41 p.m. May 7 in Knox Township, a northbound vehicle drive by a 17-year-old Salem girl ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch on Georgetown Road. She was cited for marked lanes. She and two passengers, a 16-year-old Beloit girl and a 15-year-old Salem boy, were all transported by Sebring EMS to Mercy Health in Canton with suspected minor injuries.

— Salem police at 8:26 p.m. Wednesday requested a deputy check an address on U.S. Route 30, Kensington to see if a black Mercedes was there. The deputy did not see the car, but family came out and said the person no longer lives there but will try to contact him and relay a message.
— A report of drugs and a juvenile on County Home Road, Lisbon was reported at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday with no further information.
— An unruly juvenile was reported at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday on Cunningham Road, Salem where a man said his teenage son was being unruly, not listening, not wanting to go to school. While talking with the caller, the juvenile was in the background saying the caller hit him in the chest.
— A custody issue was reported on Hartley Road, Salem at 8:24 p.m. Wednesday by a woman saying her child had been with the father since last Thursday and she was supposed to pick her up Monday, but he hasn’t answered any of her texts or calls.
— Deputies were dispatched at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday to Carmel Achor Road in Middleton Township regarding an assault. Contact was made with both parties, with one saying they put hands on him, but the other saying it was only an argument and no verbal or physical threats occurred. No signs of physical injuries were noted on either party. The other party advised of concerns that he may become violent and requested he be arrested. They were advised an arrest cannot be made on something that may occur but has not. They were given info on how to obtain a protection order. A deputy spoke to the first party again and he was given a verbal warning for misuse of the 911 operating system.
— A man from Speidel Road, Hanoverton reported at 6:58 p.m. Wednesday that a roommate has been threatening him, taking his car and stealing his debit card. He just wanted him out of his house. He was told the other person would have to be evicted. He was also advised he could obtain a protection order if he’s concerned he may cause physical injury and have him removed.
— A welfare check was requested at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at a state Route 154, Elkrun Township property on a 2-year-old who had a seizure previously. Nobody was home.
— A man on Country Club Drive, Salem called at 3:58 p.m. Wednesday for his neighbor, saying she told him someone broke into her residence and stole her phone. Attempts were made to contact her legal guardian.
— A case of menacing was reported at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday on King Road, Butler Township, with a resident reporting another man has been threatening him through his work and he learned the man’s vehicle was in his driveway. He said he was calling and was going there to check on a relative.
— A case of suspected fraud was reported at 1:09 p.m. Wednesday on Lucille Drive, Lisbon by a man who said he’s been sending money to a company he found on a website claiming he could travel to Dubai for free if he sent the king a gift. This has been going on since February this year. Apparently he was talking to someone through WhatsApp and told he won a trip to Dubai to meet the royal family and that Middle Eastern countries require a gift to visit and bought a royal robe.
— A deputy was called at 11:49 a.m. Wednesday to do a welfare check on a man from Glasgow Road, Lisbon who was calling people from a prior facility he was recently kicked out of, was making no sense and talking off the wall. A deputy spoke with him and he was ok.
— A man on Gorby Road, Middleton Township reported at 11:39 a.m. Wednesday that a person was using his vehicle without permission.
— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 6:38 a.m. Wednesday at Ag Pro on U.S. Route 62, Alliance by a manager watching from cameras, but not on the scene, saying there were two trucks and one had a trailer in the parking lot. He had received an alert and then the cameras went offline, but then called back and canceled the call, saying he knew the one truck was making a delivery and the other was disabled.
— A domestic violence call was reported at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday on Bear Hollow Road, Lisbon, possibly juvenile-related.
— A domestic violence call was reported at 8:26 p.m. Tuesday on Buckeye Road, Madison Township by a man who reported a woman scratched his neck and was freaking out and they pulled over. She was screaming at him to get back in the car. A deputy didn’t find the vehicle and could not reach the man by phone.
— A woman from West Pine Lake Road, Salem reported at 8:16 p.m. Tuesday that she lost her .22-caliber long rifle revolver when she was on the Greenway trail near Leetonia five or six weeks ago.
— A woman on Alliance Sebring Road, Alliance called at 5:53 p.m. Tuesday to request a welfare check on her brother in Butler Township due to his girlfriend’s ex making threats to harm him. A deputy spoke with the brother and he was fine.
— A deputy was dispatched at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 29000 block of U.S. Route 30, Hanover Township for a missing person out of Jefferson County who was walking on foot in the area. Dispatch advised the caller was a family member the person sent a picture of the area on cell phone and sent it to the family member. The deputy checked the area but didn’t find anyone.
— A welfare check was requested at 3:13 p.m. Tuesday on West Washington Street that eventually led to a Center Township residence. The person in question was found to be ok and was later given a courtesy transport to an undisclosed location.
— An unruly juvenile was reported at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday on Melissa Lane, West Township.
— A woman on King Road, Butler Township reported at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday that she has a sign belonging to the county that her previous employee admitted to stealing. She had allowed him to store some personal items in their shed while he was moving and he did not take the sign with him when he took his other belongings.
— A caller at 8:22 a.m. Tuesday on Old state Route 344, Leetonia reported an 8-year-old child was refusing to go to school.
— Deputies at 6:56 a.m. Tuesday responded to a Wayne Township address on Alderlick Road where a woman believed someone put soap in her pond in an attempt to kill the fish. She also said her fence was opened. Deputies investigated near the fence and did not see any physical damage and noted there were no clear signs of anyone tampering with the pond. Hoses were hooked up causing the water to circulate and bubble. There was no residue or signs of soap being placed in the pond.
— Four-wheelers were reported in a hay field causing damage at 8:10 p.m. Monday on Bell Road, Lisbon.
— A domestic violence complaint was reported at 6:02 p.m. Monday on U.S. Route 30, Minerva area when a woman came to the Minerva Police Department. She was afraid to have police come to the residence.
— A caller from state Route 172, Minerva reported at 6:42 p.m. Monday that a woman with red hair driving a purple SUV stole produce from the Farmer’s Box on two separate occasions and did not pay. She didn’t want to file theft charges, but wanted the woman trespassed from the property. The deputy told her he can’t give a trespass warning without the woman being identified.
— A suicidal woman was reported at 4:54 p.m. Monday on state Route 14, Unity Township. She said she was having suicidal thoughts the last couple days and agreed to go to the hospital to be evaluated. She was transported to St. Elizabeth in Boardman.
— A state Route 45, Lisbon man reported fraud at 4:27 p.m. Monday, saying when he opened an Xfinity account through a door-to-door salesman, he had two bank accounts opened in New York in his name with multiple charges on them. He froze his bank accounts and credit score.
— A domestic dispute was reported at 3:52 p.m. Monday on Rose Drive, Lisbon. A woman said there were no threats or physical violence. She said a relative’s medication was changed and he was having adverse effects, including irritability, pacing and aggression. The counseling center was contacted, but she can’t get information on his care because he’s an adult. He refused to speak with deputies.
— A domestic dispute was reported at 3:44 p.m. Monday on U.S. Route 30, Minerva with the two sides separated. There were verbal threats, but it was physical on Saturday. A refusal was signed.
— At 1:42 p.m. Monday, a sheriff’s office sergeant was contacted by an adult parole authority officer who conducted an address verification on a sex offender and found he was not residing at the registered address.
— A woman on Sherwood Road, Yellow Creek Township, reported at 11:34 a.m. Monday that two others were harassing her, spitting on her and stole items from her camper. Later on she called screaming on 911 again and advised they unplugged her camper, but a deputy advised there was no electric to the camper to begin with and this was all a civil matter. She was warned about continuing to call 911 for non-emergencies and called again a few minutes later screaming and swearing. The call was ended.
— An Allen Drive, Center Township resident called at 11:17 a.m. Monday to report being solicited to send money through a bar code system at Walmart by someone alleging to be from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. The fraudulent representative claimed that a family member was incarcerated and needed cash to post bond for their release. The resident was told the phone call was a scam and the sheriff’s office would never request anyone send cash or other monetary options through digital transactions to unknown accounts. She did not give out any personal information but did send cash through a digital transfer.
— Fraud was reported at 10:54 a.m. Monday on U.S. Route 30, Minerva by a woman who said someone was claiming to be an employer.
