County Sheriff

–Jerry Teeter, Black Road, Lisbon, reported his mail box was stolen Wednesday night.

–Deputies were called to the Salem Township garage on state Route 558 at 11:28 a.m. Thursday because of a dispute resulting from the Leetonia Fire Department being contacted to extinguish a trash fire on the property next door. The property owner, Andy Entrikin, began harassing the firefighters. Entrikin was told should he continue burning brush to make sure there is no trash mixed in with it. He was also advised to check with the fire department to make sure he is in compliance.

–Deputies were called to the county jail at 11:13 p.m. Thursday because inmate Christopher Wallace came at the staff with a mop and was shouting and cursing. Wallace said he was upset because he thought he was would be released sooner under his plea deal in a theft case. Although Wallace did not become violent he did tell the deputy to “go ahead and beat his (expletive) if he wanted to and that we would have fun doing it” and he also told the deputy to stun him or kill him if he wanted. The deputies told Wallace no action would be necessary if he just calmed down and did what he was told. Wallace then voluntarily went to solitary confinement.

–Tim Adams, U.S. Route 30, Minerva, called about fireworks being fired off at 8:41 p.m. Thursday, but no fireworks could be heard by the time the deputy arrived 10:39 p.m.

–Deputies were called to to a residence on McCracken Road, Salem Township, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in regard to a man possible contemplating harming himself. While the man was going through a rough patch, he said he did not intend to harm himself. Family members arrived and said they would stay with him for a while.

— Ginny Harahuc, state Route 344, Salem Township, reported there was a van with some men and juveniles asking for gas at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, which she found suspicious. Deputies checked the area but found no other vehicle matching the description in the area.

–Matt Weingart, Westville Lake Road, Beloit, found some paperwork in his ditch belonging to a Hali Derr and the words “help me.” The deputies determined Derr’s last address was Struthers, but police there learned she moved. Derr’s family was contacted and they reported back she was fine.

–A deputy was flagged down by Jason Crawford, state Route 154, Negley, at 6:27 a.m. Friday, who reported finding a bullet hole in his house trailer exterior. The deputy examined the hole and determined it appeared to be 9 mm in size but it did not penetrate the interior paneling. Crawford then pointed out his door knob was loose, but the deputy said that could be just from normal wear and tear. Crawford said he has an idea who is responsible.

–Collin Houlett, state Route 154, Lisbon, called at 12:18 a.m. Friday about a possible domestic dispute, but no one was there by the time a deputy arrived 25 minutes later.

Lisbon

–Austin Davis, state Route 45, Lisbon, was slowing to stop for traffic in town when his vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle driven by Dalton Glover, of Cross Street, at 10:46 a.m. Thursday.

Columbiana

–Sara E. James, 39, of Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on North Main Street at 1:21 p.m. Thursday.

–Harley M. Barnhart, 19, of Columbiana, was cited for driving with fictitious plates and an expired registration following a traffic stop on Union Street at 4:12 p.m. Thursday. Her passenger — Tyler Robinson, 20, of Leetonia — was cited for a seat belt violation.

–Police were called Thursday to the Parkside Health Care Center in regard to a possible theft of items.

–Joe Bill Hamm II, 36, of Rocky Point, N.Y., was cited for running a stop sign and striking a vehicle operated by Jerome R. Jones, Fredericktown-Clarkson Road, Negley, at the intersection of South Elm and East Railroad streets at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday. Hamm was also cited for driving under suspension, and then taken into custody on an arrest warrant out of Florida.

— Klara M. Crisp, 16, of Kingwood Drive, was cited for failure to keep an assured cleared distance after she struck a pickup truck being driven by Donald E. Witmer, 59, Renkenberger Road, Columbiana, as he was entering the traffic roundabout at the center of town. This impact caused the airbag in Crisp’s vehicle to be activated and she was evaluated by EMTs but refused treatment.,

–Truck driver Mathew R. Hunter, 21, of Wooster, was cited for failure to stop an assured cleared distance after the moving truck he was driving struck an overhead railroad crossing on Lisbon Street at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday. The impact rendered the box truck unsafe to drive, so it was towed from the scene.

Perry Township

— A Sebring woman reported at 6:12 p.m. Thursday that she went to a male friend’s house on Pembrooke Drive and when she refused to leave, she was forcefully removed and wanted to pursue charges, alleging assault. The man told police he asked her to leave several times and she refused. The female did not report any injuries and statements were taken from both sides and sent to the prosecutor for review.

— A man in the 1100 block of West Perry Street called at 11 a.m. Thursday to report the theft of a pool stick from his residence while he was away driving trucks. He believed his girlfriend, who moved out while he was away, took the pool stick.

Salem

— Police responded at 12:16 a.m. Friday to the 200 block of West 13th Street for a loud party complaint, telling a large group of adults to disperse. Several drivers were checked for impairment before leaving. All were given warnings about trespassing and parking on private property.

— An officer responded at 11:32 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue regarding a light pole damaged due to the weather. Dispatch was advised to contact the street department.

— A domestic was reported at 10:35 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of West Perry Street where a woman said her teenage son got into an argument with her about being grounded, then left walking down the road. The mother agreed to let the juvenile stay at his grandmother’s for the night so he could calm down. The juvenile was told his mother is permitted to take disciplinary action when he becomes belligerant with her. The mother was told the process for filing unruly charges.

— An officer at 10:29 p.m. Thursday saw a vehicle commit a moving violation and initiated a traffic stop in the 800 block of New Garden Avenue. K-9 Simon was deployed and indicated to the presence of a narcotics scent. A probable cause search yielded contraband in the vehicle. Two juvenile occupants called their parents to the scene and the juvenile driver was taken into custody for delinquency and immediately released to his father. He will be contacted by the juvenile officer or juvenile court.

— A possible reckless/intoxicated driver was reported at 10:14 p.m. Thursday on West State Street at the city limits. The caller said the vehicle had passed several vehicles and was crossing the center line. The vehicle was located and stopped and the driver was not intoxicated, but said he was just trying to get to work. He was told to drive safely.

— A juvenile was reported in the road on East Seventh Street at 9:28 p.m. Thursday. Police made contact with a parent and the juvenile was inside. The father was advised of the complaint.

— Police were called at 7:52 p.m. Thursday to Salem Regional Medical Center for a person to be removed. A man was upset with his ex-girlfriend, but willingly left the hospital without incident.

— An alarm was reported at 7:51 p.m. Thursday in the 2200 block of East Pershing Street. The exterior was secure.

— Police responded at 7:27 p.m. Thursday to Salem Regional Medical Center for a report of menacing. A man was making threats to another man. Officers spoke to the man in question and he denied all accusations. He was advised of possible menacing charges should the behavior continue.

— An possible intoxicated driver was reported at 6:50 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of East State Street, but was not found.

— Richard McFarland III, 55, whose last known address was Ohio Avenue, and Shawn Cassinger, 51, of East Fourth Street, were each charged with a minor misdemeanor of disorderly conduct after police responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street for a reported fight at 6:32 p.m. Thursday. They were found engaged in a physical altercation, with both acting as the aggressor. Fire department first responders and EMT were called and one of the males was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Police were called at 4:36 p.m. Thursday to the 300 block of Sharp Avenue for a suspicious object on the curb lawn. Officers located two bottles/jugs that appeared to have a flammable liquid inside. The fire department was called to the scene and it was determined the objects were homemade tiki torches. Officers disposed of the items.

— A resident in the 1000 block of Buckeye Avenue reported finding a wallet with some cards in his front yard at 4:39 p.m. Thursday. The items were turned over to police and placed in the lost and found.

— A home in the 2300 block of Kennedy Drive was found secure Thursday afternoon, with police checking the interior with a keyholder.

— Drug paraphernalia was reported at 3:21 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of East Sixth Street where officers took possession of a loaded syringe. The item was taken to the station for proper disposal.

— Two suspicious persons were reported at 3:12 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of West Pershing Street. It was determined the two persons were relatives of the property owner.

— Police were asked at 11:47 a.m. Thursday to check the welfare of a city resident in the 1500 block of Cleveland Street. Officers spoke with the person and then a family member arrived.

— A woman from the 900 block of West Wilson Street called at 10:20 a.m,. Thursday to report red nail polish splattered on her vehicle.

— A break-in was reported at 8:05 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of West 10th Street. A stereo head unit and the car jack were reported stolen.

Goshen Police District

— Police responded to Coy Park in Green Township at 12:09 a.m. June 21 in reference to several vehicles off road and found several individuals in multiple vehicles in the wooded area behind the park. The individuals said Maguire John Fullum, 16, Salem, had gotten his jeep stuck and that they had attempted to use the other vehicles to get it out but were unsuccessful. The officers located the vehicle and found it was severely stuck on property that officers could not determine who owned it. Officers returned the next day and found the vehicle was on Green Township property, leaving deep ruts. A tow truck was unable to reach the vehicle, so a neighbor pulled it out with a tractor. Maguire was cited with criminal trespassing and criminal damaging. Those cited for criminal trespassing included Brittany Nicole Poling, 19, Salem; Noah McIntosh, 18, Salem; Durand R. Foutz, 24, New Middletown; Jamie Leigh Jackson, 17, Salem; Megan Marie Rice, 17, Salem; Peyton Lee Guiler, 19, Salem; Tyler Andrew Marschinke, 19, Beloit; and Sarah Inez McIntosh, 17, Salem.

— Teresa Marie Riley, 53, Allen Drive, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension, expired registration and fictitious plates following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 62 at Knauf Road at 11:20 a.m. Friday.

East Liverpool

— Officers were dispatched Wednesday night to Smith Street for a man down near the post office. As they approached the area, they reported hearing what sounded like someone being slapped repeatedly and found three men holding up Travis Keener, 30, Glenn Street, with one of the men slapping him, trying to awaken him. Two of the men said they were passersby and the one slapping him was identified as Cary Barnes, and none knew what Keener had taken. Barnes was told to stop slapping him because Keener was breathing, but Barnes pointed out it had been working for over 15 minutes. He was asked why, if Keener had been unconscious for 15 minutes, he had not called for help, but Barnes said he had no phone, according to reports. Keener was crying hysterically, banging his head off a metal pole and saying he wanted to die at one point, officers reported. An ambulance arrived, and he was given a dose of Narcan, which officers said calmed him. Keener was transported to the hospital and was charged with intoxication.

— While trying to turn from Lisbon Street into a driveway, a vehicle driven by James A. Davis, 49, Lisbon Street, was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Freddie L. Plum, 18, state Route 267, after his vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Rachel R. Mazza, South Shady Lane. No injuries or charges were reported.
