EAST PALESTINE — The East Palestine School District has partnered with a non-profit organization to help with workforce readiness and career-technical education partnerships. The Board of Education approved a contract in August with Team Workforce of Youngstown at a cost of $197,465. Trash will be collected in East Liverpool on Labor Day Trash is being collected from East Liverpool residents on the upcoming Labor Day holiday. The city refuse and recycling department employees are scheduled to work Monday, Sept. 7. Residents whose trash is normally collected on Monday are asked to have their carts set out at the curb for pick up as usual. COLUMBUS — Three local agencies have received funds to help communities connect survivors of opioid addiction to treatment and recovery. The Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board will receive $126,198, the East Palestine Police Department $24,315and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office $144,942.91. LISBON — Upcoming court dates were set Monday in the case against Heather J. Birkmire, who is accused of cruelty to animals in the deaths of five horses last year at Pure Gold Stables in Salem Township. Dates were set for a status conference hearing at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 28, and a jury trial at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 12 during a brief pretrial hearing Monday.
