Beavers deal Eagles first loss

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local handed United its first loss of the season, 5-1, in girls soccer action Wednesday. Leah Stewart and Peyton Dunn each scored goals in both the first and second half. Stewart also had two assists. Alexis Lasure rounded out the scoring for the Beavers. Tatum Duncan made eight saves in goal. CANFIELD — The Beaver Local boys came out on top of Suburban League cross country action Tuesday at the Youngstown State University Course across from the Canfield Fairgrounds. The Beavers topped the 10-team field with 48 points. McDonald was second with 96 points and Columbiana third with 97. Luke Warrick led the Beavers with a second-place finish behind McDonald's Owen Cappuzello. The Beavers had three of the top nine runners with Mason Boggs in eighth and Cole Long in ninth.
