WHEELING, W.Va. -- Columbiana was the runner-up in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Girls Golf Championships on Wednesday.
The Clippers shot a 393 to finish behind Fort Frye’s 350 in Class 1A-3A at the Crispin Golf Course at Oglebay Park.
Fort Frye’s Realeigh Warden and Khoen Courson were the top two finishers with 18-hole scores of 76 and 80, respectively.
Columbina’s Claire Banner was third (89), Columbiana’s Maddie Jackson fifth (92), Southern’s Rylee Digman ninth (104) and Columbiana’s Victoria Buckingham 10th (105).
In Class 4-5A, Beaver Local was seventh with a 386.
It's been quite a month for Wheeling Park's Ellie West.
The Patriots freshman sensation fired a sizzling 32 on the back nine holes to earn medalist honors with an even par 71 (39-32) during the Class 4A-5A tournament.
"It's been pretty good overall. I've had some wins and some losses," the 14-year-old said. "I've learned a lot this season."
Just a week ago, West shot a state-record 66 to win the modified West Virginia state tournament at The Links at Woodbridge in Mineral Wells.
"I'd have to say that the state tournament means a little more to me because I set the state record," West admitted. "That was pretty cool."
In previous years, the OVAC girls tournament was an all-class event. However, it was divided into two groups for 2026.
