Beaver Local traps state championship

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Beaver Local trap team won the Class 2A Ohio State High School Trap Shooting Championship at the Blackwing Shooting Center on Sunday.
The top five shooters on the Beaver Local team had a combined score of 474 out of 500, two birds ahead of defending champion North Ridgeville.
Monroe Central’s Cooper McCaslin was the top individual with a 98. Beaver Local took the next two spots with Kane Curran in second with a 97 and and Jackson Thomas in third with a 97.
Other leaders for Beaver Local were Hunter Allen (97), Trenton Cable (93), Keith Gamble (90) and Jason Tatgenhorst (90)
This is Beaver Local’s fourth year as a team and the roster has grown to 47 shooters.
Beaver Local’s Ava Aftanis took first place in the female junior varsity division, shooting 71 out of 100.
Twelve members of the team will traveling to Mason, Michigan, for the National High School Championship on July 7-11.
