Two voices raised on the race for county recorder

Editor: It is ironic the Democrat candidate for county recorder, Tiffany Chetock, is running for county office on her “record of saving money” and her “extensive training in fiscal management.” Yet, as Madison Township fiscal officer, her record has been anything but fiscally responsible. In fact, many believe that she has just plain mishandled the funds that the taxpayers of Madison Township have entrusted to her. With Tiffany Chetock as fiscal officer of Madison Township, moreover, spending has risen three of the past four years. In total, these increases in spending ...

Two voices raised on the race for county recorder

Editor: I find it equally amusing and baffling that Tiffany Chetock continues to unfairly criticize incumbent Columbiana County Recorder Theresa Bosel despite the fact Chetock doesn’t even know what the job entails. What the voters of Columbiana County should conclude from this Sunday’s front page story is the second to last paragraph, “Chetock has no specific plans for the office, but if elected, will visit other recorders to better learn the job.” She admits she has no idea what she’s doing. Chetock is using dirty tactics to deceitfully pull the wool over voters’ ...

Our choice

Editor: In regards to the letter concerning Halloween: I’d be more worried about what my child was watching on TV or the internet than I would be about them dressing up and going out trick or treating. The problem is not the children, it is what their parents are allowing them to be taught in schools and what the parents have given up, their parenting duty. You had the child, you teach, you set the example, you make the decisions that will shape their morals and character. Stop letting the government do what you should be doing and do it without any excuses. There is an ...

Election prayer

Editor: I think with less than 20 days until the election, it is time to really start praying for this election and for this country. 2nd Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” We need to pray this each day up until the election and even after the election. This country needs to get “one nation under God” back into existence. Dorothy J. Faloba Lisbon

High stakes

Editor: As printed in the Journal on Oct. 12, John Dyce was taking state Rep. Tim Ginter’s support of Donald Trump into question because he is a Christian minister and Trump made nasty comments about women. First off, if John Dyce knows anything about Christianity, he should also know about forgiveness. I know I am not entirely the same person I was 10 years ago and I don’t know anyone who is. No human is proud of everything they have done or said in his or her life and everything should not be held against them. As a man who does respect women, I cannot say I like what ...

Harmless fun?

Editor: Wake up America. Sound an alarm. Doesn’t anyone see the inconsistency, the hypocrisy, the danger of what is happening around us? On page 1 of the paper is a headline wanting people to not wear clown costumes because it’s “foolish and dangerous.” Then on page 9 is a picture inviting people to the Creepy Hollows Haunted Trail in East Palestine. All month long we will be bombarded with haunted house ads and movie promos showing horrifying scenes of blood and gore and horrific screams. People’s yards, everywhere, will have spiders and ghosts and ...
