Negley’s danger

Editor: In September a lawsuit was presented to Common Pleas Court regarding the fact that human body parts were in the debris dumped in the landfill above Negley. Negley’s source of drinking water is in a direct line below the dump. The geological drainage runs south toward the Ohio River, right through Negley. Each home in Negley has its own private well in line with the southern drainage. Why would any organization like the Ohio EPA and the Columbiana County Heath Department permit such harmful health and environmental problems to occur? Was it the tipping fees given ...

Editor: According to the Health and Hunger in America 2014 report presented by Feeding America, over half (58 percent) of the households that access food pantries have at least one member with high blood pressure. One-third of the households have a member with diabetes, and more than three in four households (79 percent) reported purchasing inexpensive, unhealthy foods to make ends meet. As most of you know we have been working hard to promote passage of a 1 percent income tax on earned income for the Lisbon School District. Editor: I find it equally amusing and baffling that Tiffany Chetock continues to unfairly criticize incumbent Columbiana County Recorder Theresa Bosel despite the fact Chetock doesn’t even know what the job entails. What the voters of Columbiana County should conclude from this Sunday’s front page story is the second to last paragraph, “Chetock has no specific plans for the office, but if elected, will visit other recorders to better learn the job.” She admits she has no idea what she’s doing. Editor: In regards to the letter concerning Halloween: I’d be more worried about what my child was watching on TV or the internet than I would be about them dressing up and going out trick or treating. The problem is not the children, it is what their parents are allowing them to be taught in schools and what the parents have given up, their parenting duty. You had the child, you teach, you set the example, you make the decisions that will shape their morals and character.
