Removal of books should be a wake-up call

To the editor: I watch the news this morning and see that President Biden has decided to remove Dr. Seuss books. There are six books that will not be published. This is dictatorship, as far as I am concerned. I do not think the president should have the right to do this. It is overstepping his boundaries. We are slowly losing our freedom of speech and now publications. What’s next? This should be a wake-up call to all of us! Wake up America!!! Shirley Anderson, New Waterford

Ohio should promote not discourage use of electric vehicles

To the editor: “Voltage Valley”? Currently, electric vehicle (EV) registration fees are the resistance. Starting in 2020, Ohio started charging a disproportional and, frankly, unfair additional licensing fee for hybrid and electric vehicles of $100 and $200, respectively. For our two Chevy Volts, I’ll be paying an extra $400 per year because of this fee. Since the Volt is a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) and also uses gas as well as electric, we are actually being triple taxed: for the gas, for the electric, and the extra license fee. To the editor: Quaker City and Norwalk race track have been great family tracks for my family to get out on the weekends to enjoy. The racers often represent locals and is a way to get together and enjoy community together. I write to request that Congress create a grant program to support recreation, sports, and amusement venues that provide live entertainment yet were excluded from “Shuttered Venue Operators Grants” program (Section 324 of Public Law No:116-260). Disappointed with recent Crestview article

To the editor: I was disappointed to read the (Feb. 12) article about Crestview Local Schools, and how COVID19 has been handled in regard to classes. Crestview is where I graduated from, and you won’t find more caring or compassionate staff. My husband has cancer and is immune compromised by his medication. Our children bringing home Covid would be a death sentence. This virus and the inconvenience is temporary, death is permanent. To the editor: Nearly 60 million people say they would join a union today if they could. The problem? Union-busters, Big Business and woefully outdated laws continue to undermine the right to collectively bargain. Just take “right to work” laws, for example. To the editor: In response to Leonard Pitts’  Feb. 10 editorial,  let me say….“Good” is EXACTLY what it is……. I don’t always get a chance to read the opinion page of our daily paper, but since I was feeling under the weather, I decided to indulge myself.
