Congrats to the Columbiana County voters

To the editor: I would like to congratulate Columbiana County voters. According to unofficial results from the Ohio Secretary of State, the August 2 special primary had very low voter turnout across the state, only 7.93%.  Columbiana County was 1 of only 14 counties with 10% or greater voter turnout. Neighboring counties, Mahoning and Stark had 9.08% and 5.69%, respectively. Encouraging others to help out in communities

To the editor: “Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.” You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You only need a big heart. I would like to encourage our youth, our younger generations, the Millennials, and Gen Zers, to step up and serve your community. Why not support a chicken petition?

To the editor: As reported on June 13, 2020 in the Morning Journal, the Lisbon Village Council voted 6-0 to keep the law banning the harboring of livestock and chickens within the Village limits intact. This action was taken after a community member provided them with a petition signed by 21 individuals requesting chickens to be allowed. Here we are in 2022 and a majority of our Village Council members that denied the petition in 2020 are now voting to allow chickens. To the editor: When did we start believing that the two major political parties— vehicles designed to hoard power — get to dictate our values? Weren’t values supposed to be determined by our local communities, through culture, civics, and spiritual life? Not surprisingly, the political parties are doing an awful job. Fond moments of the EL All-Class Reunion

To the editor: Our company has all gone home. The house is quiet now, but it’s great to remember what a wonderful time we enjoyed during the EL All-Class Reunion. Jeannie Casto Dunlevy, my first grade friend from Glenmoor in 1937, returned from Fredrick, Maryland, as did Francis Bentz from Stuart, Florida, and they both enjoyed the old guard luncheon with us on Friday. The EL High School students served, cleaned the tables and even valet parked our cars.
