312 vehicles pass through OVI checkpoint held on Route 7
LISBON — The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and Columbiana Police Department conducted a multi-agency OVI Checkpoint from 8 to 10 p.m. June 10 at mile post 20 on state Route 7 in Rogers.
A total of 312 vehicles passed through the checkpoint with one vehicle being diverted to a secondary area. In addition to the checkpoint, troopers worked saturation patrols in the area. A total of 23 vehicles were stopped with two citations issued.
The OVI checkpoint and saturation patrols were funded by fines from impaired drivers and other federal funding. The goal was to make motorists more aware of the impaired driver problem in Ohio, help bring about a reduction in the number of alcohol and drug related crashes and deter and intercept impaired drivers.
