Police
County Sheriff
– Sheila Carmelo, One Stop, Hanoverton, reported at 12:36 p.m. Saturday a man tried to use a stolen Mastercard to purchase a 30-pack of Busch Light, a pack of Camel Silver cigarettes and a pack of Marlboro Special Blend. After the cad was declined the first time, Carmelo told deputies she ran it twice more before the man decided to pay cash, grabbed the Mastercard from her hand and left. She described the man to deputies as in his late 50s with short gray hair, tall and skinny with blue eyes and dirty hands. He was the passenger in a newer red Ford F-150 pickup.
– Cliff Jones, Gavers Road, Hanoverton, reported that sometime between late afternoon Friday and 2:45 p.m. Saturday someone entered his unlocked 2003 Dodge Ram truck and took a plastic chocolate milk bottle and about $9 from the center console.
– Heidi Miller, Gavers Road, Hanoverton, reported that sometime between 10:45 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday someone entered her unlocked 2003 Chevy Cavalier and took her purse containing her wallet containing her license, credit card, Giant Eagle Advantage card, bank checks from her account and other items. She found the shell of her wallet on Trinity Church Road off U.S. Route 30 in front of a group of trailers.
Highway Patrol
– Tracer Todd Yergin, 17, Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, was southbound on Tomahawk Drive in Middleton Township at 12:49 a.m. Saturday when he drove off the left side of the road on a bend and struck a utility pole. Two of his passengers were in the bed of the pickup – Quentin Carr, 18, McCormick Run Road, Lisbon, and Joshua Smith, 16, Tomahawk Drive, Negley – and were taken to Salem Regional Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. Yergin and Jacob William Smith, 18, Tomahawk Drive, Negley, were both uninjured inside the pickup’s cab. Yergin was cited with failure to maintain reasonable control.
– Beverly D. McIntyre, 58, Belleflower Road, Alliance, struck and killed a deer on Ridgehill Road in Washington Township, Stark County, at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
– Joseph Robert Anderson, 44, West Ely Street, Alliance, struck and killed a deer on U.S. Route 30 in Madison Township at 12:13 a.m. Wednesday.
– Phillip C. Walter, 45, Lynchburg Road, Kensington, struck and killed a deer on U.S. Route 30 in West Township at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
Columbiana
– Police stood by at a Union Street, Columbiana, home at 11:45 a.m. Saturday while Ron Hoffman retrieved property at the home. There were no problems.
– Police assisted a person who was locked out of her vehicle at the Dutch Cupboard in Columbiana while her child was inside at 12:43 p.m. Saturday. They were able to get inside.
– Josie M. Borelie, Columbiana, went to the police station at 5:55 p.m. Saturday and asked police to verify she had removed her IV after signing herself out of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.
-A possibly intoxicated driver was reported at the pumps at the Duke and Duchess at 9:45 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.
East Palestine
– During a traffic stop on Prospect Street at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 20, Lee T. Knight, 19, Bacon Avenue, was cited with driving without a valid license, while his mother Lorraine S. Knight, 48, West Street, was cited with wrongful entrustment.
Salem
– Police responded to an alarm at a business in the 1400 block of Allen Road at 1:48 a.m. Sunday. Officers located an open door, a key holder arrived and officers checked the interior.
– An alarm activation was reported at 1:40 a.m. Sunday at a business in the 2800 block of East State Street. All outer perimeter doors appeared secure.
– Police responded to a pair of calls on Pearce Circle Saturday night, with one resident at 10:59 p.m. reporting a person ringing doorbells and running through yards. Another resident at 7:55 p.m. had reported someone knocking on her windows and door. No one was there when she went to answer the door. Police were unable to find anyone during searches of the area. Police had responded to an audible alarm at 6:54 p.m. in the 1700 block of Pearce Circle, but found the residence secure.
– Police were called at 9:59 p.m. Saturday to the area of East State Street and the city limits for a reported three-vehicle accident with injuries. The accident was located on state Route 14 near Egypt Road in Goshen Township territory in Green Township. City police provided traffic control until the proper police authority arrived on the scene. No other information was available about the accident.
-A man from the 500 block of Columbia Street reported at 8:41 p.m. Saturday that he received a threat from a person known to him. He was told his options and the other person was contacted by police and told to stop.
– Police were called at 7:14 p.m. Saturday to the 1200 block of East Third Street for a report of breaking and entering. A man had been legally evicted by the homeowner at the end of their relationship and he was on the property to get more of his possessions. He entered the house by knocking in a plastic window. The caller wanted the incident documented. The man was told not to enter the residence, but said he was retrieving the rest of his stuff that night.
– A woman in the 1000 block of East Pershing Street spoke to an officer at 5:34 p.m. Saturday about being a victim of identity theft. She was told her options.
– A man in the 1300 block of South Union Avenue reported at 5:19 p.m. Saturday that someone unknown entered his residence and took his computer.
– A man in the 200 block of West Eighth Street reported at 4:51 p.m. Saturday that someone walked into his house while he was in the shower and took two of his wallets.
– Thomas Piatt, 21, of 438 Vine Ave., was taken into custody at 3:20 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear. He was turned over to a Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
POLICE
Highway Patrol
– Joshua G. Carpenter, 27, New Philadelphia, stopped at a stop sign on Bethesda Road in Franklin Township at 10 a.m. Friday, before pulling across state Route 644 into the path of Earl C. Nemeth, 61, state Route 644, Hanoverton. Nemeth swerved to avoid Carpenter and drove off the right side of the road, first striking a guardrail, then went over an embankment and struck a tree. Nemeth noted a possible injury, but was not treated. Carpenter was cited with failure to yield the right of way.
– Janet R. Sendling, 64, Pritchard Drive, Lisbon, and Dana Marie Burgess, 21, East Chestnut Street, Lisbon, were northbound on state Route 164 in Center Township at 2:29 p.m. Thursday when Sendling stopped for traffic and was struck from behind by Burgess. Sendling was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, and Burgess was cited with assured clear distance.
– Nancy S. Temme, 74, Ellyson Road, East Rochester, was southbound on Depot Road in Center Township at 8 a.m. Tuesday when she drove off the left edge of the roadway and into a lake. She was not injured, but was cited with reasonable control. The vehicle was partially submerged and a tow service was called to pull the vehicle with the driver still inside out of the water. Temme told troopers she was not injured and she had attempted to pull into the gravel lot next to the lake until her frosted windshield cleared.
– Lauren A. O’Donnell, 34, East Euclid Avenue, Salem, was southbound on state Route 45 in Salem Township at 7:40 a.m. Monday when she struck a deer.
– Walker J. Trayes, 19, Quincy Avenue, Columbiana, was driving southeast bound on state Route 558 in Unity Township at 6:10 a.m. Monday when he failed to negotiate a curve, first going off the right side of the roadway and striking a guardrail, but then traveling off the left side and striking an embankment. Trayes was cited both with reasonable control and driving under suspension.
County Sheriff
– Robbie Meredith, Orchard Knoll Drive, Lisbon, reported at 11:56 p.m. Friday he saw Virgil Garretson choking his mother, Rebecca Meredith in the driveway. He also reported his mother’s vehicle windshield was damaged by Garretson. Deputies spoke to Rebecca Meredith, who said she and Garretson were arguing and she broke the windshield instead of hitting him. She also claimed she was not harmed, and she was the one who damaged things inside of her house. Garretson was not there at the time. No charges were filed.
– Jason Hill, Misty Morning Lane, Salem, reported at 1:50 a.m. Saturday there was a suspicious vehicle. A deputy found the pickup truck and ran the license plates finding nothing invalid. The deputy secured the vehicle, which was parked safely along the side of the road and left a business card.
– John White, Foundry Hill Road, Hanoverton, reported at 10:29 a.m. Saturday someone dumped about 40 to 50 tires on his property.
– Jamie Livolsi of AT&T reported at 11:45 a.m. Saturday someone stole 500 feet of cable from 18th Street Heights in Wellsville.
– Constance Covert, Valley Road, Salem, reported at 4:45 p.m. Friday her neighbor and landlord, Dolly McDowney put trail cameras up around her home with cameras pointing in the windows. Covert said she put a tarp over the camera pointing into the bedroom window, and McDowney took it down. Covert said she has until Nov. 30 to be out of the home.
– David Pickens, state Route 170, Negley, reported at 4:02 p.m. Friday his Gator ATV was missing from his garage. He believed his soon-to-be ex-wife took the Gator. Deputies explained if she took it, that makes it a civil matter. He became upset about the explanation and hung up on the deputy.
Lisbon
– A smoke alarm was reported in room 104 at the Fleming House at 4:31 p.m. Friday. A second smoke alarm was reported at the Fleming House at 8:27 a.m. Saturday.
Center Township
– A sexual assault was reported on Pritchard Avenue Extension on Nov. 20 with a mother reporting her juvenile daughter was sexually assaulted by a family member. The matter is under investigation.
– Police responded to Rose Drive apartments on Nov. 20 where a woman claimed a man ran towards her. Police checked the area but could not locate anyone.
– Police responded to Pondi’s for an intoxicated man in a vehicle on Friday. When they arrived, police found he had consumed too much alcohol. He called his father, who picked him up.
Columbiana
– Cheryl Rae Elder, 57, Sykesville, Md., was backing out of a driveway on Manor Drive at 6:42 p.m. Friday when she steered off the driveway, into the yard and struck a fire hydrant. The fire hydrant was damaged and spilling water. The water department was alerted to shut off the water.
-A noise complaint was made at 2:16 a.m. Friday on South Main Street. the person responsible for making noise was warned.
– Police checked the area of state Route 344 and the city limits for a vehicle involved in an incident in Leetonia. The vehicle was not located.
– Allison Suggett, North Pearl Street, reported at 9:20 p.m. Friday her son’s father, Preston Woods, went to her mother’s house where she was staying and banged on the door wanting in. Then he left, but continued to circle the area. Police contacted Woods by telephone and told him not to return there.
– A woman on East Friend Street reported at 11:33 p.m. Friday someone had a huge fire in their backyard and embers were flying everywhere. Police spoke to the residents at 132 E. Friend St., who said they were done burning for the evening and letting the fire burn down.
Salem
– Officers responded at 11:54 p.m. Friday with fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance to the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue where a man was down. The man was found to be intoxicated and had apparently fallen. He was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
– A woman from Lexington Avenue reported at 11:04 p.m. Friday that a man was verbally harassing her in the 500 block of East Pershing Street.
– Police were called at 10:21 p.m. Friday to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge for criminal damage that occurred in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue. The suspect could not be located.
– A clerk from Murphy USA reported at 10:02 p.m. Friday that an unknown person in a dark blue Pontiac G6 left without paying for $20 worth of gasoline. Contact will be made with the passenger who was identified.
– Police were called at 7:03 p.m. Friday to Speedway for a person loitering in the parking lot. No one was located.
– Sharman Callahan, 64, of Kennedy Drive, was cited for failure to yield after he attempted to turn right from Continental onto East State Street and his vehicle collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Ricky Armstrong, 58, of Depot Road, at 5:08 p.m. Friday.
– A woman in the 700 block of Franklin reported at 2:53 p.m. Friday that she received a letter that said she won a cash prize and all she needed to do was send a portion of a check that was sent with the letter back to cover taxes and fees. An officer told her it was a scam.
– A man came to the station at 2:32 p.m. Friday to report getting into a verbal dispute with another man at a local business in the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue. There was no physical altercation.
– A man in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 12:05 p.m. Friday that a package of merchandise delivered to his house was apparently taken from outside the residence. The U.S. Postal Service confirmed that the package was delivered.
POLICE
County Sheriff
– Carleen Bechtel, state Route 14, Columbiana, reported at 9 p.m. Thursday her live-in boyfriend James Homman Jr., withdrew more than $300 from their shared bank account and that when she confronted him about it, he got into a car and began to back up into the path of where she was standing, causing her son Brian to fear for her life and begin to hit the car window with a nearby umbrella to get Homman’s attention to stop the vehicle. A deputy spoke with Homman, and he said he would pay back the money he took that was not from his own paycheck. He also told the deputy he did not know Bechtel was behind the vehicle when he was backing. He and Bechtel declined to press charges.
– A deputy checked on a suspicious vehicle on Lisbon-Canfield Road in Salem at 12:30 a.m. Friday. There were no problems.
– A deputy was called to a possible domestic incident at the Consumer’s Bank parking lot in Hanover Township at 7:21 p.m. Sunday. A deputy found Damian Cope, Charity Todd, Madison Brennan and Faylee Todd nearby, and the group told the deputy they were in a verbal argument over Todd’s mother.
– A deputy was called to 6123 state Route 164 at 8:22 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious person looking into a garage there. No one was found on the property.
– A deputy was called to 212 Wilderson Ave. in Unity Township at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a brush fire. Valerie Rockenberger told the deputy that a poacher had been on the land and set the area on fire before they left. The East Palestine Fire Department was contacted and police and firefighters did not find anyone on the property.
– Francis Koenig, Columbiana-Waterford Road, Columbiana, reported at 11:12 a.m. Wednesday someone appears to be tampering with her mail as her mail carrier had given her an empty box that day that the carrier said she had found it in a ditch in front of Koenig’s home. Koenig told a deputy the box was an order she had been waiting for from QVC containing a wallet totaling $41. Koenig also told the deputy she found someone else’s mail in her box with a letter partially opened the day before.
– A deputy was called to 4123 Kirk Rd. at 10:37 p.m. Wednesday by New Waterford EMS for a man who said he had a dream that he killed his family and friends, but when he woke up he took some medication and felt better. The man voluntarily went with EMS to Trumbull Memorial Hospital for an evaluation.
– Alexis Vandepol, Cricket Lane, Columbiana, reported at 11:13 a.m. Wednesday her mother Machelle had grabbed her by the neck at the home and they were wrestling on the ground in the yard. Vandepol told a deputy she was there to pick up her belongings and her child, and her mother would not give her the child. Machelle, last name not listed, told the deputy they were on the ground wrestling and she was trying to separate her two daughters. Vandepol and her mother did not wish to press charges, and the deputy told Machelle that because she does not have custody of the child, she would need to allow her daughter to leave with the child.
Lisbon
– Police were called to 521 N. Jefferson St. at 11:14 a.m. Friday for a report that George Burkey went on a rant the day before and threatened to burn the house down and kill his mother’s animals and himself. Police spoke to George Burkey, who denied hurting his mother physically but said he had a bad day the day before. Police told him to stop taking his bad days out on his mother and to get help by calling police or an ambulance if he needs one during those times. Police also told him they would be by to check on his mother every once in a while. Burkey agreed and said he understood.
– Police were called to the corner of West Chestnut and North Beaver streets at 8:16 a.m. Wednesday for a report that a semi that turned north on Beaver Street from West Chestnut had hit the street sign and knocked it down. The street department was notified of the sign.
– Police told a man he needed to move his truck from in front of a business on West Lincoln Way at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday. The man moved his truck with no problems.
– Police were called to the Mental Health Department on state Route 154 at 3 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an altercation in the parking lot. A woman told police her ex-boyfriend who lives in the Kendall House took her belongings and was refusing to give them back and that he hurt her finger when he was putting the TV back in her car. The Mental Health Department manager told police he witnessed the altercation and saw no physical violence. Police stood by while the woman retrieved her belongings from the building, and there were no further problems.
Columbiana
– David F. Stoy, 78, Old North, Columbiana, was making a left turn from state Route 14 into a private drive at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday and struck Greg A. Riddle, 55, Poland, who was westbound on state Route 14 within the right turn lane for state Route 164. Stoy was cited for failure to yield making a left turn.
– Someone reported at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday there were two kids in the clothing bin at the rear of the Lutheran Church. Police warned the boys for trespassing.
– A Circle K employee reported at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday someone paid for items using rolls of half dollars.
– A man reported at 3:59 p.m. Wednesday Trevor Lodge, 21, Salem, and Ricki Woods, 20, Columbiana, were fighting on South West Street. Police spoke with Lodge and Woods, and both did not wish to press charges.
– Police stood by for Columbia Gas after a leak was reported near Cashland at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday.
– Ashley Wood, South West Street, reported at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday her ex-boyfriend, Trevor Lodge, had been driving around her house and made threats to damage her car.
– A woman reported at 10:47 p.m. Wednesday she saw a man with a large duffel bag near the railroad tracks on Parkview Drive, and that she also saw him step in front of a car and try to flag it down, and believed he may need help. Police checked the area but the man was no longer there.
Salem
– Patty J. Colian, 65, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a three-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of East State Street at 3:33 p.m. Tuesday in which she was eastbound and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by David A. Shaffer, 59, Salem, and pushing it into the rear of a vehicle driven by Beth A. Hale, 30, Salem. Colian and her 19-year-old passenger, as well as Shaffer, were transported by ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center for possible injuries.
– An officer responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:18 a.m. Thursday where a resident had video footage of a man entering his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway. The resident said nothing was missing, however.
– Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center Emergency Room at 12:12 a.m. Friday where a female juvenile who had been brought in earlier that night after making suicidal threats told nurses that her father had been abusing her and had struck her earlier in the evening. The officers spoke with the juvenile’s parents who said that she was acting out and may have been accidentally hit by her older sister but not her father.
– An officer responded to the 1300 block of Carole Drive at 2:45 a.m. Friday in reference to a waterline break. The officer found the break and notified the water department.
– A patrolling officer at 4:50 a.m. Friday observed a waterline break on the high school property. The water department and school administrators were notified.

– New Waterford EMS requested a deputy go to a Kirk Road home, where the resident said he had a dream he killed his family and friends but, after taking a clonapin, he felt better. The man voluntarily went to Trumbull Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
Salem
– An officer investigating a complaint in the 300 block of Vine Avenue at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday discovered property on an arrested juvenile that suggested a possible trespass in a vehicle. The suspected owner of the property confirmed that someone had taken prescription medication and a CD player faceplate from her vehicle parked at her Lancaster, Ohio, home.
– An officer responded to a 600 block North Lincoln Avenue home at 7:14 a.m. Wednesday where a woman reported someone had taken $100 cash from her wallet inside her vehicle, as well auxiliary radio and USB cords.
– Police responded to a reported fight between two men in the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday and found a verbal dispute between a man in vehicle and one standing outside the vehicle. Officers discovered that the dispute originated as a physical altercation in Columbiana approximately 30 minutes prior and that a female passenger was inside a home gathering personal belongings. The officers stood by until the people in the vehicle left.
– Christine L. Manges, 29, 829 Morris Ave., Salem, was charged with OVI and driving under suspension following a report of an intoxicated driver in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Southeast Boulevard at 5:54 p.m. Wednesday.
– A 100 block South Union Avenue resident reported at 6:09 p.m. Wednesday observing a known man walking away from a neighboring home of a person with whom the man no longer associates. The resident said nothing appeared to be wrong, but that he was concerned the man was tampering with the home.
– An officer responded to the north side of Waterworth Memorial Park off Sunset Drive at 6:17 p.m. Wednesday for a report of several suspicious vehicles and people. They were found to be numerous firefighters conducting joint training in the area.
– An officer responded to a 400 block North Broadway home at 6:47 p.m. Wednesday where the resident reported someone earlier in the week had entered his garage and removed his friend’s trailer which had several items on it. There were no signs of forced entry.
– Police responded to the 200 block of West Fourth Street at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday where a woman reported walking her dog in the area of West Second Street and North Howard Avenue when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle that fled the scene. First responders and an ambulance arrived, but the woman declined medical treatment. The officer did not observe any indications that she had been struck by the vehicle. The license plate of the vehicle showed a local address, but the officer was unable to locate it.
– An officer responded to a Morris Avenue home at 9:14 p.m. Wednesday where the resident reported her daughter had been receiving harassing messages on social media.
– Officers responded to a North Ellsworth Avenue bar for a reported fight in progress at 12:18 a.m. Thursday and spoke with a person who had visible injury to his head. The other person involved had left prior to officers’ arrival. The injured man said that the other man had started talking to a woman who had arrived with him, which caused the fight. Witnesses said the injured man was intoxicated and his friends had been trying to get him leave for approximately an hour. They also said he injury was caused when he fell into a door. The man declined medical treatment and had a taxi take him home.
– An officer responded to a Cleveland Street home at 6:23 a.m. Thursday where the resident reported people were constantly walking through his driveway and yard to get to an East State Street business and that two people had just walked through prior to his calling the police. He was advised to post no trespassing signs at the edge of his property.
– Police responded with the fire department and an ambulance to an East Third Street apartment at 6:30 a.m. Thursday for a medical assist in which the resident could not reach the door. The woman was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Perry Township
– Police responded to a private property crash in the 1700 block of Hearthside Drive at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday in which Kaitlyn Neiswonger, 19, attempted to back out of her driveway and struck a parked vehicle owned by Alan Shaffer, Salem. Both vehicles received damage and the individuals exchanged information.
– A West Pidgeon Road resident reported at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday that four tires on his trailer had been slashed while it was parked in his front yard within the past six to eight weeks.
– Police responded to Jennings Avenue just south of the bypass at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The woman said that she pulled into a driveway to turn around and the front tire got stuck in the ditch. There was no damage to the vehicle and it was towed from the ditch.
– Police responded to a Prospect Street apartment complex at 8:29 p.m. Wednesday in reference to four people who were looking for a man in order to cause bodily harm to him. Officers were unable to find them.
– Police responded to an Elberon Avenue home at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday where a neighbor reported the doors and trunk of the homeowner’s vehicle were open and that no one appeared to be awake at the home. Officers found numerous packages in the trunk, but were unable to contact anyone at the home. The officers closed the doors and trunk and left.
POLICE
County Sheriff
– Deborah Freudenberg, Virginia Avenue, New Waterford, reported at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday her front and rear vehicle plates were stolen while she was parked at the Rogers Feed Mill.
Columbiana
– A caller reported the traffic light at the intersection of state Routes 7 and 14 was not cycling properly at 12:16 p.m. Tuesday. An officer sat through several light changes and determined it was cycling properly.
– A caller reported someone driving a red Cobalt was tailgating people and slamming on his brakes while traveling east on state Route 14 at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
Perry Township
– Police responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street for a welfare check on a resident at 5:42 a.m. Wednesday after a woman said her mother called then the phone disconnected and when she attempted to call back, it went to voicemail. Officers made contact with the woman’s mother and she said she was having problems with her new phone.
– A resident called at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday to complain about noise in the 800 block of Cunningham Road. Officers located the source of the music and asked the owner of the residence to turn it down.
– Solicitors were reported going door to door in the 600 block of East Pine Lake Road at 1:14 p.m. Tuesday. Two males from Akron were stopped and advised there is no solicitation permitted in the township. They left without incident.
– A Prospect Street resident called at 9:54 a.m. Tuesday to report the theft of a tractor owned by another family member who resides outside of the area. The family member entered into an agreement to sell the tractor and the current buyer refuses to pay the balance due, the resident reported. The resident was told the matter was civil and for the family member to contact legal counsel.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 9:58 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Prospect Street where both parties told police there was an argument, but no physical violence occurred. Police attempted to get one party to leave for the night, but both said they were not leaving. They were told the consequences of domestic violence.
– A resident of Hunt Road reported at 12:17 p.m. Monday that a suspicious blue truck was parked near the water tower with no one around. The vehicle had been parked there for some time. Officers arrived and did not locate the vehicle in question. No vehicles matching the description were found in the area.
Salem
– A domestic in progress was reported at 11:11 a.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of North Howard Avenue where residents let a friend move in a month ago and they began arguing and physically fighting before police arrived. None of the people involved wanted medical treatment or charges filed. They just wanted the female to leave, so she gathered her belongings and left.
– A license plate found on West State Street was placed in the police lost and found at 10:49 a.m. Wednesday.
– A resident in the 900 block of East Sixth Street reported at 6:16 a.m. Wednesday that someone entered his car. Items from the glove box and center console were scattered on the seats. Nothing appeared to be stolen.
– An audible alarm was reported at 4:36 a.m. Wednesday at Murphy USA gas station in the 2800 block of East State Street. The business was checked and found secure.
– Police were called at 3:58 a.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Vine Avenue for a breaking and entering complaint. Upon arrival, officers found a person inside the common entrance area of the apartment building. He said he was attempting to visit a friend, but did not make contact. Officers contacted the resident who called and he said someone was pounding on the door and it sounded like someone was trying to enter his rear sliding glass door. He was told about the person officers found and said he was familiar with him but didn’t want him returning. Officers determined the person was a juvenile and noted a moderate odor of alcoholic beverage on him. He was taken into custody for being unruly and delinquent and during a search, officers located prescription medication on him that belonged to someone else. He was processed and released to a guardian. The case will be forwarded to the juvenile division.
– Marlin Catlos, 53, of 603 W. Pershing St., was charged with domestic violence and OVI after police were called to his home at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday. The victim had a severely swollen left eye, blood throughout her mouth and blood stains on her clothing. She said her live-in boyfriend punched her in the face over an argument about his drinking. He wasn’t there but police conducted a traffic stop at 1:32 a.m. at East State and Lundy on his vehicle, and was arrested.
– Police responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge at 11:23 p.m. Tuesday for a reported burglary. The residence was checked with the resident and nothing was reported missing.
– Police stood by at a Maple Street residence at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday while a sheriff’s deputy placed a person in custody for an incident in their jurisdiction.
– An intoxicated driver was reported at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday in the area of East State Street and Cunningham Road. The vehicle was located already parked at a residence and unoccupied.
– An officer on patrol at 6:58 p.m. Tuesday found a dog at large in the 1900 block of East Pershing Street. The animal was secured and returned to the owner.
– A woman in the 200 block of Vine Avenue reported at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday that cash was taken from her apartment within the past two days.
– Theodore Bullard, of East Euclid Street, reported at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday that his car was struck and damaged while parked in the lot at the northwest corner of Lincoln Avenue and Third Street.
– Matthew Ayers, 24, of 468 Columbia St., was taken into custody at 3:12 p.m. Tuesday on an active warrant out of Mahoning County. He was processed and turned over to a Mahoning County deputy at a predetermined meeting point.
St. Clair Township
– Rahul Sethi and Laura J. Wade contacted police Tuesday concerning threats made by a man known to them. They were advised on how to file charges and how to receive a protection order.
Wellsville
– Police were called at 5:50 a.m. Nov. 19 to a Washington Street house regarding a request to remove a person. Officers heard yelling coming from the residence and observed Kathryn Medeiros telling Dante Hutchins to get out of her house. Officers made contact with Hutchins, who was yelling at Medeiros, and then yelled obscenities toward the officers when advised to gather his belongings and leave. An officer advised Hutchins that he was under arrest, which at that point Hutchins pulled away from an officer and went into a back room, where the same officer grabbed him again. Hutchins pulled away again, in which another officer deployed a taser, striking Hutchins in the chest. Hutchins was then transported to the police station where Tri-County Ambulance removed the prong from Hutchins’ chest. He was then released and advised not to go back to the residence.

– Martha Boles, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported at 7:04 p.m. Monday a few vehicles have turned around in her driveway during the evening and she wanted deputies to check the area for suspicious vehicles. Deputies found nothing suspicious.
– New Waterford police reported at 2:24 p.m. Sunday there was a possibly stolen vehicle along Scotts Mill Road near state Route 154. Deputies found the vehicle parked along the roadway with no one in the vehicle. It belonged to Penny Taggart, New Waterford, who was notified to retrieve it. There were no charges filed on the person suspected of driving it there.
Highway Patrol
– Rick A. Styen, 33, state Route 558, New Waterford, was eastbound on Crestview Road in Fairfield Township at 7:26 p.m. Saturday and stopped at a traffic light at state Route 7 when Beverly A. Lunger, 77, Signal Road, Columbiana, was northbound on state Route 7 and went left of center onto Crestview Road and into Styen’s vehicle. Lunger was cited for lanes of travel.
Lisbon
– Denise Achberger, North Beaver Street, reported Nov. 18 her ATM card was used in Florida without her knowledge to order pizza on four different occasions – three times at Papa John’s and once at Domino’s. The total cost was $119.
– Police were called to Columbiana County Juvenile Court facility on Nov. 18 because a female student said a male student was talking about his plan to blow up the school and he knew what it took to assemble a bomb. Police located the boy at the county vocational school and he denied making any such statement or even knowing how to make a bomb. The boy said the girl asked him how to make a dry-ice bomb and he told her. The youth was told not talk about such things again or make threats.
– Police checked a basement on Maple Street at 1:11 a.m. Thursday after receiving a call from Paige Hensley, but they did not find anyone there.
– Police were called to the county mental health center at 8:29 a.m. Friday after a caseworker reported receiving a sexually explicit text message from one of her male clients. The client later texted her to say he sent it to her by accident. The caseworker responded by telling him he was being assigned a male caseworker. Police said they intend to contact the male.
– Dora Jarvis was driving on North Market Street near Morris Street when she struck a utility pole guide wire at 11 a.m. Friday. Jarvis said she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. Jarvis and her passenger, Jane Smith, were uninjured and there was no damage to the guide wire.
– Police arrived at the BP station at 5:27 p.m. Friday to assist EMTs in loading a person into an ambulance after he was treated with Narcan for a possible drug overdose. The person was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
– A caller reported seeing three youths in the area of Home Savings and one of them urinated on a light pole on West Lincoln Way at 4:41 p.m. Friday. The youths were gone by the time police arrived.
– Police were called to an apartment house on East Washington Street at 6 p.m. Friday in response to a possible domestic dispute involving an arguing couple. The officer spoke with the couple, who said they were arguing over a spilled bag of chips and drink.
– A caller reported there was a suspicious vehicle on Race Road at 10:53 p.m. Saturday. Police found two men, who said they were having vehicle troubles but had just got it running again.
– While on patrol at 11 p.m. Saturday, police noticed the main gate to the high school football stadium was open. Upon further investigation they found an open door to the main building but no one was located inside nor did anything look out of place.
– A window was found broken at the Cherished Children day care center at 1:09 p.m. Saturday.
– Scott Wolfe, North Market Street, reported at 4:49 p.m. Sunday receiving harassing text messages from his ex-girlfriend and her male friend, both of whom live at the homeless shelter on Maple Street. Police called the number and left a message for them to stop.
– A caller reported at 5:53 p.m. Sunday having trouble getting hold of East of Chicago Pizza because its phone kept ringing busy. When the person called back no one answered and became concerned, which is when the police department was notified. An officer went to East of Chicago and found the restaurant to be busy and operating normally.
Columbiana
– A 10-day junk vehicle notice was sent to Brian Styen of Lisbon on Monday for a vehicle on Fitzpatrick Street.
– A 10-day junk vehicle notice was sent to Johnna Sherrill of Columbiana on Monday for a vehicle on Lisbon Street.
– Police found a chain gate down along West Railroad Street at 2:36 a.m. Monday but found no problems. The gate was down due to neglect.
– Police checked on a contained fire at Col Pump at 4:59 a.m. Monday.
– A Quest Diagnostics employee reported at 7:45 a.m. Monday they could smell burnt rubber in the office. Police checked and found no fire or smoke inside the building.
– A woman reported at 11:30 a.m. Monday there was something in the road on state Route 14 near state Route 7 and vehicles were swerving to avoid it. Police checked but the item was already gone.
– Amber Tuttle, Camelot Drive, reported at 1:15 p.m. Monday the windshield of her vehicle was broken sometime during the night.
– A woman reported at 4:39 p.m. Monday there was a possible drunk driver eastbound on East Park Avenue and then onto state Route 14. Police checked but did not find the vehicle.
– A highway patrol trooper reported at 5:27 p.m. Monday there was a truck and trailer at East Park and James streets that had lost its load of hay onto the road. The bales were off the road when police arrived.
– A Union Street resident requested assistance with contacting their son in Juneau, Alaska. Police were able to make contact with the man and they were able to get them in touch with one another.
St. Clair Township
– Officers were dispatched to the emergency room at East Liverpool City Hospital Sunday for an injured 1-year-old child. Information was gathered for further investigation.
– A manager at KFC in Calcutta reported receiving a counterfeit $20 bill in payment for food from a person who has been identified. The bill was turned over to the Secret Service for further investigation.
– An employee at Endless Tan, St. Clair Avenue, reported coming to work Saturday and finding a rear outside door cracked open and the cash register missing. The incident is under investigation.
– Katrina Rodgers, Dray Lane, reported returning home Saturday to find the front window removed and three dresser drawers removed, with two rings missing. Officers reported it appeared the window had been blown open by high winds and other jewelry, firearms and valuables had not been touched.
Salem
– Police were called at 1:13 p.m. Tuesday to outside Giant Eagle, 2401 E. State St., for a complaint of loitering. Officers located a male and a female with a dog on the sidewalk near the east side entrance/exit doors. They were advised of the complaint and denied asking for money. They were told they were not wanted there, especially sitting holding a dog. They picked up their belongings and moved on.
– A red vehicle was reported parked on the sidewalk in the 600 block of East Pershing Street at 11:06 a.m. Tuesday, but no vehicle was found.
– A dog at large was reported at 6:06 a.m. Tuesday on the corner of North Ellsworth Avenue at Seventh Street where a dog had gotten tangled in its leash and was stuck in the middle of the road. Officers were able to untangle the leash and contact the owner via dog tags. The owner picked up the dog and was given a verbal warning for dog at large.
– A domestic dispute in progress was reported at 10:50 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue. Police learned it was a dispute between husband and wife over custody of their children. Both were told their options. The female said she was pushed during the incident and gave a written statement.
– Geoffrey Johnson, 29, of Vine Street, was cited for a turn signal violation and plate light violation and was given a noted warning for failing to comply with an officer’s request for documents after a traffic stop at 10:44 p.m. Monday. The report said the stop was initiated over an equipment violation and moving violation on East State Street. The driver initially refused the officer’s request to identify himself, but when given a final opportunity to identify himself before being arrested, he complied.
– A suspicious person was reported on the roof of a business at 2362 E. State St. at 9:24 p.m. Monday. The fire department responded and officers checked the roof of the building, locating nothing suspicious.
– Tessie Molnar, 42, of North Jackson, was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for possible injuries after a one-vehicle accident at 3:27 p.m. Monday at Union Avenue and State Street. The report said the driver told police she lost her brakes and left the road so not to hit any other vehicles. No citation was issued.
East Liverpool
– While northbound on St. Clair Avenue Monday, Adrianna L. Kennedy, 24, Lincoln Avenue, reportedly lost control of her vehicle when it blew a right front tire. The vehicle struck a telephone pole, causing a street light to break and the pole to lean. She was cited for failure to control.
East Palestine
– Nancy Melott, East Clark Street, reported at 10 p.m. Saturday her 14-year-old son took her car without her permission. The matter was referred to juvenile court.

County Sheriff
– Cynthia Masters, Buck Road, Beloit, requested her 17-year-old son’s girlfriend, who has been staying there off and on, be removed from the house due to personal issues at 5:46 a.m. Monday. Ashley Davidson, 18, left the home willingly with her bags packed.
– Janet Everhart, Sunrise Drive, Lisbon, reported barking dogs at 4:35 a.m. Friday. Deputies went to an Orchard Knoll address where the dogs were barking, but there was no owners there to talk to because the house had burned down. The dogs had shelter and appeared healthy. The dog warden was notified.
Lisbon
– Albert Mason reported at 1:45 p.m. Thursday he could not get into his rented garage on Jerome Street because the home’s tenants park their van in the driveway. Police spoke with the van owner, who said she told Mason she would move it.
– A former highway patrol trooper reported coming across a possible drunk driver coming into town west on U.S. Route 30 at 3 p.m. Thursday. An officer stopped the motorist on state Route 154, who said he was tired because he drives 90 minutes to and from work each day. He did not appear drunk, nor was there any odor of alcohol detected.
– A Mr. Greathouse showed up at the police department at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, saying he had been kicked out of the homeless shelter on Maple Street but needed to collect his belongings. Shelter officials said Greathouse was kicked out for not following the rules but he could get his belongings.
Columbiana
– Heather Warner, South Main, reported at 1:17 a.m. Sunday she was involved in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend and he had a gun. Warner was arrested for domestic violence and the matter remains under investigation.
– Matthew Petrosky reported at 1:42 p.m. Sunday someone backed into his vehicle in the Circle K parking lot and caused damage.
– A man reported at 7:58 p.m. Saturday a black Ford Escape in the Columbiana Ford dealership parking lot had its windows open.
– Chalsa Ervin, Pueblo Lane, requested police walk through the home for a safety check at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
East Liverpool
– Officers responded to an accident at the Newell Bridge Saturday afternoon and found a vehicle driven by Jennifer A. Dithomas, 45, New Castle, Pa., had struck the rear of another whose driver had stopped to pay the toll. That driver was not identified in reports. While speaking with Dithomas, officers reported she had slurred speech, was having trouble standing and was laughing for no reason. She reportedly said she was coming from the race track and had had two beers. She was cited for OVI and assured clear distance.
– Terry M. Campbell, 40, Annesley Road, stopped at the Route 11 off ramp, southbound when Connor J. Hall, 18, South Park Circle, reportedly hit the rear of his vehicle. Campbell was able to write down the license plate number on the other vehicle, and Hall came to the police station after his father, Jeffrey Hall, Strader Road, was contacted as the registered owner of the vehicle. No citations were reported.
Salem
– A woman reported at 11:55 a.m. Monday receiving a phone call from a person posing as an Ohio Edison worker saying they needed to make payments or they were going to be shut off. She called the number on the bill and learned it was a scam.
– Robert Donaldson, 46, of Carey Road, was cited for failure to yield after exiting a bank parking lot on East Pershing Street and colliding with an eastbound vehicle driven by Amy Davner, 35, of U.S. Route 62, at 11:01 a.m. Monday.
– A woman on East Third Street reported at 8:31 a.m. Monday that she’s receiving phone calls with no one talking, only breathing, along with someone knocking on her door. No one is there where she looks.
– A resident in the 900 block of East Third Street reported a possible hit/skip at 8:04 a.m. Monday, noting damage to a vehicle found in the morning. A male had stopped for a visit previously and was going to be contacted by the resident.
– A dispute was reported at 10:48 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Franklin Avenue. Officers found nothing criminal occurred between the intoxicated people. A cab was contacted for one of them.
– Tracy Delphia, of the 900 block of Franklin Avenue, reported at 9:47 p.m. Sunday that firewood was stolen from the yard. No suspects were located.
– Larry Hensley, of the 900 block of Liberty Street, reported at 9:21 p.m. Sunday that the rear tire was slashed and the transmission line cut on his vehicle earlier in the week. He believed a female recently evicted from his residence may have been responsible. The case is under investigation. An officer attempted but was unable to reach the ex-roommate.
– An intoxicated driver was alleged at 8:12 p.m. Sunday in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and the city limits. The vehicle was stopped and police found the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages but did not give enough clues for impairment to warrant an arrest. He voluntarily said he would get a ride rather than drive.
– Morrison Poe, 81, of Canfield, was cited for failure to yield after the vehicle he was driving collided with a vehicle driven by William Spanbauer, 53, of Monroe Street, in the intersection of West Pershing Street and South Howard Avenue at 6:58 p.m. Sunday.
– Police responded to New Garden Avenue at 5:36 p.m. Sunday for an open burning call. The fire department was on the scene where leaves were being burned. The open burning laws were explained and firefighters told the person what could and could not be burned.
– Police responded at 5:27 p.m. Sunday to the 300 block of North Broadway. A man had been walking through the area when the caller, who lives nearby, confronted him about being near his home and harassing him. Words were exchanged. The caller said the other person struck him with a partially filled beverage can. The other person admitted throwing the can but denied striking him. The caller only wanted the other person to stay away from his residence.
– A debit card was found at 5 p.m. Sunday on East State Street near Hawley Avenue and placed in lost and found.
Perry Township
– Police were called at 1:58 p.m. Sunday to the area of Indiana Boulevard near Wisconsin Boulevard for a suspicious male, but nobody was found.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported sitting in a yard across the street from an Allen Drive residence at 1:02 a.m. Sunday. Police spoke with the owner of the property and found that a friend had gotten stuck in his yard and he had just pulled them out and they were talking.
– Robert Campbell, Alliance, hit a deer on South Lincoln near the bypass at 8:29 p.m. Friday. Annie Hawk, Salem, hit a deer at 11:02 p.m. Friday on U.S. 62 west of North Lincoln.
Lisbon
– Firefighters responded to a garage fire on property of Roy Larkins, Steubenville Pike, at 11:18 a.m. Monday. It was in a wood-burning stove and confined to the area between the wall and the chimney, causing less than $500 in damage.
– The fire alarm went off at the county jail at 6:58 p.m. Sunday but the call was canceled after it was determined that it was set off by someone breaking a sprinkler head.

County Sheriff
– The manager of the Guilford Grille, Eastlake Road, Guilford Lake, called about a fight at 12:23 a.m. Sunday. The parties involved left before deputies arrived.
– Nicholas Woods, state Route 39, Wellsville, reported someone was knocking on doors at 12:16 a.m. Sunday and a truck was possibly broken down along the road. A deputy checked the area but did not see anyone about.
– Terry Hoffman, state Route 14, Unity Township, reported Saturday receiving harassing text messages from Lynette Carosilella. A deputy advised Carosilella to quit texting Hoffman and also told him to not text her.
– Helen Willis, state Route 172, East Rochester, discovered there were three checks totaling $2,096 written on her account without her knowledge. The person doing this was someone in Westerville.
– Michael Lutz, Lewis Road, Franklin Township, reported someone dumped trash on Willard Road, and the paperwork found in the refuse came back to someone he knew. Lutz said he contacted the person, and the trash will be removed.
– Cindy Lyon, state Route 7, Middleton Township, reported Sunday someone has been dumping tires, beer cans and other refuse on her property. She noticed that morning someone had driven onto her property, striking one of her pine trees.
– Marje Hutchko, Hoffmeister Road, Petersburg, discovered $600, a diamond wedding ring and bank checks missing from her bedroom dresser following an auction at her residence.
Highway Patrol
– The Columbiana woman responsible for causing a head-on traffic accident on Nov. 16 has been cited for driving left of center. At fault was Jennifer N. Russell, 33, of Court Street, who reportedly went left of center in her Chevy Traverse, striking a Kia Sportage driven by Audrey Wylie and containing three children she was bringing home from school. The accident occurred on state Route 344 in Fairfield Township at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 16. Wylie, 31, South Middle Street, Columbiana, and the children were taken by ambulance to local hospitals with unknown injuries. Witnesses said Russell was driving all over the road prior to the crash, with one person taking a cellphone video of her as he followed along. Russell said she fell asleep while on her phone, but the trooper said she smelled of alcohol and was unable to maintain her balance. The crash remains under investigation.
– Shonda K. Sheppard, 38, Melody Road, Kensington, and Fred O. May, 71, Nittany Drive, Summitville, both struck the same deer while driving in opposite directions on state Route 644 in Franklin Township at 5:20 p.m. Thursday. May was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
– Jenna M. Jackson, 19, state Route 164, Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield the right of way after she struck a vehicle driven by Taylor D. Jarrett, 16, Steubenville Pike, Lisbon, while turning into a private driveway on Route 164 in Wayne Township at 3:45 p.m. Friday.
– Christopher Butner-Lucas, 16, Lynchburg Road, Kensington, was cited for failure to control after he went off the road in a van and overcorrected before going off the other side of the road and overturning. This occurred while he was driving on Lynchurg Road at 7:55 p.m. Friday. Butner-Lucas said he swerved to miss a deer but there was no evidence to support the claim, which is why he was cited, the patrol said.
– Joseph J. Sopkovich III, 45, of Struthers, struck a deer while driving on state Route 11 in Madison Township at 3 a.m. Saturday.
– Troy D. Rhodes, 47, Lisbon Street, Columbiana, was cited for failure to yield the right of way after he struck a vehicle driven by Evelyn D. Hochmann, 79, Lisbon Road, Leetonia, at the intersection of Adams and Lisbon roads in Center Township at 9:55 a.m. Sunday.
– Steven J. Burbick, 58, Springfield Road, Columbiana, reported he was riding his bicycle on Crestview Road in Fairfield Township at 7 a.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a passing motorist, who did not not stop. Burbick was treated at the scene for minor scrapes and given a ride home by a nearby resident. A broken mirror from the vehicle was determined to have come from a 2001 or 2002 Chrysler Sebring or Dodge Stratus.
– Jacob D. Densmore, 18, St. Clair Avenue, East Liverpool, was cited for assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of stopped vehicle driven by Marc C. Ferello, 38, Echo Valley Road, Wellsville, on state Route 7 in Middleton Township at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Salem
– At 3:44 p.m. Friday, police responded to the South Broadway and Franklin Street intersection for a two-vehicle accident where the vehicle operated by Dorothy Geho was westbound on Franklin Street at the intersection and the vehicle operated by Frank G. Stump, 477 S. Sawburg Avenue, Alliance, southbound on South Broadway and stopped. Both entered the intersection from stop signs and collided and both vehicle were towed away.
– At 8:50 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of Howard Avenue for a report of people leaving their trash in the dumpster. An officer contacted a woman who left her trash and advised her to pick it up or face charges and she picked it up.
– At 10:21 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 500 block of Walnut Avenue where the complainant advised a downstairs tenant was looking into the complainant’s mailbox to see what mail he was getting. The complainant also felt they were listening to him upstairs and telling others what he was doing. An officer advised him a report will be made.
– At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of North Broadway for a person to be removed who was gone on arrival. The complainant advised he may reside a few houses north of his. Police spoke to a resident who did not fit the description but advised the person if he or anyone from the residence returned to the complainant’s they may face charges.
– At 1:07 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue where there was an unresponsive man in the parking lot. A Salem doctor who was in the area administered CPR and the fire department and ambulance arrived. The man was transported to the hospital.
– At 2:55 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the Cunningham Road and East State intersection for a report of people jumping in front of cars and asking for money. A man was advised of the no soliciting law in the city and left without incident.
– Police in the 200 block of South Union Avenue at 1:05 a.m. Sunday stopped a vehicle for a registration violation and a passenger had an outstanding warrant from Columbiana County. Kendra S. Chestnut, 191 S. Union Avenue, was taken into custody for failure to appear and transported to the county jail by the sheriff’s office.
– At 1:20 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 200 block of South Broadway where the complainant advised that around 3 p.m. Saturday a man who used to rent her current residence was found inside hiding upstairs. The complainant advised that at 3 a.m. the same person came in the back door and exited when he saw her. He still has a key and the complainant did not want him back. Information was obtained and an officer attempted to contact the suspect in the 300 block of South Broadway with no contact.
– At 1:32 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 900 block of Prospect Street where the complainant advised he wanted to get property from the residence he used to live at. He was advised police do not do civil stand by calls without a court order. While there, the complainant’s ex-roommate did allow him to gather some small personal items.
– At 2:24 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1800 block of East State Street after being flagged by the manager regarding a man in the drive-thru who appeared to be intoxicated and attempted to buy food with cigarettes. Brock T. Horstman, 30416 Carey Road, Salem, was charged with OVI and taken to the county jail.
– At 5:35 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2400 block of East State Street for a person down and were unable to locate the person after searching the area with firefighters.
– Police responded to the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue at 6:54 p.m. Saturday for a report of juveniles in the road and were unable to locate them.
– Police responded to the 200 block of W. State Street at 7:35 p.m. Saturday for a theft complaint and while investigating learned the complainant had an outstanding warrant out of the area. The complainant was upset and refused to cooperate any further with the investigation.
– Police responded to the W. Eighth Street and Jennings Avenue intersection at 9:30 p.m. Saturday for a line down and notified Ohio Edison.
– At 10:04 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1100 block of Cedar Ridge Drive for a medical call. A person could be seen inside who wasn’t responding. Police and firefighters made a forced entry and the person was transported to the hospital.
– At 11:01 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street where the complainant advised that claims were being made against her husband and wanted a report to document it.
POLICE
County Sheriff
-Lindsey Rose, Hanselman Road, Homeworth, reported tools and hunting weapons and gear were stolen from the family’s garage/shop sometime Wednesday night. Rose said her husband heard noises at 1:30 a.m. and saw the motion sensor light had been activated but did not see anything else and went back to bed.
-Susie Hawkins reported Friday she has a rental property at 4421 Hawkins Road, New Waterford, and the tenants left it in poor condition. Hawkins was told this was a civil matter.
– April Rawson, Fink Road, Kensington, reported Friday she ordered two iPods online from Wal-Mart but only one was delivered. Rawson contacted Wal-Mart and its records show both boxes were delivered, but Federal Express officials said its record showed there was only supposed to be one box.
– Mark Hilton, Winona Road, Butler Township, reported sometime Wednesday night his unlocked Jeep Grand Cherokee was entered, and a crossbow and some change were stolen.
Highway Patrol
-Randall L. Sprouse, 55, Desellem Road, Lisbon, was cited for failure to stop an assured cleared distance after he drove his pickup truck into the rear of a car operated by Mary L. Ludt, 49, state Route 518, Lisbon, as she slowed down on state Route 45 in Center Township at 3:16 p.m. Friday. Ludt was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
– Pete A. Richman, 28, of Wileyville, W.Va., was cited for failure to stop an assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of a farm tractor pulling a hay rake on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 5:31 p.m. Thursday.
Driving the tractor was Jeff A. Baker, 53, state Route 172, East Rochester. There were no injuries.
– Todd F. Korda, 33, Lincoln Way, Lisbon, was cited for failure to control after he swerved to miss a deer in his car and went off the road into an embankment while driving on state Route 45 in Salem Township at 6:05 a.m. Nov. 15.
Columbiana
-Police were called to Edgewood Drive at 12:14 p.m. Friday to stand by while an ambulance was summoned for a medical situation.
– A Save-A-Lot employee reported there was a man in the parking lot pacing back and forth while talking on the phone and “creeping out the customers” at 3:18 p.m. Friday. The man was gone by the time police arrived.
– David S. Stambaugh, 61, Meadow Place, was driving on Springfield Road at noon Friday when he suffered a medical emergency and lost consciousness, traveling off the road and striking a utility pole. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his medical emergency.
Lisbon
– Joseph Curran, Strader Road, East Liverpool, reportedly backed into a parked vehicle belonging to Robert W. Hughes, Fairway Road, East Liverpool, in the Vista Center parking lot at 6:13 p.m. Monday.
-Robert J. Crespo, 28, East Washington Street, was charged with domestic violence on Thursday after he reportedly showed up at the North Beaver Street apartment of Dawnitta Wright and started tearing up the place. He then reportedly threw Wright into the door and the kitchen table and grabbed her by the neck and began choking her. Wright said she fell to the ground, and Crespo kneed her in the face and began kicking her. Crespo denied the accusations and denied being at her apartment that morning.
Salem
– Police responded to the 2300 block of West State Street at 8:23 p.m. Friday where the complainant advised that while a co-worker had his back to the counter an unknown man stole $40 in lottery tickets. Statements were taken, and the security video will be checked. The matter is under investigation.
– At 5:44 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 900 block of Jennings Avenue where a man was bitten by his dog, and he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
– At 10:19 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street where the complainant advised that two bottles of medication were taken and believed a healthcare worker did it and claimed the worker called his doctor saying he was selling pills and now the doctor stopped seeing him. He was given a report number for his records.

County Sheriff
– Candace Vence, Winona Road, Salem, reported at 10:09 a.m. Thursday both her Ford Escape and her daughter’s Mazda Tribute were entered overnight. Someone took Vence’s Visa card and about $10. The contents of her daughter’s wallet were scattered across the driveway.
– Shelly Guthrie, daughter of Ruth Guthrie, Winona Road, Salem, reported at 9:38 a.m. Thursday overnight someone entered her mother’s vehicle and ransacked it, but nothing appeared to be missing. Someone also ransacked the garage.
-Brandy Cope, Forest Street, Lisbon, reported some of her friends were going to an address on state Route 45 to get her car and belongings, but her family is giving her trouble about it. Cope said she believes she may have gotten most of her things and it was determined the vehicle does not belong to Cope. The registered owner will have to come take the car.
Highway Patrol
– Kayla Marie Ours, 23, Purinton Avenue, East Liverpool, and Alvin M. Donaldson, 59, Y&O Road, Wellsville, were both northbound on U.S. Route 30 in Elkrun Township at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 13. Ours was slowing to make a left turn, when she was reportedly struck from behind by Donaldson. He was cited with assured clear distance. No injuries were reported.
Salem
– Someone reported concerns about a driver entering the city westbound on state Route 14 at 2:10 p.m. Thursday. Police saw no violations, but pulled the vehicle over to check on the driver. She admitted to being preoccupied after leaving her doctor’s office.
– A large vehicle, possibly a semi truck reportedly made a right turn from Prospect Street onto Sharp Avenue at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, striking a stop sign and a utility pole on the northeast corner. The pole was damaged and sign knocked down. The street department and Ohio Edison were notified of the damage.
– A plant foreman at 1475 Salem Parkway requested that an irate employee be removed from the business at 2:09 p.m. Thursday. She wanted him to leave for the day. Police spoke to the employee in his car, who said he believed he was being treated unfairly regarding overtime and wanted to speak with the supervisor before he left. Police suggested he call the supervisor, who was out of the building for the next 90 minutes. The employee left.
– Police, first responders and KLG ambulance went to an Olive Street home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday where a woman reported her husband was having medical problems and needed assistance. He was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– A delivery truck stuck cross-ways in the roadway was reported at 2:08 p.m. Thursday. Police found the rear bumper was stuck attempting to pull from the driveway exit at 239 W. State St., and another truck was called to pull it off.
– A suspicious vehicle was found at 1:02 a.m. Friday with its headlights on in the parking lot at 776 N. Ellsworth Ave., which was closed. The vehicle was found to be secure with no one inside. The owner was found at a home in the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue and he was alerted the vehicle should be moved into the home’s driveway.
– Two suspicious vehicles were reported in the parking lot at Sparkle at 11:52 p.m. Thursday, where four men reportedly got out and walked toward Columbia Street. Police did not find the vehicles or anyone walking in the area.
– Two men were walking out of an alley in the 100 block of South Broadway at 12:28 a.m. Friday. Police found they were both intoxicated, warned them and made sure they made it home safely.
– Maribel Y. Dailey, South Broadway, reported a possible breaking and entering at 7:56 p.m. Thursday. Police checked the area and the home, but found no problems.
– While on patrol, police found a vehicle, whose registered driver, Randall R. Hetrick, has a suspended license at 7:23 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle was towed. The driver ran on foot. Charges for driving under suspension may be pending.
– Sarah L. Davis, an employee at Dollar General downtown reported at 3:54 p.m. Thursday a man took several items from the store without paying. The surveillance tapes are being reviewed and the matter is under investigation.
Columbiana
– A brush fire on Redpath Drive reportedly flared up again at 2:26 a.m. Thursday after it had been put out earlier.
– Sandra Belosic, South Bayshore Drive, reported at 11:26 a.m. Thursday she has had jewelry stolen.
– A child at the Columbiana Schools alerted police to a case of telephone harassment at 2:01 p.m. Thursday.
Center Township
– Police responded to the Columbiana County Career Center for an unruly juvenile Thursday. After speaking with the prosecutor, the juvenile was transported to the Tobin Center.
East Liverpool
– Officers were advised by Amira Bell, Erie Street, that Rameon J. Sumlin, 25, came home and there was nothing to eat, that her children had no food or diapers, and she questioned him. Sumlin reportedly became angry, accusing Bell of texting another man, choking and hitting her before throwing her against the wall. He left prior to officers’ arrival. Sumlin was charged with domestic violence.
Salineville
– Police were called at 3 p.m. Nov. 13 to an East Main Street residence regarding a dispute over a chainsaw. Officers spoke to both parties, who came to an agreement and made sure the owner was in possession of the chainsaw.
– An East Main Street resident reported at 6:40 p.m. Sunday that someone stole $50 and some cigarettes from the resident the night before. Officers were unable to determine who was responsible for the theft.
– Police were called at 7:40 p.m. Sunday to an East Main Street residence regarding a couch that was set on fire. Officers spoke to the resident, who said he was burning trash. Fire crews arrived and put out the small fire while officers watched.
– Police were called at 2 p.m. Monday to a Mill Street residence after a man was reported to have difficulty standing, walking, talking and was in physical pain. An EMT transported him to the hospital. Around 11:55 p.m. that day, officers returned to the house after the man’s girlfriend said he wanted to go downtown and get some beer. She didn’t want him to leave the house due to his deteriorating health. Officers advised the man to remain at home considering he had been discharged from the hospital earlier in the day. No signs of domestic violence were observed.
– While on patrol at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, police pulled over Terrance G. Hobbs for driving with no lights on after dark. The officer was informed through dispatch that Hobbs was suspended. Hobbs was cited for driving under suspension and was given a verbal warning for no head lights. A valid driver picked up Hobbs and the vehicle.
– Police were called at 1 p.m. Thursday to a Water Street residence regarding a domestic dispute. Officers took Joshua Crooms into custody for domestic violence against his mother and sister. Charges are pending.
– A Water Street resident reported at 5 p.m. Thursday that prescription medications were taken from her purse at her home. The woman’s son is suspected to have taken them for personal use.
Wellsville
– Police were called at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 to the Dairy Queen regarding a minor accident. Officers found the vehicles of Lance Wargo and Margaret Householder hit each other. Because the accident happened on private property, both parties were advised to exchange information and contact their respective insurance companies.
– Police were called at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at a Main Street residence at the request of Lifeteam EMS regarding an intoxicated female, and stated that they were informed that she would be a problem. Officers found Roxanne Westerman highly intoxicated sitting on the couch. Her estranged husband, Dean Westerman, said she arrived drunk, and he did not want her there. An EMS crew arrived and Mrs. Westerman was helped down to the ambulance. As EMS crews tended to Mrs. Westerman, officers reportedly found a small amount of marijuana in plain view on the fireplace mantle. The marijuana was seized and charges are pending.
– Carl Blazer, 15th Street, reported at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday that someone entered his garage and removed a Craftsman 2500 psi pressure washer, valued at $300. Blazer said the theft occurred sometime between Nov. 13 and Nov. 15.
– Police were called at 3:20 a.m. Thursday to a Washington Street house, where Kathryn E. Medeiros requested Dante Hutchins, Beaver Avenue, Midland, Pa., to leave the premises. Upon arrival, officers observed Medeiros yelling at Hutchins to leave, while Hutchins reportedly cursed at officers as they asked him to gathering his belongings and leave and also attempted to fight one officer. After another officer advised Hutchins he was under arrest, Hutchins pushed off and ran into the other room, again cursing at the officers. One officer grabbed Hutchins while another deployed a taser, striking Hutchins in the abdomen and chest area. Hutchins was transported to the police station and was placed in a holding cell. Paramedics from Tri County Ambulance arrived to remove the one probe in Hutchins’ abdomen and said he was fine. He is scheduled to appear in Wellsville Magistrate Court Dec. 3.

Lisbon
– Nila J. Pelley, 58, Darner Road, Lisbon, was southbound on North Market Street at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday and Sue A. Simballa, 63, Desellem Road, Lisbon, was westbound on Pine Street and pulled from a stop sign into Pelley’s vehicle. Simballa was cited for right of way.
– A Save-A-Lot employee reported at 1:39 p.m. Monday a vehicle had been parked in the parking lot for about three weeks and it appeared to have been wrecked. Police found the vehicle was registered to Ivy Miller on East Chestnut Street and attempted to make contact with her, but spoke with her brother. The man said he would let his sister know the vehicle needed to be moved.
– A woman reported at 1:31 p.m. Monday she saw a woman hit a young child on the head in the Valley View II parking lot. Police spoke to a woman who said that she was waiting on a ride back to Salem and was waiting on an employee from Valley View to take her and that during that time her 10-month-old son was getting irritated. Police checked the boy over and found no injuries and he was not upset.
Columbiana
– Police stood by for a child custody exchange at the Columbiana Manor apartments at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday. There were no problems.
– Police checked on a report of someone in a white pickup truck stealing cans from the recycling bins at 11:11 a.m. Wednesday, but could not find the vehicle.
– Darrell Jackson, Beechwood Drive, reported at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday an elderly woman was sitting in his car and she doesn’t know who she is or where she is. Police found the woman was suffering from Alzheimer’s and were able to return her to her husband at their home.
– An AT&T employee in the Oakmont Plaza reported at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday a woman was soliciting them and other customers in the area for children’s hospital and other charities. Police checked but did not find the woman.
– A man reported at 1:46 p.m. Wednesday an A&M Lawncare truck was eastbound on state Route 14 without a tarp and was blowing leaves all along the road. Police stopped the vehicle and warned the driver for having an unsecured load.
– Adrienne Parish, South Middle Street, reported at 3:34 p.m. Wednesday her daughter’s bicycle was stolen.
– Police received multiple calls of a brush fire surrounding two trees on the east side of Redpath Drive near McMaster’s Farm.
– Brady White, 19, Salem, was traveling through a parking lot on Route 14 when he struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Hazel Minich, 17, Salem, who was parked. No citations were issued.
Salem
– A complainant was on station at 1:33 p.m. Thursday advising he let some friends stay overnight and in the morning some medication was missing. He texted the people and they denied it but continued texting him with harassing messages and he asked them to stop. An office will attempt to contact them and the missing medication is under investigation.
– At 7:49 p.m. Wednesday police responded to the 600 block of West Wilson Street where the vehicle operated by David A. Augustine, 647 W. Wilson St., had a steering malfunction and ran off the left side of the road striking a utility pole. The front airbags deployed and the driver had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Ohio Edison was advised about the pole.
– At 9:24 p.m. Wednesday police responded to North Lundy Avenue and East 3rd Street where a man had a substantial abrasions and contusions to his head and the EMT said he could not refuse transport to the hospital. A friend said he had been unconscious for two or three minutes before police arrived. The injured man resisted EMTs getting him into the ambulance and fled. The responding officer caught him approximately 100 yards away and damaged his radio. The victim and his friend gave conflicting statements and police were unable to determine the cause of the man’s injuries. He had been told several times to stop when he fled and charges are pending.
– At 6:38 p.m. Wednesday, a mother was on station regarding her juvenile son being assaulted by another juvenile while walking home from a school program at 6:15 p.m. Statements were taken.
Perry Township
– A complainant was on station at 9:04 a.m. Thursday advising her juvenile son had received threats from another juvenile who lives in Columbus, Ohio via text messaging.
– Police responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 9:51 a.m. Thursday for a possible domestic and learned woman had been advised of a family member dying and was upset.
– While on patrol at 12:21 p.m. Wednesday on Water Street, police saw Amber G. Jones, lka 10116 Steubenville Pike, Lisbon, and knew there was a warrant for her from Columbiana County for failure to appear. She was turned over to a deputyl.
– Police were requested to assist Salem police at 4:23 a.m. Wednesday for a loud person and stood by in the 100 block of Rose Avenue while they handled the call.
– Police responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 10:27 p.m.Tuesday and the complainant advised their home nurse had recently been let go took property belonging to the complainant and won’t return it.Police were unable to contact the person and the incident is under investigation.
– Police responded to a domestic report at 11:15 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of Benton Road where both people had been drinking all night and started arguing. The man said he would leave for the night.
Goshen Police District
– Emily Taylor Cutshall, 20, Canton, was cited for right of way when turning left following a two-vehicle crash on state Route 14 at Middletown Road at 1:19 p.m. Wednesday in which she was westbound and failed to yield to a southbound vehicle driven by Bryan C. Hess, 42, Alliance. No injuries were reported.
East Liverpool
– While on patrol Thursday morning, Patrolman Rob Smith observed Thomas C. Wells, 50, Eighth Street, driving from the lot at Woodland Hills and was aware he had no driver’s license, which the officer confirmed. A traffic stop was initiated on Eutaw Avenue, during which Smith reported seeing passenger Britany M. Eddy, 28, Above Connie’s Place, Chester, W.Va., bent low at the waist, as though placing something underneath the driver’s seat. Wells reportedly admitted to the officer having no license, and St. Clair Township’s K-9 team of Patrolman Chris Davis and canine officer Axel were called to the scene, where the canine sniffed the vehicle prior to the four occupants getting out of it. A shoestring, which officers reported is commonly used to “construct limbs to cause veins to bulge” was found in the rear door pocket, and a burned spoon was found under the driver’s seat. In Eddy’s purse was reportedly found an empty pinch-off section of a baggy, and a small piece of paper folded many times was recovered from the back seat. When Wells exited the vehicle, he dropped an eyeglass case which he kicked underneath the vehicle. The case contained a burned spoon, Q-tips, a lighter and two syringes. Wells, Eddy and two other passengers, Tavelle Steele, 25, and Davante Jackson, 25, both of Cleveland, were served trespass notices for Columbiana-Metropolitan Housing Agency property. Eddy and Wells were both charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and Wells was cited for driving without a license.
– Responding to a call on Broadway, officers found Angela Walsh, no age or address listed, in a vehicle, crying and with a bloody mouth. She told them the incident began at a bar in West Virginia and her boyfriend, Michael William R. Hall, 35, Fourth Avenue, LaCroft wanted to get some dope but she just wanted to go home and refused to get out of the car. Walsh said Hall punched her in the face twice then drove to East Liverpool where he punched her several more times. He pulled into the Broadway location and reportedly knocked both driver’s side windows out of the vehicle and fled on foot when Walsh said she was calling police. Walsh was transported to the hospital and Hall was charged with domestic violence.
– Diana L. Blystone, no address listed, reported extensive vandalism done to her mini-van while it was parked outside her son’s Vine Street residence.
– Thomas E. Dennis, Saint George Street, reported someone broke into his home while he was away and took a television, 40 Playstation games and medication, also ransacking the house.
– Steven C. Erwin, Chester Avenue, reported his wife’s vehicle entered and a 9-mm handgun stolen from the glove compartment.
– Tony Deltonder, Harvey Avenue, reported receiving numerous annoyance and hangup calls.
St. Clair Township
– Pattie Covert, Moore Road, reported receiving multiple calls and texts from her estranged husband and wanted a report on file.
– Ruth J. Brown, Summerset Drive, called to have Jessica Tremain removed from her property, saying she was causing problems. Police arrived to find Tremain sitting in a vehicle in the middle of the roadway, and she said she had not driven it there because she has no license. Tremain reportedly told police the vehicle’s owner, Kip Bailey, drove the car there and left it, walking home and telling her he would walk back to retrieve her and the vehicle when she was ready to leave. Tremain was told she would be charged with criminal trespass if she returned to the property, having been advised numerous times not to be at the residence. The vehicle was towed, and Bailey contacted police later to find out why, saying he had, in fact, driven it to the Summerset address. Police said he gave a different location than where the vehicle was located, and told him the consequences of lying and filing false police reports, prompting Bailey to say he had not taken the car to Brown’s residence and had no idea that Tremain had. He was advised the procedure for retrieving his vehicle from the tow company.

– Denise Moore, Y and O Road, Wellsville, reported at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday two long guns were taken from a friend’s house where she had stored them.
– A vehicle fire was reported by the Leetonia Fire Department at 8:12 p.m. Tuesday on Lisbon Canfield Road. The vehicle was found to have belonged to Diana Good of Lisbon, who told deputies it had not been running well and it had been left on a street in Salem for a couple days. Good was told to notify Salem police about her vehicle being stolen.
– Gary Coppersmith, Kelly Park Road, Columbiana, reported at 6:52 a.m. Wednesday sometime overnight someone broke into his three vehicles. Two of the vehicles were ransacked, but the only thing found missing was his wife’s wedding ring.
– Kristen Miller, Park Avenue, East Palestine, reported at 6:31 p.m.Tuesday her husband, Rogerlee Miller, was upset after she told him she wanted a divorce, grabbed the steering wheel and made her pull into the lot of the Vittle Village in Unity. He then got out, smashed her windshield, broke off both mirrors and windshield wipers. He had a friend pick him up.
Highway Patrol
– Eric J. McElroy, 53, Chain School Road, East Palestine, was southeastbound on Rauch Road in Unity Township at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and hit a deer.
– Carrie R. Cook, 45, Hunter Camp Road, Lisbon, was southbound on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township at 4:30 p.m. Friday when a tree branch fell on her vehicle.
– Scott L. Ingledue, 66, Bowman Road, Homeworth, was eastbound on Bowman Road in Stark County at 5:55 p.m. Saturday and hit a deer.
– John T. Swagger Jr., 23, Youngstown, was northbound on state Route 7 in Middleton Township at 2:13 a.m. Tuesday and went off the left side then off the right side into a ditch and overturned. He was cited for failure to control, OVI and failure to reinstate license and taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Lisbon
– Joseph M. Koffel, 36, East Chestnut Street, was charged with domestic violence following an incident at his home about 1 p.m. Tuesday. Koffel reportedly covered the face of Danise Moore with a pillow and then began choking her. He also stabbed the headboard with a knife while Moore lay in bed and threatened to kill her and her family if she contacted police.
Columbiana
– Someone reported at 11 a.m. Tuesday a man was knocking on doors along Fairfield Avenue and they didn’t know what he wanted. Police stopped the man and learned he was trying to see if anyone owned a Yorkie dog he found in the area. Police were able to take the dog home to the owner who had reported him missing earlier.
– A realtor requested at noon Tuesday police escort them to a foreclosed house on South Vine Street to make sure no one was inside.
– David Harmon, 34, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Metz Road at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday.
– A man reported at 5 p.m. Tuesday a woman and three girls 10 years old and younger were headed toward the park and appeared suspicious as one girl appeared to be only in her underwear with a long brown winter jacket. Police checked but were unable to find the group.
Liverpool Township
– Billie Conrad, Annesley Road, reported a push mower and a tool box taken from underneath her carport, while a second tool box was left behind. Asked if her ex-husband may have taken the items, Conrad told police that was probably highly unlikely. She asked for extra checks of her property.
– Joseph Earich, Fifth Avenue, reported several cinderblocks busted in a clearing on his property. He told officers several makeshift seats had been made from the blocks, indicating to him several people had been trespassing. He also noticed a beer can in a paper bag on the hillside and pizza wrappers stuffed in his tree stand. He was advised extra checks would be made of his property.
– Rocky Smith, Pennsylvania Avenue Extension, reported his mailbox appeared to have been beaten with a blunt object. He was advised extra checks of his property would be conducted.
St. Clair Township
– Zack Volino, no address listed, reported he was hanging fliers at Walmart regarding his Jeep which he had reported stolen Nov. 9 to East Liverpool police when he saw the vehicle sitting in the parking lot.
– Madeylon Starkey, Summerset Drive, reported her neighbor’s large dog came up behind her, scaring her. She turned to avoid the dog and fell, breaking her leg. Starkey was in the hospital when she called to report the incident, according to police.
– While attempting to serve a warrant on Christopher M. Collins, 34, at the Summit Drive apartment complex, officers said he ran out the back door. Patrolman Max Nolder apprehended Collins following a brief foot pursuit, taking him into custody on the outstanding warrant. He was turned over to county sheriff’s deputy Jasper Cannon.
– While westbound on East Liverpool Road at 3:34 a.m. Sunday, Chad R. Hunley, 36, Sidehill Road, East Liverpool, lost control of his vehicle. It struck the guardrail in the eastbound lane, crossed back into the westbound lane, coming to rest in a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.
– Jackie Roush Sr., 75, Duke Vodrey Road, East Liverpool, pulled onto state Route 170, striking Zachary D. Foster, 21, Michigan Avenue, East Liverpool, who was northbound. Roush was transported by North Star Critical Care ambulance to East Liverpool City Hospital and Foster’s passenger, Dominica S. Busby, 19, Wilbert Avenue, East Liverpool, was transported to the hospital by Lifeteam ambulance. Roush was cited for failure to yield.
Salem
– At 9:55 p.m. Tuesday, police received a report on station for a stolen vehicle from the 500 block of East Pershing. The vehicle was already recovered by the sheriff’s office in an apparent arson. The complainant was given the information for her to report the insurance company. The report was turned over to the detective.
– At 12:37 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to Egypt Road and U.S. 62 to assist Perry Township police.
– At 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, police in the 200 block of Rose Avenue were flagged by a woman who advised there was damage to water hoses at two local car washes.
– Police responded to the 600 block of Cherry Street at 3:42 p.m. Tuesday where the complainant said a neighbor called him a name so he became angry. Both were advised to stay away from each other.
– Police responded to the South Lundy and Franklin area at 1:48 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a loud man. He said he was yelling into his phone and advised to refrain from yelling early in the morning.
– At 2:52 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the area of Jennings Avenue for a possible hit-skip. Perry Township police reported the vehicle may be northbound on Jennings Avenue. An officer followed rim gouge marks in the 700 block of Jennings to an address and a closed garage in the 400 block of West 8th Street. A person exited the garage and was advised of the investigation and attempted to prevent the officer from conducting the investigation. Michael J. Lottman, 471 W. 8th St., was charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest, failure to control and leaving the scene. He was taken to the county jail.
– At 6:11 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 800 block of Aetna Avenue where an elderly woman was unsure of her location. Officers were able to locate her residence and release her to her husband.
– At 7:24 p.m. Tuesday, Cierra N. Rice, 351 W. Pershing St. was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for domestic violence. She was taken to the county jail.
– At 7:13 p.m. Tuesday, Thomas G. Piatt, 428 Vine Ave., was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for domestic violence and taken to the county jail.

– The fire department responded to what turned out to be a defective fire alarm going off at the Vista Center at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

County Sheriff
– Danielle Kenst, Cherry Valley Drive, Leetonia, reported Monday receiving threatening text messages from Sara Williams. The deputy advised her to block the phone number and then called Williams, who denied making any threats. Both parties were advised to have no contact with each other.
– Brian Clipse reported there was a domestic dispute on Salem Grange Road, Salem, at 2:40 p.m. Monday. Police spoke with Elaine H. Clark and Eric Stanislaw, who claimed being assaulted by the other. There was no visible signs of injuries, and both declined to press charges.
– Mark Cuddy reported his 1985 Honda ATV was stolen over the weekend from his business garage on state Route 14, East Palestine.
– Marcie Gregory, Darner Road, Lisbon, called Monday about a scam after receiving a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft. The caller said her computer was sending out viruses and that Gregory could go to jail. Gregory then provided the man with her passwords to Microsoft, Google and Yahoo before she realized this might be a scam. When she called the foreign-sounding man back he threatened to blow her up.
– Homer Carnes, Desellem Road, Lisbon, reported being assaulted when he was dropped off at the home of his friend, Bobby Hill, Grant Street, Lisbon, at 9:54 p.m. Monday. Chad Brewer reportedly chased Carnes outside and threw him to the ground and began punching him the face. Witnesses Shirley Bumbarger and Nicole Klink said Carnes walked in without knocking and threw the first punch at Brewer, who then chased Carnes outside. The witnesses did not see what went on outside after that because they closed the door and stayed inside with a young child who had become frightened by what was transpiring. Carnes was determined to be the aggressor and was charged with obstructing police business for lying about what had occurred.
– Sherry O’Hara, Pine Hollow Road, Rogers, reported Monday they have been receiving harassing and vulgar calls on their company phone from someone they do not know. The deputy called the number and told the caller to cease calling them or she would be charged with phone harassment. The deputy said the caller sounded as if she was mentally handicapped. A half hour later the person called back and threatened to harm O’Hara’s son and her for calling the sheriff’s office. The deputy said he would attempt to determine where the caller lives and have the local police check.
– Howard Dilman from the Akron area reportedly backed his company vehicle into a vehicle being driven by Amy Menough, Depot Road, Lisbon, in the Envelope One parking lot on state Route 344 in Fairfield Township at 11:19 a.m. Nov. 10.
– Dave Holloway, Crestview Road, Leetonia, reported on Nov. 10 he was looking at tools in the Cashland in Columbiana when he saw his Dewalt angle grinder for sale. It turns out Holloway knows who sold the grinder to Cashland and he is not sure if he wants to press charges.
– Lynn Birch, Cream Ridge Road, Elkrun Township, reported her car had been ransacked Monday night but nothing appeared to be missing.
– Ben E. Metts, 41, of North Benton, was charged with aggravated trespassing and James A. Hoover, 39, of Alliance, was charged with assault following a domestic dispute at the Bennett residence on Georgetown Road, Homeworth, at 12:21 a.m. Tuesday. Metts and Hoover showed up and were making threats and then began throwing outdoor items at the house and vehicles. Hoover also reportedly threw Tracy Bennett to the ground and struck her son’s vehicle as he was driving away. Hoover said he was dropping off some of his ex-girlfriend’s items, and she is married, when things became heated, but he and Metts denied any wrongdoing.

– Joseph Curran, Strader Road, East Liverpool, reportedly backed into a parked vehicle belonging to Robert W. Hughes, Fairway Road, East Liverpool, in the Vista Center lot at 6:13 p.m. Monday.
– William K. Thompson, 48, North Jefferson Street, was cited for failure to control after his vehicle dropped into a ditch, striking a culvert and overturning while driving on East High Street at 5:43 p.m. Nov. 9. Thompson said he became distracted while retrieving something he had dropped.

– Lisbon police requested at 12:14 a.m. Monday an officer attempt to contact someone in the city that they dealt with earlier. Police found the person and told them to call Lisbon police.
– A woman reported at 12:11 p.m. Monday she saw some small bullets on the sidewalk along Union Street and she was afraid to pick them up. Police checked the area but did not find the bullets.
– A man reported at 1:21 p.m. Monday a truck hit a pole and kept going on West Park Avenue near Cross Street. Police checked the area but did not find the vehicle. The electric department replaced the pole.
– Someone reported at 4 p.m. Monday a wrecked car for sale was parked illegally on the corner of Elm and Parkview streets. Police found the vehicle was not violating any parking laws.
– A woman reported at 4:13 p.m. Monday she was behind someone who was driving recklessly on state Route 7 from Boardman. Police checked but did not find the vehicle.
– The highway patrol requested at 4:26 p.m. Monday police get a crash driver’s daughter from her home on Court Street and bring her to the police department until a trooper could pick her up and take her to her mother. When police arrived at the home the girl’s father was already with her so she would not be by herself.
– Jill Beck of Columbiana reported at 4:38 p.m. Monday she heard glass breaking and then saw kids run out of a home and ride off on their bicycles along Pittsburgh Street. Police checked and found the home had been vacant for some time and already had several broken windows. Police spoke with two kids on bicycles who denied being there.
– Police stood by at a Union Street home at 7:54 p.m. Monday while a sheriff’s deputy served a warrant on a resident.
– A Dollar General clerk reported at 8:26 p.m. Monday a woman was acting suspicious in the store and that she had been sitting in her vehicle for two hours prior to coming into the store.
– A woman reported at 10:16 p.m. Monday two high school aged boys dropped of a bicycle in front of her garage on West Park Avenue. Police found the bicycle had a flat tire and the woman said it could stay there until the boys returned for it.
East Palestine
– Police arrested Melissa Downey, 32, Park Avenue, at her home at 8:44 p.m. Thursday for an active warrant through warrant through the sheriff’s office.
Salem
– Police on patrol at 12:28 a.m. Tuesday saw people leaving Memorial Park and advised them of the park hours.
– At 8:22 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln where the complainant advised a coyote tried to get at her cat at the rear door and had happened on more than one occasion. Police were unable to locate the coyote.
– A Vine Avenue woman on Monday said her ex-boyfriend would not return her car keys. An officer resolved the issue.
– At 10:43 p.m. Tuesday, a South Lincoln Avenue woman two she has two health care companies come to her home to care for her. She reportedly discovered medication missing in the last 10 days and believed it may be one of the aides.
– Police responded to Woodland Avenue at 11:34 a.m. Tuesday where a man said school officials advised him to call the police and file unruly charges against his 17-year-old son and have the police get him. He was advised to contact juvenile court and talk with the prosecutor and also call the Portage County probate court about his mother claiming grandmother rights and taking her son to stay with her in North Benton. There are also custody issues .
East Liverpool
– Alexis Heard, no age or address listed, reported Sunday a road rage incident that began near the Dollar General downtown after she blew her horn at an SUV that cut her off in traffic. The SUV followed her to Vine Street, cutting her off three additional times. The final time, Heard and the other female driver exchanged words, with Heard saying the woman called her a racial slur and claimed to be the relative of a police officer. She took a picture of the license plate on the other vehicle, which was owned by a 48-year-old woman police identified.
– Zachariah N. Volino, 32, no address listed, reported Monday his Jeep was stolen during a breaking and entering at his family’s car wash business.
Wellsville
– Ryan Crabtree, Lincoln Avenue, reported Friday that someone overnight jacked up his red Honda Civic and stole the rear tire and rim, leaving the vehicle on bricks.

East Liverpool
– A man reported at 3 p.m. Saturday another man was harassing a woman in the Auto Zone parking lot. Police went to the store and spoke with the woman who said she has been harassed by the man for some time as she owed him half of $400 for the title loan on her vehicle. The man told police that he has the original title to the vehicle in his company’s name and that he was having his mother bring it over. Meanwhile, the woman provided a duplicate of the title and police conducted a search which showed the VIN number and registration were both listed in the woman’s name. Police then told the man he would have to let the woman leave with the vehicle due to it being a civil matter. Once she left the man’s mother arrived and was able to produce the title showing ownership of the vehicle belonging to the man.
– Police were called to Broadway Wharf at 1:20 p.m. Friday for a report of a gold car parked near the docks and two occupants appeared to be doing drugs. When police arrived the driver, identified as Charles Bailey, 53, started to leave the area, at which point police initiated a traffic stop. The passenger, identified as Floyd Brooks, 41, appeared to be shoving items beneath the seat of the vehicle and police could see a shoe string tied loosely around Bailey’s left arm. Two syringes were also within plain view on the floor behind the passenger seat. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and found two spoons with residue and burn marks on then and a napkin with what appeared to be blood. A third syringe was found inside the console box between the seats. Bailey and Brooks, addresses not listed, were both charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and the spoons were sent to a lab for testing.

– Police were called to Giant Eagle on state Route 170 at 7:54 a.m. Thursday for a report that a man was sleeping behind a dumpster. Police found Shayne M. Stone, 51, sleeping there and found he had an active warrant through the Marion County sheriff’s office for his arrest. He was taken into custody on the warrant and taken to the county jail.
– Melanie A. Barker, Bell School Road, reported Wednesday she received a call at 3 a.m. Monday from someone claiming to be a Mastercard representative and saying that her account had been locked and wanted her account information. Barker said at that point she hung up the phone. Police checked the number and discovered it was coming from a burn phone or Skype that is untraceable.
– Jessica Marie Prine McMillan reported at 8:44 a.m. Tuesday she lost her wallet while shopping at the Calcutta Wal-Mart.
– Police were called to 16555 Glenn St. at 12:43 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a burglary. Kelly Hooper told police she had just returned home and noticed the trailer had been ransacked and that as she was leaving to go to the neighbor’s a man told her he saw a tall thin man wearing blue jeans and a grey hooded sweatshirt walking toward the trailer. Police checked the trailer but found no one inside.

– An officer responded to an 1100 block East State Street business at 8:18 a.m. Sunday where a woman reported a female customer had placed items in her purse and left without paying.
– Officers responded to the area of Franklin and Maple at 12:16 p.m. Sunday for a report of two men with a ladder on a telephone pole. The men were gone before officers arrived, but the officers discovered the copper ground wire had been tampered with.

– Police were called to 16555 Glenn St. at 12:43 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a burglary. Kelly Hooper told police she had just returned home and noticed the trailer had been ransacked and that as she was leaving to go to the neighbor’s a man told her he saw a tall thin man wearing blue jeans and a grey hooded sweatshirt walking toward the trailer. Police checked the trailer but found no one inside.
Salem
– An officer responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 6:32 p.m. Saturday in reference to a dog left tied up alone in a backyard since the previous Sunday. The animal control officer arrived and took the dog.
– Officers responded to the 100 block of North Ellsworth at 10:05 p.m. Saturday for a report of kids throwing items into the roadway, but were unable to find anything suspicious.
– Police responded to the Cleveland Street area at 5:09 a.m. Sunday where a woman reported two intoxicated men tried to approach her vehicle. Officers did not find the men.
– An officer responded to an 1100 block East State Street business at 8:18 a.m. Sunday where a woman reported a female customer had placed items in her purse and left without paying.
– Officers responded to the area of Franklin and Maple at 12:16 p.m. Sunday for a report of two men with a ladder on a telephone pole. The men were gone before officers arrived, but the officers discovered the copper ground wire had been tampered with.

– A deputy was called to the area of state Route 30 near Stroup Road at 11:49 a.m. Saturday for a report of two juveniles looking through mail boxes and through people’s homes. The deputy searched the area but did not find the juveniles.
Columbiana
– Jock Johnson reported at 11 a.m. Friday the building at the rear of the 7&14 truck stop was broken into although nothing was taken.
– A man reported at 3 p.m. Friday he received several calls about a couple of gas cans in the middle of the road and gas was leaking from them. The street department removed the cans and put down material to soak up the leaked gas.
– Richard Schwartz, East Park Avenue, reported at 3:37 p.m. Friday a vehicle went through his yard and kept going. Police found the property was not damaged.
– Kay Scyoc, East Railroad Street, reported at 3:57 p.m. Friday she is having a dispute with her step-son who lives next door and in the process of being evicted.
– A North Vine Street boy reported at 10:55 p.m. Friday he was home alone with his cousin, and they could hear footsteps upstairs. Police checked but found no on inside and no indication anyone had been upstairs.
Salem
– Officers responded to an 800 block East Third Street home at 4:55 p.m Friday in reference to a burglary in progress. The incident was determined to be a civil matter, however officers found a possible burglary occurred earlier in the day.
– Tammy J. Souers, 49, last of 318 E. Third St., Salem, was charged with theft after allegedly stealing $14 worth of merchandise from a 200 block West State Street at 5:14 p.m. Friday.
– A woman reported at 5:56 p.m. Friday that someone had taken the dealer plate off a vehicle she was test driving it between Nov. 8 and 11, possible while in the parking lot of 2800 East State Street business. The plate number was found not to exist and the woman said she would check with the dealer for the correct number.
– Michael E. Milliken, 25, 480 W. Sixth St., Salem, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at Jennings Avenue and West Second Street at 10:09 p.m. Friday.
– Lisa R. Miller, 45, 415 W. Oregon Ave., Sebring, was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated and marked lanes following a traffic stop at East Pershing Street and South Broadway Avenue at 10:36 p.m. Friday.
– Police are investigating three incidents of criminal damage in which someone broke the front windows of three homes in the 600 block of Deming Street around midnight Saturday.
– An officer responded to a 400 block East State Street establishment at 12:31 a.m. Saturday where a man reported an unknown person had threatened him and his employees via telephone, saying that he would come to the business with a gun and several other individuals. Officers returned to the business at 2:25 a.m. after an employee reported the man had arrived and was threatening the staff. The man left prior to officers’ arrival and they were unable to find him.
– A patrolling officer at 12:36 a.m. Saturday observed two vehicles in the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue with damaged to the windshields which appeared to be caused by a baseball bat. A resident in the area said they heard a noise approximately 30 minutes prior but did not see anyone near the vehicles.
– An officer responded to a 2200 block East State Street business at 12:57 p.m. Saturday where the manager reported an employee had stolen an unknown amount of money over the past two months.
– Officers responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 1:52 p.m. Saturday where a resident reported someone within the past couple days had removed an a-arm for his wife’s vehicle from the back of his pick up truck and then took a jack handle. In addition he said he had just discovered someone had also tampered with his truck’s brake line, which broke, and loosened the lug nuts on one of the tires.

County Sheriff
– Donald Picknell, Lowmiller Road, Minerva, reported at 7 a.m. Thursday finding a teenage boy and girl near an old school bus on his property, who told him they had been out in the weather all night. Picknell brought them back to the house, where his family gave them dry clothing before putting them to bed and calling the sheriff’s office. It turned out the pair were reported as missing/runaways and both attended Minerva High School. They were transferred to the custody of Minerva police.
– A caller reported a possible domestic dispute on Lake Street, Beloit, at 12:15 a.m. Friday. Deputies spoke with Samantha Shultz and Scott Freet, and they said she had locked Freet out of the house and he was banging on the door to get in.
– Greg Tuel, Georgetown-Damascus Road, Beloit, reported Tuesday a keg of beer was stolen from his out building over the weekend.

– David L. Huffman, 62, Edgewood Drive, Salem, struck a deer while driving on state Route 14 in Unity Township at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday.
– Nathan A. Johnston, 18, Taggart Drive, Wellsville, was cited for failure to control after he went off the road and striking a guardrail while turning from state Route 170 in Middleton Township at 5:28 a.m. Tuesday.
– Sarah M. Jones, 62, state Route 164, Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield after pulling from a private driveway onto state Route 45 in Center Township and striking a passing vehicle operated by Ivy A. Miller, 20, East Chestnut Street, Lisbon. This occurred at 5:35 p.m. Thursday.
– Richard A. Glidden, 28, sideswiped a utility police while driving through the Railroad Auto Spa car wash parking lot in Salineville at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday. The car was a Taurus owned by the village.
-Gina P. Hampson, 53, of North Benton, was cited for failure to stop an assured cleared distance after striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Zara J. Faloon, 33, St. Clair Avenue, East Liverpool, who was stopped on Cameron Road in Madison Township at 3:18 p.m. Tuesday because an oncoming car had crossed the centerline.
– John W. Green, 23, Glenwood Avenue, East Palestine, was cited for failure to stop an assured cleared distance after striking the rear of vehicle driven by Abby R. Knowlton, 28, Heck Road, East Palestine, who was stopped to turn from state Route 14 in Unity Township at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Lisbon
– Deborah Greiner reported she is living in town with her daughter, and on Wednesday night Edith Devine called her daughter’s cellphone in violation of a no-contact order issued by county municipal court. The officer told Greiner to have her daughter bring her cellphone to the police station, and she said Devine was claiming Greiner and her daughter were calling her, which Greiner denied.
– Police were called to Smith Oil at 11:25 a.m. Thursday after a woman had tripped and fallen forward on the sidewalk. She was found face down, complaining of pain in her back and arm. The officer waited until an ambulance arrived to transport her to a local hospital.
– Deborah M. Short, 60, West Chestnut Street, reportedly failed to yield the right of way and struck a vehicle operated by Lisa M. Peruchetti, 52, West Washington Street, at the intersection of Chesnut Street and Thomas Road at 2:37 p.m. Wednesday.
Salem
– Police responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 7:32 a.m Friday for a fight in the parking lot. Police observed three people yelling at each other. One person advised there was a verbal argument with another man who hit him in the mouth with a tire iron. Photos were obtained. One man said it started last week at the same place when the other man slammed him against his truck and he grabbed a tire iron to protect himself and swung at the man hitting him in the mouth. All parties said they would write statements and it will be forwarded to the county prosecutors office. It remains under investigation.
– Police responded to the 700 block of East 5th Street at 12:28 a.m. Friday where officer was advised the person was heard talking about possibly hurting himself. He was intoxicated and OK.
– At 1:02 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 700 block of West State Street for a report of a suspicious person sitting in a car for two hours. He said he was supposed to meet someone there and he was advised to go to a public parking area.
– Police responded to the 900 block of New Garden Avenue at 3:37 a.m. Friday for a woman to be removed. She said she lived there for three months, but the complainant said it was about one month. They agreed she would stay the night and leave in the morning.
– Melanie R. Sobeck, 597 Walnut Street was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant at 11:21 p.m. Thursday for failure to appear. She was released to a deputy.
– At 9:16 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 200 block of East 4th Street where a man was unconscious on the couch. An ambulance took him to the hospital.
– At 5:38 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 1100 block of East State Street where a recovered item was located. Police will attempted to find contact the owner and it was placed in the lost and found.
– At 4:11 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the Olive and Cherry Street area for two complaints of reckless operation near a bus stop. Police spoke to the driver and advised them of the complaint and the consequences.
Salineville
– Police were called at 8:10 p.m. Oct. 30 to an Academy Street residence regarding a neighbor dispute. Officers spoke with the complaintant who said the neighbors had been knocking on her door late at night and were hanging around her house. The neighbor denied the accusations.
– Rhonda Jones reported at 11:55 p.m. Oct. 31 that her elderly male Rottweiler dog was attacked by another unknown dog. Officers advised Jones to take the dog immediately to the closest veterinarian for treatment. An hour later, officers checked on Jones and her companion, Scott Wallen, to see what they did with the injured dog, but were no further ahead on where or whom they were taking the dog to, and so officers contacted the Columbiana County Dog Warden to assist in the matter. Jones and Wallen took the dog to the Dog Warden’s office, where it was euthanized due to its injuries. The suspect dog at large was corraled by officers and the owner took custody of the animal. Officers advised Daniel Riggs to quarantine the dog and contact the Dog Warden’s office for further action. Riggs was cited for having a dog at large failing to confine or restrain.
– Police were called at 5:21 p.m. Nov. 1 to a Mill Street residence where a man injured his hand. Medics arrived at the scene and the man was taken to East Liverpool City Hospital.
– A passing motorist reported at 2:50 p.m. Monday that her windshield received a chip from a rock thrown by a trailer she was driving behind. Officers advised her that this was not a police-related matter and the other driver could not be held liable.
– Police were called at 3:01 p.m. Monday to a Madison Avenue residence in regards to an unruly 15-year-old boy. The boy’s guardian said the boy was told he was not allowed to go to the park that day and became non-compliant and continued to bother the guardian. Officers advised the boy to obey his parents, and he agreed to settle down.
Wellsville
– Keith Russell, owner of L and L Motors on Third Street, reported at 4:30 p.m. Monday that a worker drove a vehicle to AutoZone on state Route 170, and the dealer plate came off the back and was lost. Russell said the plate was magnetic and believed it probably fell off.
– Oliver Lonkert, 18th Street, reported at 6:30 p.m. Monday that-sometime between midnight and 6 a.m.-someone stole a Confederate flag from outside his residence.
– A woman reported at 8 p.m. Monday that there was a fight in front of a Clark Avenue residence. An officer found one man, who said he fell off the porch, bleeding from his mouth and above his left eye. Another man was stated to be in the house, but could not be located by officers. No charges were filed at this time since all parties claimed no one was fighting.
– Police were called at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday to a Washington Street residence regarding a man and woman beating on the door. Officers made contact with two people who said a man inside the residence sold them Penicillin earlier in the night instead of Vicodin and wanted their money back. The Penicillin was confiscated, and the two declined to write a statement pertaining to them attempting to purchase narcotics.

County Sheriff
– Someone from Salem Regional Community Hospital asked for a deputy to check on the well being of a couple who live on Shining Tree Lane in Salem Township at 6:31 p.m. Tuesday. A deputy arrived and spoke with the couple, who were fine.
– Steve Mays, East Liverpool Road, East Liverpool, reported his utility trailer was stolen while he was at the Rogers Sale on Tuesday.
– Deputies were called to a residence on Gorby Road, East Palestine, at 9:48 a.m. Tuesday because a 16-year-old girl was being unruly. The girl was told she needed to mind her mother, and the girl was somewhat mouthy and defiant in her response. The parents were told to contact county juvenile court to see what can be done, and the family left at this point for court.
– Patricia Elam of Atlanta reported Tuesday the home of her late brother in Hanover Township was broken into and the only thing disturbed was a filing cabinet.
– Deputies were called to the Y Inn in Rogers at 12:12 a.m. Thursday in regard to a domestic dispute that occurred on Riffle Road. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with Joan Cox, who said her boyfriend had pushed her, but she declined to press charges.
– Michelle Owens, 32, Westville Lake Road, failed to yield while turning into the Knox Elementary School parking lot at 3 p.m. Tuesday and her vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by David C. Hill, 56.
– A deputy was called to United Local High School at 8:50 a.m. Nov. 4 in response to a fight between two female students, one of whom shoved the other to the floor. The aggressor was suspended for three days.
Lisbon
– David Wurtz of Dalton reported leaving his wallet at the BP station on Tuesday and calling the manager to put it aside until he could drive back to get it the next day. When Wurtz retrieved the wallet the next day he discovered all of the cash was gone. The manager later reported a clerk – a 21-year-old Lisbon woman – admitted stealing the money but has agreed repay Wurtz by Nov. 26 or charges will be pursued.
– Police were called to the BP station at 10:54 a.m. Wednesday after a man reportedly fell and hit his head while walking across state Route 154. The officer remained until an ambulance arrived to transport the man to a local hospital.
– Daniel Weber was driving on North Market Street at the intersection of Saltwell Road at 7:49 p.m. Tuesday when he misjudged his turn and pulled into a grassy area near the sidewalk and continued driving in an attempt to get out and become stuck in the mud. His vehicle was towed out by Baker’s Towing.
Columbiana
– A man reported at 2:46 p.m. Wednesday he believed Bill Kimpel was selling jewelry from his car in their parking lot or was possibly using their wireless Internet. Police checked and found no jewelry or a computer in his vehicle and he just appeared to be sleeping there. He was told to move on.
– Dwayne Carlisle, West Salem Street, reported at 5:42 a.m. Wednesday his car was broken into overnight.
– A man reported at 12:42 p.m. Wednesday a woman was walking in front of cars on South Avenue in the area of the Dutch Haus.
East Palestine
– Joseph Scheibert, East Main Street, was arrested at 1 a.m. Thursday on North Sumner Street for public intoxication after police witnessed him staggering on and off the road near the car wash. He was also cited for open container.
– Police were called to 177 E. Main St. at 10:42 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival Joseph Scheibert said that his ex-girlfriend Ashley Clark was at the home and they were arguing and she struck him in the face and then left. Police investigated and found there was no foul play but warned Clark for trespassing and told her if she returned she would be arrested for trespassing.
– Police were called to a neighbor dispute on Wood Street at 3:26 a.m. Sunday. Police told the residents they would be charged with disorderly conduct if the complaints continued.
– Anna Anderson, East North Avenue, reported at 10:53 p.m. Saturday someone was outside her bedroom window knocking on the glass. Police searched the area but did not find anyone.
– A Wood Street boy reported on Nov. 5 that his bicycle had been missing for the last two days. He later reported he found the bicycle.
– Police were called to a two car private property crash at a West Main Street business at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday. Police found that a 1998 Toyota Sienna van driven by Natalie Bustamante had backed into an unoccupied parked 2009 Saturn causing minor damage. No citations were issued due to being on private property.
– Police were called to the area of West Rebecca Street at 7 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a Dollar General delivery truck knocking over the stop sign at the Walnut Street intersection. The driver, Alvin Terry Philips, Hamlin, W.Va., told police he was unaware he had hit the sign and that it was his first delivery to the store. There did not appear to be any damage to the trailer or the sign and the street department was contacted. No citations were issued.
– Sarah E. Helbeck, West Martin Street, reported at 4:11 p.m. Oct. 29 someone spray painted the door of her vehicle with black paint.
– Jon W. Rettig Jr., West Martin Street, reported at 3:54 p.m. Oct. 29 someone spray painted the north side of his garage with black paint.
– Police were called to 105 E. Main St. at 8:22 a.m. Oct. 27 for a neighbor dispute. Police spoke with Larry Bart, who said that one of the other tenants was out in the garage with his hood up on their Black Equinox and when he asked if they were having problems they started yelling obscenities at him.
– Police were called to East Palestine schools at 8:17 a.m. Oct. 23 in reference to several students who have missed an excessive amount of school. The students were referred to the county juvenile court for further action.
East Liverpool
– Officers were advised Wednesday by Denise Ferrebee, Lisbon Street, that her live-in girlfriend, Dana L. Price, 43, had assaulted her. Ferrebee showed officers a large bite mark on her forearm she said Price inflicted after they returned home from the Moose and had an argument. Price’s phone was recovered from the roadway across the street. Price was charged with domestic violence.
Salem
– Police responded to the intersection of South Ellsworth Avenue and East State Street at 1:08 p.m. Wednesday where a northbound semi driven by Michael L. Jenson, 41, Columbus, Neb., had struck a light pole during an attempted east turn. No injuries were reported and no citations issued.
– Police responded to a report of an unresponsive person in the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:49 p.m. Wednesday and found a co-worker performing CPR. The person was transported to SRMC.
– Officers responded to a domestic dispute at an East Fifth Street home at 2:01 p.m. Wednesday and found a woman with two small children attempting to leave. She was highly emotional and threatened to harm herself, so she was transported by ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation. The children were turned over to a grandparent. The man involved refused to provide a written statement or pursue charges against the woman. An officer noted a broken dish that she had alleged smashed on the floor near her young son.
– Police responded to an East State Street business at 4:52 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a customer arguing with employees. The customer said that she had gotten in the argument after locking her parents in a vehicle while she shopped for them, noting it was for their safety since her father has dementia and her mother does not walk well. An officer spoke with the parents who said nothing was wrong.
– An officer responded to a Brooklyn Avenue home at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday for an unresponsive person found by a family member. The person had diedd.
– Police responded to a domestic dispute at an East Third Street home at 8:53 p.m. Wednesday and found several people had been involved in a verbal argument regarding an incident earlier in the evening. All agreed to go their separate ways.
– Officers responded to an East Third Street apartment complex at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday where a resident reported noise on the second floor. Officers were unable to find the noise and returned to the patrol car when the resident approached and again complained of a thumping noise at a different second floor apartment. The officers were still unable to locate the noise, but advised the other resident of the complaint.
– Police responded to a 1200 block Franklin Avenue home at 1:58 a.m. Thursday where the resident reported hearing a noise at an attached storage area and noticing someone had been in his greenhouse. He said he then saw someone running through his backyard toward Cedar Ridge Drive. The officer was unable to find anyone and the resident said nothing appeared to be missing.
Goshen Police District
– A Calla Road resident reported at 11 a.m. Monday she and her husband took their 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis to a repair shop in Damascus in June and requested the business owner to have it repaired at the employees’ convenience. She said that they contacted the business owner after observing it moved from in front of the business and found that the owner did not move it, noting that he was under the assumption the couple had retrieved in September because it had not been fixed yet. The owner said that it had to have towed away because it was not operable at the time.

Highway Patrol
– Thomas G. Kraft, 69, Laurie Road, East Liverpool, was northbound on state Route 170 in Middleton Township at 10 a.m. Monday and was struck by Andrea M. Fleisher, 66, Pittsburgh, who was westbound on Pancake Clarkson Road and failed to yield. Fleischer was cited for right of way.
– Tanya Ann Barnhart, 31, East Clark Street, East Palestine, was eastbound on state Route 14 in Unity Township at 4:55 p.m. Thursday and was struck by Kaitlyn Michelle Dewell, 16, Macklin Road, New Waterford, who was southbound on Macklin Road and pulled from a stop sign into the intersection. Dewell was cited for traffic control device and Barnhart was taken to the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown with serious injuries. Her three passengers, ages 7, 8 and 9, all from East Palestine, were also taken to the Akron Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of the children are unknown.
– Dustin P. Peppel, 37, Pendleton Street, Lisbon, was northbound on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 6:30 p.m. Monday and hit a deer.
– Jennifer Kay Moore, 29, Hubbard, was southbound on state Route 45 and hit a deer.
– Marie R. Dietrich, 31, Manor Road, Minerva, was eastbound on Ridge Road in West Township at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday and India V. Mottice, 22, Magnet Road, Minerva, was westbound and went left of center into Dietrich, causing Dietrich’s vehicle to catch fire. Dietrich was taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and Mottice was taken to Aultman Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No citations were issued.
– Troopers are looking for the driver of a vehicle that was eastbound on state Route 154 in Elkrun Township at 8 a.m. Thursday and went off the right side into a fence before continuing on.
– Suan Troy Cleckley, 48, Kingsridge Court, East Liverpool, was southbound on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 7:12 p.m. Sunday and hit a deer.
– Nicholas Jordan Landon, 22, Beloit, was westbound on Hartley Road in Knox Township at 7:15 p.m. Sunday and went off the left side into an embankment, mailbox and a utility pole. He was cited for failure to control.
Lisbon
– A female resident of Apple Grove apartments reported there was a man outside her window at 12:02 a.m. Oct. 29. Police searched the area but did not see anyone about.
– Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 7:23 p.m. Nov. 5, where a resident said her head would not slow down and it was taking her to a dark place that she could not escape. The officers remained until an ambulance arrived to transport her to a local hospital.
– A caller reported there was a reckless driver on North Market Street at 3:16 p.m. Friday. Although the driver was not driving recklessly, the officer warned him if he was doing so he needed to stop.
– Police performed a welfare check on Maple Street at 7:37 p.m. Friday after the family was unable to contact the resident. The woman who lived there was fine and said she must have left the phone off the hook.
– A caller reported there was a male trying to pull away the plastic on the fence around the football stadium in an attempt to watch the football game at 8:12 p.m. Saturday. The female caller yelled at the man, who had a step stool with him, and he took off running. Police searched the area but were unable to locate him.
– Jay A. Nolte, U.S. Route 30, Lisbon, was backing up at the Valley View convenience store when he struck a vehicle driven by Shawn L. Laughlin, of Grandview Street, at 7:49 p.m. Sunday.
– An official at the county mental health counseling center reported at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday that Vickie Waite was walking around Apple Grove apartments threatening to kill someone with a pair of scissors. Police arrived and arrested the 55-year-old Waite on menacing charges.
– Thomas Page, South Green Street, reported Oct. 18 he believed he was scammed out of $850 after he listed his car for sale and a person posing as a buyer offered to buy it if Page would ship the vehicle to California. The person told Page he would pay through Paypal for the purchase and shipping.
Columbiana
– Chet Paxson, East Park Avenue, reported at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday his vehicle’s windshield was smashed sometime during the night.
– Richard M. McClain Jr., 36, Youngstown, was west-bound in the right turn lane on state Route 14 at 9:29 p.m. Tuesday and Michael J. Cunningham, 53, Santaquin, Utah, was also westbound and improperly attempted to enter the right lane and struck McClain’s vehicle. Cunningham was cited for marked lanes.
East Palestine
– The manager of Meadow View Apartments on South Washington Street reported at 9:59 a.m. Tuesday there was a vehicle in the parking lot that had no registration plates. Police found the vehicle belonged to a resident and the manager said she would tell the resident to have plates put on the vehicle or it would be removed from the property.
East Liverpool
– Donald Caiazza, no address listed, reported Monday an issue at the VFW. No other details were reported.
Salem
– A suspicious person was reported at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of West Perry Street where a woman said an unknown person was knocking on her door. Officers were unable to find anyone in the area.
– A dispute over residency was reported at 10:48 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Liberty Street. The people were advised of the eviction procedure and officers spoke with both parties in an attempt to end the hostilities for the evening.
– A parking complaint was reported at 7:01 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West 14th Street. The driver was located and the vehicle was moved without incident.
– A hit/skip was reported at 5:13 p.m. Tuesday in the Home Depot parking lot in the 2900 block of East State Street where a vehicle owned by Susan Jackson of Sebring was struck by another vehicle pulling into a parking space. The other vehicle left the scene. Officers were unable to locate the other vehicle.
Perry Township
– A vehicle driver by Kimberlin Buffington, 42, of Alliance, sustained damage to the right front fender and hood after a 10-point buck jumped over the guard rail and into the vehicle’s path, getting struck at 11:48 a.m. Wednesday on the state Route 45 bypass just west of Carriage Hill Drive.
– Police were called at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday regarding several alarms going off at the 200 block of Depot Road. A caller at the site said he set off the car alarm on a vehicle and did not have the keys to the vehicle.
– A suspicious person was reported in the 200 block of Idaho at 9:46 a.m. Wednesday by a neighbor who said a male was walking around an unoccupied house. Police learned the male was replacing door locks at the residence per the request of the family.
– Police and the county dog warden’s office were called at 8:19 a.m. Tuesday to the 1300 block of West State Street to investigate a dog attack. The report said a female was knocked to the ground and suffered a head injury which required medical attention. The dog owner was contacted and was cooperating with both police and the dog warden.
– Police responded to the 1300 block of Highland Avenue East at 1:56 p.m. Monday for a residential alarm going off. An officer spoke with two representatives from Ohio Edison who were on the road in front of the residence. They said they shut the power off to the residence and after turning the power back on, reset the alarm which set it off.
– The owner of a consignment shop on East Pidgeon Road reported at 8:31 a.m. Monday that she found a vehicle parked at her business with no one around. Police checked the registration and made contact with the owner, who said the vehicle broke down. The owner said the vehicle would be removed that day.
POLICE
County Sheriff
– Joann Lucas, Randel Road, Hanover Township, reported at 5 p.m. Friday a man had just crashed near her home and the driver was leaving in a pickup truck. The driver, later identified as Jason Hurst, 38, fled from deputies and led them on a chase before they managed to stop the truck. A deputy was exiting his cruiser when Hurst sped up and the deputy jumped back inside. Hurst then struck the cruiser in the door and took off again before finally wrecking on a curve and rolling his truck over. Hurst, of Randel Road, was not seriously injured. He was charged with fleeing from the deputies, criminal endanger-ing/damaging for striking the cruiser, and domestic violence. The domestic violence had to do with Hurst reportedly shoving his girlfriend, Amanda McCallister, twice in the face after he reportedly came home from drinking and they started to argue.
– Two men in a gold Dodge Intrepid came to a home on Steubenville Pike, Salineville, Monday asking if the pastor was around. They said they were from Michigan and needed money to get home. After being told the pastor was not there, they left.
– Deputies responded to the home of Scott Grunder on Hillside Drive in Hanover Township at 2:42 p.m. Monday to discuss a neighbor dispute. Grunder’s neighbor, Jim Coffee, reportedly came across the street and dumped water on leaves that Grunder was burning. The two men had an argument. Grunder told police that there have been other incidents between the two men. Coffee was told to avoid Scott so there are no more incidents.
– Nancy Tondy, Quay Road, Negley, reported Monday her pool’s cover had been cut.
– Susan Thompson, Lower Elkton Road, Elkrun Township, reported Monday her unlocked 2008 Chrysler Town Car was entered and searched but nothing appeared to be taken.
– Joshua Webb, McGeehan Road, Wayne Township, reported a possible domestic dispute at his home at 2:44 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies spoke to Brenda Szegedi and Jesse Webb, both of whom said they had been arguing and nothing more.
– Bruce Croft, Cream Ridge Road, Madison Township, reported at 11:55 a.m. Monday someone in a green Nissan came to his home, then his brother’s next door and then their mother’s home claiming to be looking for someone. Croft suspected them of looking to burglarize the homes. Deputies searched Cream Ridge Road and other roads in the area but did not find the vehicle.
– Steve Greenamyer of Paris, Ky., reported Monday possible irregularities involving his elderly parent’s assets, which he discovered after showing up over the weekend at their home on U.S. Route 62, Butler Township, to get their home ready to sell.
– Leslie Reckner, state Route 45, Madison Township, reported at 7:48 a.m. Monday her neighbor’s horses were loose again, and deputies arrived to find two grazing in her back yard. The horses belong to Karen Lanious, who was not home. Reckner agreed to keep an eye on the horses until Lanious returned home.
– Ronald Reidy, Jimtown Road, Unity Township, reported Monday ATV riders were tearing up the lane he maintains and he does not know who they are, although the ATVs go back to another residence.
– Kathy Talamantes, Walnut Ridge Road, Washington Township, called for a deputy at 5:36 p.m. Monday for a domestic situation. Upon arrival, the deputy was asked by Talamantes to check on her boyfriend, who lives in Salem. Salem police were contacted and they found her boyfriend to be fine.
– Shawn Ramsey, Hill Street, Center Township, reported Sunday someone stole 400 pounds of copper wire from his shed. Ramsey had gathered the wire from his job.
– Valerie Buchanan, Mack-lin Road, Unity Township, reported at 8:34 p.m. Saturday hearing gunshots. The deputy checked Macklin and McCloskey but did not hear or see anyone shooting.
Lisbon
– An employee from the BP station reported at 2:56 a.m. Monday seeing a man in the woods behind the gas station and the person was staring at them. Police arrived and searched the woods but only saw some deer,
– A clerk at the Days Inn reported a man showed up at the door asking to be let in at 1:13 a.m. Monday, saying he was supposed to meet someone there but would not provide a name. The man was gone by the time an officer arrived.
– Joe Koffel, East Chestnut Street, reported at 11:55 a.m. Saturday his girlfriend’s daughter threw an object that struck him in the face while he was arguing with his girlfriend that started when they left a bottle of Jim Beam in a shopping cart at the Sparkle supermarket. The girl said when Koffel got in her mother’s face she tried to separate them, which is when he shoved her, so she responded by throwing a snack container at him. Koffel denied getting in anyone’s face. The girlfriend and her daughter left for the day to defuse the situation.
– Harry McKee, North Beaver Street, reported Saturday he believes items were stolen from his garage. There was no sign of forced entry, and McKee said he first noticed a month ago items were missing. When asked why he waited so long to file a report, McKee said he was waiting to see if other items turned up missing and then forgot to contact police. He was told to bring a list of the missing items to the police department.
– Makenzie Wilkes, 18, McCracken Road, Salem, reported that when she left the county vocational school on Thursday she was followed by an 18-year-old boy she knows and then he threw soda pop on her vehicle. Police spoke with the boy, identified as Logan Wilson, and warned him the next time he would be charged with criminal damaging.
– Edith L. Devine, 56, Oak Street, Salem, reported being assaulted at the Night Court on Oct. 28 by her ex-boyfriend’s mother. She was punched in the back and knocked to the floor. Devine recalls several more punches and kicks to her legs and face. Devine left the bar and returned home, where she sought treatment at the Salem Regional Medical Center. Police later spoke with Deborah Greiner, who said Devine started the fight and she only retaliated to get Devine to quit pulling her hair.
East Palestine
– Police arrested a juvenile for domestic violence at a West Martin Street home at 3 p.m. Monday.
– Police were called to 245 E. Martin St. at 5:18 p.m. Saturday for a report of a no trespassing sign being burnt by three juveniles in the area. Police spoke with all three girls who had a different version of who did the damage and all there were accusing others of doing the damage. The girls were turned over to their parents.
– Keith DeWayne Jr., South Washington Street, reported at 8:38 p.m. Saturday he was threatened by an East North Avenue man. He did not wish to press charges.
– Melissa R. McCartney, Plymouth Place, Salem, was arrested for OVI following a traffic stop on James Street at 2:24 a.m. Saturday. At 10:17 a.m. Saturday she reported that her vehicle was parked in an Alice Street driveway overnight and when she came out in the morning she noticed the rear window had been shattered. A witness told police that when he came outside around 3 a.m. the vehicle was fine. Evidence was found showing that something had been thrown at the vehicle.
Columbiana
– A man reported at 8 a.m. Monday dogs at a South Elm Street home had been barking since 7 a.m. Police told the owner, Mark Beck, of the complaint.
– Margarita Davis reported at 9:39 a.m. Monday tenants in the process of being evicted from a Fitzpatrick home had not had gas for heat at the home since August and there were small kids living there. Police checked and found they did have an electric heater and food and water for their kids.
– Lloyd Mills, 71, Lisbon, was charged with theft at 11:54 a.m. Monday for allegedly shoplifting milk from the Sparkle Market.
– At 1:14 p.m. Monday police received several calls about a vehicle parked across the road on West Park Avenue and traffic was backed up. The owner was contacted and discovered the unoccupied vehicle had accidentally rolled out of the driveway. The owner removed the vehicle.
– A man reported at 4 p.m. Monday a vehicle hit a sign on East Friend Street near Chestnut Alley and continued on.
– Jennifer Millerleile, 25, Poland, was stopped northbound on South Avenue at 4:21 p.m. Monday on South Avenue between Seventh Street and Salem Unity Road when she was rear-ended by Katherine Kissel, 47, Columbiana, who was also northbound. No citations were issued.
– David Holloway, Crestview Road, reported at 4:47 p.m. Monday he found an item belonging to him at Cashland. Police told him to file a report with the county sheriff’s office.
– A Beiling Veterinary employee reported at 5:17 p.m. Monday a customer had just left the office and appeared to be intoxicated or under the influence of something. Police checked the area but did not find the vehicle.
– A Firestone Avenue man reported at 6:22 p.m. Monday a neighbor’s dog was barking constantly and they are always tied out in the back yard. Police told the owner of the complaint.
– David M. Weikart, 44, Columbiana, was cited for public intoxication at 8:31 p.m. Monday on East State Route 14. At 9:44 p.m. he was arrested for public intoxicated and cited for disorderly conduct.
St. Clair Township
– Victoria Jordan, no age or address listed, reported that, while she was at the Calcutta McDonald’s, someone entered her unlocked car and took cash and checks from a bag on the front seat.
Salem
– A domestic dispute was reported at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of East Fifth Street where contact was made with the male and female tenants. The male said they had an argument and everything was fine. The female was uncooperative and did not want to speak with officers. There was no sign of physical violence.
– A keychain with multiple keys found near Josie’s Pizza on South Lundy Avenue three days ago was brought to the police station at 11:53 a.m. Tuesday and placed in lost and found.
– Amanda Hiner, 28, of 1118 E. Third St., was taken into custody at 10:54 a.m. Tuesday at her residence on a warrant out of Portage County for failure to appear. Police had gone to the property and asked a male if she was there and he said she was. She was arrested without incident, taken to the station and processed to be turned over to a Portage County deputy.
– A reckless operator was reported in the 2800 block of East State Street at 9:59 a.m. Tuesday. Police found the vehicle in question and noted an elderly-looking female appeared to be driving just fine now.
– Andrew Richardson, 25, of Prospect St., was cited for failure to yield after his eastbound vehicle drove into the intersection of West Pershing Street and South Howard Avenue and struck a northbound vehicle he didn’t see start into the intersection at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday. The other vehicle was driven by a 16-year-old from Hanoverton.
– An officer at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday found where someone drove over a stop sign in the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and Allen Road and fled. The sign department was contacted to replace the sign.
– A domestic was reported at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Aetna Street. A woman said she was involved in a verbal dispute with her juvenile daughter that escalated into a minor altercation. The daughter was upset that her boyfriend was not allowed over. The woman was told her options and an officer spoke with the daughter.
– Adam Tyson, 32, last known address East Second Street, was taken into custody at 8:55 p.m. Monday on North Madison on a warrant for failure to appear on a driving under suspension charge. Police had received an anonymous tip about him.
– Police were asked at 6:59 p.m. Monday to check the welfare of a city resident in the 1000 block of West Ninth Street, but were unable to make contact. A neighbor believed the person had moved out.
– – An officer at 6:21 p.m. Monday noticed an open gate on the side of a business in the 2300 block of East State Street. The business appeared to be closed, but officers checked and saw what appeared to be several employee vehicles in the lot and saw several employees still working inside.
– Police responded at 5:30 p.m. Monday to an open burning call in the 900 block of East Third, finding a person burning paper in a fire pit. They were told about the law.
– An officer at 4:54 p.m. Monday saw a large amount of white smoke coming from behind a residence in the 600 block of East Eighth Street. Found was a small cookout-type fire, but the resident had some leaves mixed in with the wood. The resident was told about the city ordinance.
– A resident of Pearce Circle reported at 4:50 p.m. Monday that he was a victim of fraud/identity theft.
– A caller at 4:33 p.m. Monday reported that someone had fallen in the 500 block of Prospect Street. A family member was on the scene, with no injury reported.
POLICE
Salem
– A woman from a business at 2487 E. State St. reported at 11:08 a.m. Sunday that she arrived at work and found the front door unlocked. Upon checking the store, $804 was missing from the business.
– Thomas Piatt, 21, of 438 Vine Ave., was cited for driving under suspension and Tesa Beery, 37, of the same address, was cited for wrongful entrustment after an incident Sunday morning. An officer on patrol at 10:31 a.m. on Rose Avenue saw an unlicensed motorist and tried to initiate a traffic stop, pursuing the vehicle after seeing it travel on East Third Street to Vine Avenue and the residence of the owner. The vehicle was found at the owner’s residence blocking the alley with the keys in the ignition. The officer made contact with the owner, Beery, and the unlicensed person who had allegedly attempted to change his appearance, identified as Piatt. He admitted to driving the car. The matter is under investigation for additional charges.
Perry Township
– A vehicle driven by Bobbi Dotson, 42, of the 1300 block of West State Street, struck a deer in the 1100 block of West State Street at 10:24 p.m. Sunday, causing moderate functional damage to the right front of the vehicle.
– A woman from the 1100 block of West State Street reported at 4:26 p.m. Sunday that she invited a friend into her apartment and when she awoke, she found her wallet missing. The wallet contained cash, a debit card and an identification card.
– George Tyson, of the 1000 block of Liberty Street, reported at 10:55 a.m. Saturday that sometime overnight someone broke the windshield wipers off of his vehicle.
– Township police were requested Friday night by the Ohio State Highway Patrol to check the area of Georgetown Road and state Route 45 for a vehicle with only three wheels operating in an erratic manner. Vehicle had already left the area in an unknown direction. There were no marks on the pavement to assist in locating the vehicle.
– Sean Bailey of Beloit reported at 5:53 a.m. Friday while his vehicle was parked in a parking space in the 1100 block of Prospect overnight, someone left a note on his windshield and scratched the driver’s side of the vehicle with an unknown object. He said he was told by management that there are no designated parking spaces in the lot.
Salem
– Firefighters were called at 4:28 p.m. Monday to the Giant Eagle plaza parking lot on East State Street for a possible motor vehicle fire. Smoke was coming from inside a vehicle with no flames visible. After opening the passenger doors, a plastic bag with ashtray contents in it was found smoldering on the passenger side floor mat. The floor mat and smoldering contents were removed from the vehicle and extinguished. It appeared the driver dumped the contents of the ashtray into the bag and went into a store. The situation was explained to her when she returned to the vehicle.
POLICE
County Sheriff
– Scott Caron from Performance GMC, state Route 7, New Waterford, reported a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck was stolen from the lot over the Oct. 31-Nov. 1 weekend.
– Jay Dunlap, Bayard Road, Minerva, reported at 7:26 p.m. Thursday that his neighbor was drunk and yelling vulgar things at his girlfriend. A deputy told the neighbor, Mark Morgan, that he would have to cease this behavior or otherwise risk going to jail.
– Scott Holloway, North Beaver Street, Lisbon, reported his vehicle was struck in the rear while being driven by his girlfriend in the parking of the Lisbon McDonald’s on Oct. 12. Holloway said both drivers exchanged information and agreed to handle things themselves, but that does not appear to be happening.
– Tracy Bennett, Georgetown Road, Homeworth, reported at 1:56 a.m. Friday her husband came home after drinking and began tearing up the house, including removing a blade from the bedroom ceiling fan. Patrick Bennett said he knocked off the fan blade after becoming upset while watching a football game he was watching. The deputy reported that Ms. Bennett was unhappy to learn nothing could be done since no threats or assaults occurred.
Ashley Mattern, Sprucevale Road, East Liverpool, reported being involved in a domestic dispute on Carmel-Achor Road in Middleton Township at 11:59 p.m. Saturday. Mattern said she was at the house to retrieve her child, but her sister and brother refused to let her have the child. Mattern said the child was taken from her by her husband due to her “new life decision of becoming a lesbian.” Mattern was told this was a civil matter for the courts to address because the father had as much right to their child as she did.
– Curtis Smith, Kranelle Lane, Beloit, reported Sunday his wife noticed there were pry and drill marks on their safe, and a saxophone that had been stored in the safe was missing.
– Linda Ghindea, Eastlake Road, Hanoverton, reported Sunday the Rubbermaid mail box was missing from her front yard.
John Merriman, state Route 45, Madison Township, called at 11:25 p.m. Sunday because he wanted someone removed from his property. Deputies found Jay Farrow in Merriman’s front yard, who said he went for a walk and became lost. The deputy gave Farrow a ride home to Lisbon.
– Jamie Adkins, state Route 45, Wellsville, reported a domestic dispute at 1:04 a.m. Monday. Deputies arrived and spoke with Tina Adkins, who said her husband Jamie began screaming at her, threw a glass of water at her and then acted as if were going to punch her. Their teenage son intervened, pushing and hitting his father in defense of his mother. Mr. Adkins said he wanted his wife to leave, which is why he threw water on her, but he was told this could constitute assault. As for his son, he would not be charged for trying to protect his mother. Mr. Adkins was given the option of leaving for the night, which he did, and Mrs. Adkins declined to file charges.
– Mary Molish, Valley Drive, East Liverpool, called the sheriff’s office at 1:25 p.m. Sunday because she had not heard from her daughter, Marissa Pancake, for several days. The deputy went to Pancake’s home on Pancake-Clarkson Road, Middleton Township, where her husband’s parents gave conflicting stories as to their whereabouts and said neither of them had cellphones. Just then, Marissa and her husband drove by and the deputies spoke with her, and she said everything was fine. The deputies also learned that both had cellphones.
– Michelle Long of Youngstown reported Sunday she believes someone is cutting down trees on her father’s property on state Route 164 in Center Township. Deputies spoke to Matt Earl, who said he was only cutting down trees on his property, but Long’s brother said they are unsure of the property lines. Earl was asked to stay a few feet away from the property line, which he agreed to do. The parties were also advised this was a civil matter.
– Carl Weaver, state Route 7, Columbiana, reported Sunday his 2004 Suzuki Intruder motorcycle and two generators were stolen from his property.
Highway Patrol
– Barbara D. Senanefes, 68, McCracken Road, Salem, was westbound on Salem Grange Road in Salem Township at 5:22 p.m. Friday and failed to yield from a stop sign at the Route 45 intersection and struck Marilyn E. Wells, 42, Steubenville Pike, Lisbon, who was northbound on state Route 45. Senanefes was cited for traffic control devices and taken to the SRMC with non-life-threatening injuries.
– Shane Douglas Brickner, 18, Carter Road, New Waterford, was southbound on Millrock Road in Unity Township at 2:40 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side into a bridge and overturned. He was cited for failure to control.
– Timothy Andrew Myers Jr., 28, Y Camp Road, Lisbon, was westbound on state Route 172 in West Township at 7:13 p.m. Sunday and hit a deer.
– Alexis R. Marshall, 18, West Main Street, Salineville, was southbound on state Route 164 in Wayne Township at 6:43 p.m. Sunday and hit a deer, which then entered the northbound lane and was struck by Michael K. McLaughlin, 50, Lower Elkton Road, Columbiana. McLaughlin was taken to the East Liverpool Hospital with serious injuries.
Columbiana
– A man reported at 9:43 a.m. Friday Frank Faye III was missing as family had not been able to contact him since Nov. 7. Police made contact with Faye on Pittsburgh Street and found there were no problems.
– Kelley Diamond reported at 2 p.m. Friday she was being harassed by William Keagy.
– Police euthanized a deer at 5:43 p.m. Friday that had been hit by a car in the Fairfield Avenue area. Matthew Trump filled out release forms for the deer.
– A woman reported at 8:18 p.m. Friday a woman was knocking on doors in the area of Union Street screaming and trying to get inside. Police found Shanda Randolph was to pick her son up at Matt Gillespies home. She was told to call the police department on Monday.
– A McDonald’s employee reported at 7 p.m. Saturday a woman in the store was stumbling around and then got into a Chevy vehicle and drove to the Duke and Duchess gas station. Police found the vehicle and cited the driver, Melissa Manley of Boardman, with drug possession.
– Anita Smith reported at 12:29 a.m. Saturday she was assaulted outside her Herbster Avenue home by a man she didn’t know. Police checked but did not find the man.
– Matthew Gillespie reported at 1:48 p.m. Sunday he was receiving harassing text messages from an ex-girlfriend.
– William Superak, Fairfield Avenue, reported at 6:28 p.m. Sunday someone entered his unlocked Jeep Cherokee while it was parked in his driveway and threw things around but apparently did not take anything.
– A woman reported at 6:50 p.m. Sunday a Jeep type vehicle was parked in the Dynamic Tire parking lot with the lights off and requested police stand by while employees left the building to get into their cars. Police found the driver of the vehicle was parked there waiting on another car to arrive and leave their car so he could transport them home.
– A West Park Avenue woman reported at 7:22 p.m. Sunday she was locked out of her home and needed to get inside to get her insulin. Police were able to get inside.
East Liverpool
– Marc Anthony, Erie Street, reported he returned from being out of town to find his home had been entered. Taken were several televisions, a laptop computer and a checkbook. Anthony told officers $400 was taken from his bank account.
Liverpool Township
– Officers responded Sunday morning to a dispute on Fox Chase Road, where they found George F. Stevens, 47, of that address, standing out front and could hear Donna K. McCune, 41, same address, yelling from inside. Stevens reportedly admitted he struck McCune during a dispute, cutting her lip, telling officers she had come to him in the basement and begun hitting him several times in the head before he struck back. Della Taylor, owner of the house, told officers the pair had been fighting for several days and that she had seen Stevens grab McCune by the throat and push her down. Both McCune and Stevens were charged with domestic violence.
St. Clair Township
– Jessica L. Morris, 37, Broadway, Wellsville, was charged Sunday with theft and resisting arrest after employees of Shoebilee reported she selected a pair of shoes, put them on and walked outside, where she hid the shoes underneath a Jeep then disappeared. The employee retrieved the shoes and told police Morris came back into the store a short time later and was confronted about them. She then purchased some shoes and left, entering the nearby Rue 21 store. When officers arrived, they were speaking with Morris outside Rue 21 when an employee of that store said she had also taken clothing from the dressing room. When told she was under arrest and to turn around to be handcuffed, she failed to comply despite several orders and began pulling away from officers, who had to take her to the ground to be handcuffed. They reported being able to see the clothing taken from Rue 21 underneath the clothing she was wearing during the struggle and said Morris admitted taking the clothing and shoes as well as other thefts from stores in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
– Responding to a 911 call about a man with a gun on Bell School Road Sunday, threatening to harm himself, officers arrived to find the man in the driveway with a family member holding a pistol. The man had threatened to shoot himself following a dispute with his wife over family issues but had not threatened anyone else, police reported. He was transported by North Star ambulance to East Liverpool City Hospital for evaluation.
– Robert G. Williams Louise Avenue, reported a bullet hole in his home, but investigating officers reported the hole appeared to have been made by a rock or large object.
– New tenants moving into a home at the Echo Dell Trailer Park reported the former tenant, known to them only as “Rocky,” came in the front door while they were moving items into the house. He said he was there to retrieve his belongings and pulled back a piece of paneling in the living room, removing a clear plastic bag containing an unknown substance and a wad of paper money. When told police were being called, he got into a vehicle and left. Officers were unable to locate him.
Wellsville
– Police were advised by dispatch at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25 to contact East Liverpool City Hospital in regard to a case of child abuse. A nurse said a Wellsville man reported bruises on his son after the boy’s mother returned the boy to the man. The man said the bruises-which were observed on the boy’s left shoulder, his knee and cheek, along with a scab on his inner thigh-weren’t there when the boy was dropped off three days before. The officer spoke with the nurses who were taking care of the boy, and said that the bruises didn’t appear to be from abuse but couldn’t say for sure. They stated that the bruises were in various stages and did not appear to be fresh. The nurse said she contacted Children’s Services.
– Police were called at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 26 to a Broadway house following a report of Gerard Bryant, aka ELO, entering an abandoned property and supposedly staying there. Officers located Bryant hiding in an upstairs closet. Bryant, who was advised by officers not to be at this particular location, said he was gathering up his belongings and was going to leave. An officer contacted the county sheriff’s office, which confirmed a warrant for Bryant’s arrest was issued, and Bryant was taken into custody without incident. An officer also observed Bryant eating something, which he said was a Fig Newton. The other Fig Newtons were found by an officer, who said he wanted to make sure that Bryant wasn’t swallowing anything potentially harmful.
– While on duty at 10:25 a.m. Oct. 23, police observed a white GMC SUV running the stop sign at the intersection of 17th Street and Clark Avenue. Officers pulled over Derrick Hall of Chicago, Ill., who said he did not have a valid driver’s license. An officer ran Hall’s ID, which determined that Steubenville police had a warrant for Hall’s arrest in which Hall was involved with drugs. Another officer and the K-9 unit were called to investigate, and although the K-9 unit hit on the backseat, no drugs were found. However, a 40-inch television set was found in the back of the vehicle, and Hall was found to have $980 in his possession following a pat-down in which he advised officers he had a colostomy bag as he had been shot. Both items were taken into evidence along with a jar containing money. Since the vehicle did not belong to Hall, he could not say where the television came from. The owner of the vehicle was asked to produce a receipt for the television which was still in the box, but the woman stated she could not. Hall was taken to a McDonald’s in Toronto, where Steubenville police arrived and took Hall into custody.
– Mary Lou Chase, Main Street, reported at 3:20 p.m. Nov. 4 she was walking on Third Street and Riverside Drive when she was approached by a white female she said she did not know-approximately 5-foot-5 and 150-pounds with dark hair-who said an obscenity toward Chase and shoved her in the chest as well as the left side of Chase’s lip. Chase retaliated by hitting the other woman between the eyes, knocking her to the ground. The assailant then got up and ran away. Chase did not seek medical attention and her lower lip was still bruised.
– Police were called at 1:23 a.m. Oct. 21 regarding a gray Chrysler PT Cruiser with Georgia license plates hitting a telephone pole on Commerce Street. Officers approached the vehicle and found the driver-Timothy R. Crowe, Lakeview Drive, Hanoverton- asleep at the wheel. Officers woke up Crowe and his passenger -Justin J. Davis, Eric Drive, Lisbon-who rolled down the windows, with an odor of marijuana detected. What remained of a blunt was seen in a driver’s side cup holder, in which Crowe admitted to smoking it. After running Crowe’s information, officers learned that Crowe’s license along with the registration-in which the vehicle was registered to Brittani S. Price of McDonough, Ga.-were both suspended. Crowe and Davis were taken to the police station, in which Crowe was cited for driving under suspension, failure to control, physical control, and possession of marijuana. Both men were taken to a relative of Crowe on 10th and Commerce streets.
– Police were called at 11:25 p.m. Oct. 24 to My Bar . Officers spoke to a group who said the fight was broken up and all was well. One officer checked at the rear of the bar and spoke with Brandon Speece, who was agitated, swearing and attempting to start another altercation with a patron. After refusing to follow several orders, Speece was cited for disorderly conduct.
– Dane Dysert, Main Street, reported at 1:50 p.m. Thursday that a man who claimed to be from the gas company came to his mother’s door last week and said he needed to go in the basement. Mr. Dysert said his mother, Marge Dysert, allowed the man in, and on his way out said that he “won’t need to do that again for two years.” Mr. Dysert then said a man returned again the other day and wanted back in the basement, to which the woman told him no and shut the door. Mrs. Dysert said the man was wearing a hard hat and a safety vest. The Dyserts were advised to call if the individuals return. Police, meanwhile, contacted the gas company, in which they said that they do not have anyone going door-to-door.

– Paul Szymanski, 49, Youngstown, was charged with OVI during an OVI checkpoint in Austintown worked by a Goshen officer at 11:54 p.m. Friday.
Washingtonville
– Police responded to the 800 block of Washington Street at 5:27 p.m. Oct. 20 for an uncontained fire.
– At 3:15 p.m. Oct. 20, police made a traffic stop on West Main near Davidson Avenue and the driver, who was driving on a permit, was in possession of marijuana.
– Police responded to Washington Street at p.m. Oct. 23 for a report report of a stray bullet damaging a window to a house.
– At 2:52 p.m. Oct. 23, police made a traffic stop on West Main Street near Walnut Street and found the driver was driving under suspension.
– At 6:39 p.m. Oct. 25, police made a traffic stop on West Main near Davidson Avenue and the driver was driving under suspension.
– Police responded to the 200 block of West Main Street at 7:59 p.m. Oct. 28 for a domestic dispute.
– At 8:17 p.m. Oct. 29, police responded to Union Street for a report of a theft.
– Police responded to the 300 block of High St. at 8:20 p.m. on Oct. 31 for a complaint of excessive amounts of trash.
Salem
– Courtney Cusick, 21, of East Chestnut Street, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after a four-vehicle chain reaction accident at 11:37 a.m. Monday on South Lincoln Avenue near Franklin. Cusick’s northbound vehicle struck the back of another northbound vehicle driven by Mark Kovalcik, 24, of state Route 39, Wellsville, which then struck a northbound vehicle driven by Auldin Shuman, 82, of Jefferson Avenue, Salem, in turn striking a northbound vehicle driven by William Geiling, 46, of state Route 558, Leetonia, who had been stopped waiting for the light to turn green. As he began to go when the light turned green, that’s when the collision occurred. A passenger in one of the vehicles reported being sore from the shoulder strap but refused medical attention. Cusick’s vehicle sustained heavy damage to the front end and was towed from the scene.
– A resident in the 200 block of West Fifth Street reported a possible breaking and entering attempt at 8:19 a.m. Monday, noting that someone attempted to open her window which caused items inside her residence to fall and break.
– A resident on Liberty Street in the 800 block reported at 7:14 a.m. Monday that juveniles at the bus stop were yelling profanities at passing cars. Officers made contact with the juveniles and told them to stop and to also stay out of the road.
– Gretchen Loudin, 84, of Deerfield, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign after a two-vehicle crash in the intersection of West Pershing Street and South Howard Avenue at 8:47 p.m. Sunday. Loudin was southbound on Howard, stopped at the stop sign and turned to proceed west, striking a vehicle driven by Erika Knopp, 36, of U.S. Route 62, Salem, who was already in the intersection traveling west on Pershing after already stopping at the stop sign and proceeding. Police found Loudin at fault. No injuries were reported.
– Officers spoke with two juveniles at the police station at 5:26 p.m. Sunday after the juveniles reported they had been dropped off at the skate center earlier in the day but had no way to get home due to a family member’s car breaking down. A cab company was contacted to obtain a price to get the juveniles home and the juveniles said they had enough money to pay the fare. The cab responded to take them home.
– An open burning complaint was reported at 5:16 p.m. Sunday on Woodland, with both fire and police responding. The woman said she was new to the area and did not know the laws regarding open burning. The fire department put out the fire and told her what she could and could not burn.
– Police were called back at 4:49 p.m. Sunday to the 500 block of Columbia Street for an eviction issue after already being there earlier at 4:22 p.m. The landlord responded to the apartment to tell the tenant he had to leave and officers returned. After some disagreement, the landlord finally accepted that he had to follow proper eviction procedures. Family members were told to stay away from each other if they couldn’t get along and the landlord was told to begin the eviction process. The tenant had called police earlier to say he was being kicked out without properly being evicted. He said the situation resulted when he had an argument with his stepfather who told him to get out.
– Police responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street for a report at 4:38 p.m. Sunday of two males shooting a BB gun in the back yard. Officers spoke to a woman who said it was her two juvenile sons. She was told it’s illegal to discharge a weapon within the city limits and she said it won’t happen again.
– Police spoke with two separate distraught people, one on Seventh Street at 12:30 p.m. Sunday and one on Walnut Street at 3:14 p.m. In both cases, police filled out emergency admissions and the people were transported to SRMC for evaluation.

– Brittany Eckman, Hoopes Road, Salem, told deputies and Sheriff Ray Stone, who also responded Saturday to her home, that her boyfriend would not let her come into the house and get her belongings because she forgot to pick up his vapors at the store. She wanted to retrieve her belongings and move out, according to reports. Her boyfriend allowed her to get her things and go, and both parties were advised this was a civil matter. Deputies stood by while Eckman gathered her things and left.
East Liverpool
– Officers reported seeing a truck believed to have been involved in an attempted theft at Walmart in Calcutta, and the plate on the truck was registered to a Chevy Beretta. The truck began to hastily pull out of the Giant Eagle parking lot just as officers saw a man being pursued across the lot by a loss prevention officer from the store. Officers pulled behind the truck, and the driver, Gregory A. Daugherty, 30, Washington Street, Newell, W.Va., exited, saying, “I’m not with that guy.” He was patted down and officers reported finding a capped syringe in his pocket, with other drug abuse evidence reportedly found inside the truck. Daugherty also had no driving privileges in West Virginia, they reported. He was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments.
– Marissa Collins, 28, West Seventh Street, was stopped in traffic at the intersection of St. Clair Avenue and Fisher Avenue when her vehicle was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Benjamin T. Gromley, 17, Applegate Road, Lisbon. Officers reported Gromley was distracted by clothing in his lap and he looked down. Gromley was cited for assured clear distance.
– Stacie L. Saracco, 25, 18th Street, Wellsville, was westbound on Pennsylvania Avenue when she reportedly looked into her purse, causing her vehicle to drift over, striking a parked vehicle. She was cited for failure to control.
Columbiana
– A caller reported a reckless driver Friday on state Route 7, saying it nearly rear-ended another vehicle. Officers were unable to locate it.
– Carol Kulka, Court Street, reported her daughter’s iPhone misplaced or stolen at the basketball game Friday.
– Reno Davis, no address listed, reported a dispute while serving an eviction notice on a tenant on Fitzpatrick. He wanted a report filed.
– Kelley Diamond, no address listed, reported being harassed by a man she knows and said she wants it stopped.
– Ean Charlton, no address listed, reported the washer door at the Laundromat would not open so he could get his clothes. Messages were left with the owner.
– An employee at the American Legion reported Friday morning recovering some property left behind which contained suspected marijuana. The contents will be destroyed.
– The family of a Pittsburgh Street man reported Friday morning they had been unable to contact him since Tuesday night. He was later found and was fine, police reported.
– A McDonald’s employee reported Friday evening a woman in her 30s was stumbling all over and go into a gold-colored car, going to the gas station.
– Officers responded Friday night to a report of a barking dog on Fairfield Avenue. They were unable to locate the owner but found a relative across the street who would take care of the dog.
– Several students advised officers Friday night of damage to the fence at the football field.
– A Burger King employee reported a vehicle came through the drive-through with a driver who was possibly intoxicated. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
Salem
– A suspicious person was reported at 5:53 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of East 11th Street, but police were unable to locate anyone.
– Police responded at 3:59 a.m. Sunday to a business security alarm in the 1400 block of Allen Road. Officers checked the building and a key holder responded.
– Stacy McCullough, of the 600 block of Jennings Avenue, reported a burglary at 3:24 a.m. Sunday. She told police she heard someone in her apartment and looked up from bed to see the shadow of an unknown intruder. Her purse was taken along with other valuable items. The burglary is under investigation.
– Daniel Eaton, 50, of 231 W. 10th St., was charged with domestic violence, processed and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to his residence for a domestic in progress at 10:57 p.m. Saturday. Police located the victim at a neighbor’s residence. She reported being in a verbal dispute with her husband which turned physical. Officers saw redness around her neck and an injury to her wrist. The husband was found in an upstairs bedroom of the house and taken into custody. Police had been to the same residence earlier at 8:58 p.m. for a domestic after the woman said they got into an argument over a television he pawned. Nothing physical occurred and both were told to separate for the night. She was told that the television was communal property and nothing could be done.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 10:01 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of East School Street. The vehicle in question was located parked in an unnamed alley. Upon checking the registration, officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Portage County. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
– Police were called at 9:34 p.m. Saturday to Walmart on East State Street for suspicious persons. Two female juveniles were walking around in the parking lot asking to use a cell phone to get a ride to Youngstown. Officers were told the two juveniles were runaways from a local group home. Officers located them and took them to the station to await someone from the group home. A member of the home responded and the juveniles were released into her care.
– An unknown problem was reported at 7:46 p.m. Saturday on East Pershing Street where dispatch reported OnStar called about someone pressing the emergency button on a vehicle in that area. Officers found the vehicle in question unoccupied in a parking lot. The owner was located inside a nearby business and said everything was fine. He said he must have accidentally pushed the wrong button.
– A man from Aetna Street came to the police station at 4:27 p.m. Saturday to report an ongoing problem with a known female harassing him via social media. He had changed his phone number due to harassing calls/texts and the person began sending messages via a social media web page. He has since blocked the ex-girlfriend but she is now sending messages through a family member’s account. He’s going to block all mutual contacts to try to prevent further harassment. He said the ex-girlfriend is allegedly making claims that he tried to hire someone to assault her. He said he stopped responding to all forms of alleged communication from the suspect and wants no further contact. An officer will attempt to contact her to advise of possible criminal charges that may result if the harassment does not stop.
– James McVay, 32, of 11489 Trinity Church Road, was taken into custody on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for larceny after a traffic stop on a vehicle with a defective exhaust at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of South Union Avenue. McVay was identified as one of the passengers and the warrant was discovered. The driver was given a verbal warning for the exhaust and was told they were free to leave. The officer received verbal consent to search the vehicle and while searching found a syringe and crack pipe with a hard white substance which will be tested to confirm an illegal substance. The discovery is under investigation with charges pending.
– An officer on patrol at 8:51 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of East Fifth Street noticed a condemned residence with the front door forced open. Other officers arrived on scene and the residence was checked with no one found inside. Housing & zoning was notified.
– A woman in the 200 block of Woodland reported Saturday that sometime during the night on Friday, someone took two outdoor tables and three chairs from her front porch.

East Liverpool
– Thomas Joy, 20, no address listed, made a 911 call to police, reporting finding a 40-year-old man hanging by the neck with an electrical cord from a staircase at a College Street residence. He said the man was unconscious and not breathing. Officers arrived to find the victim breathing and alert, lying on the stairs. He was transported by Tri-County ambulance to East Liverpool City Hospital. Joy was asked how he gained entry to the house, and he said the front door was standing wide open.
St. Clair Township
– Officers responded to 15519 Lois Lane for an unspecified juvenile problem.
Salem
– A stop sign was reported down at 6:03 a.m. Saturday at Granite Avenue and West Perry Street. An officer found the sign was run over. The sign department was notified to replace the sign.
– An officer on patrol at 1:22 a.m. Saturday saw a vehicle in the 400 block of Woodland Avenue with the dome light on and no occupants inside. The vehicle appeared to be secure. Contact with the owner was attempted, but unsuccessful.
– Police at 11:07 p.m. Friday checked on a residential alarm in the 900 block of Highland Avenue. The exterior was found secure.
– A well-being check was requested at 10:49 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Franklin. Officers knocked several times but were unable to make contact.
– Officers on patrol at 10:34 p.m. Friday located a junk/abandoned vehicle in the Butech lot on South Broadway Avenue. The vehicle was disabled and leaking fluids and wasn’t able to be safely parked. The vehicle was removed from the premises for safety reasons by Sinsley’s Towing. Officers located the vehicle owner and found him intoxicated. He was advised of possible charges if it’s found his vehicle struck anything.
– A well-being check was requested at 8:13 p.m. Friday for a residence in the 200 block of East Fifth Street. Officers recently had been to the residence on two occasions. Another agency had already been contacted regarding the residence and children. The female was not home during the well-being check.
– Police at 7:27 p.m. Friday were investigating a sexual abuse complaint. A detective was contacted and Children Services was made aware. The incident is under investigation.
-A woman in the 600 block of East Sixth Street reported at 4:57 p.m. Friday that her ex-boyfriend keeps calling and showing up at her residence uninvited.
– Police were called at 4:46 p.m. Friday for an accident without injuries at East School Street and East Sixth Street. The caller hung up and dispatch had very little information. Officers checked the area several times, but did not find an accident.
– Francine Burlingame, of the 500 block of Franklin, reported at 3:56 p.m. Friday that someone stole her iPad. She wasn’t sure if it was taken from her residence or whether she left it somewhere while shopping. Area pawn shops will be checked.
– A man from Vine Avenue reported at 2:58 p.m. Friday that he was receiving unwanted text messages and phone calls. He was told to block the phone number and stop all contact.
– A woman in the 900 block of West Wilson Street reported at 2:51 p.m. Friday that earlier in the morning a dog down the street west of their residence bit her 7-year-old daughter in the left ankle and broke the skin. The hospital took pictures prior to bandaging the wound. A relative also took pictures and talked with the dog owner. An officer spoke with the owner who said she was sleeping and the babysitter had just brought back the children when she got up and the dog went out the back door, running around to the front where a large group of children was playing in the yard, biting the girl on the ankle. The dog had its shots in February but was not licensed yet in Columbiana County. The owner was told to watch the dog in the next 10 days and that the officer would return to follow up on the licensing and other dog bite information.
– A parking complaint was reported at 11:55 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue where a female said she could not gain access to the driver’s side of her vehicle. The female’s vehicle was moved from the legal parking spot by another driver.

County Sheriff
– A resident of Depot Road, Lisbon, reported at 8:25 p.m. Thursday her 13-year-old son was missing after telling her he was going to a church function. The deputy located the youth at The Rock in Salem and was on the phone to the mother when the church van pulled into her parking lot with her son.
– A deputy was called to the 42000 block of Glasgow Road, Madison Township, in regard to a barking dog complaint at 5:28 p.m. Thursday. The deputy did not hear any barking but saw dogs in cages, and they began to bark as he approached them. They stopped when he left.
– Connie Dattilio, state Route 344, Columbiana reported Thursday afternoon a male in a silver Cougar was driving past her home, keeping an eye on her and her family, and he may have even opened her mail box.
Columbiana
– Cheryl Pendergast, Fairfield Avenue, reported at 9:59 a.m. Thursday her neighbor was blowing leaves into her yard. Police told her nothing could be done because it wasn’t against the law.
– A man reported at 1:48 p.m. Thursday there was a dog in a black neon in the Oakmont Plaza that was panting and the vehicle had been in the lot for about a half hour. Police checked and found the windows of the vehicle were partly down and there was enough airflow for the dog to be comfortable.
– Connie Dattilio, state Route 344, reported at 2:48 p.m. Thursday she believed mail and packages have been taken from her mailbox and was concerned about identity theft.
– A woman reported at 3 p.m. Thursday a man sitting on a tarp on West Salem Street appeared to be sick. Police checked but the man was no longer there.
– Terry Bowen, Columbiana-Lisbon Road, reported at 3:36 p.m. Thursday two people were in the area claiming to be Columbia Gas employees and were asking residents questions in the area of Southern Terrace Park. Police checked and found they were legitimate employees and they would get the proper solicitor’s permits.
– Thomas Belan Jr. requested at 4:54 p.m. Thursday police escort him to his place of employment at Vari-Wall so he could retrieve some property.
– Craig McBride reported at 4:57 p.m. Thursday he was raking leaves in his yard and a dog came into the yard and was challenging him. Police warned the dog’s owner, Glenn Grubb, for dogs at large.
– A man reported at 9:51 p.m. Thursday there were three dogs in a backyard of an Apache Lane home that had been barking for about a half hour. Police checked but did not hear any dogs barking.
Salem
– Police responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 2:22 p.m. Thursday where Brandon Shayne Welling reported someone overnight had stolen several tools out of the bed of his truck. Officers returned to the area at 7:46 p.m. the same day when Welling reported seeing two men walking around the area with flashlights, but one of the men was found to be a nearby resident who had permission from the landlord to show rental properties.
– An officer responded to the Fairview Avenue Extension for a report of cows in the roadway at 2:57 p.m. Thursday and found the animals in a field on Merle Road moving toward the woods. The officer advised Perry Township police.
– Officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 800 block of Jennings Avenue at 6:09 p.m. Thursday and found a verbal altercation regarding property had occurred.
– An officer responded to a domestic dispute in the 900 block of East Third Street at 7:26 p.m. Thursday and found a resident who said he had been letting a male friend stay at the home, but had a verbal altercation with him regarding his activities in the home. He said the other man had already left.
– Police responded to a 2200 block Southeast Boulevard home at 1:48 a.m. Friday where Bailey Elizabeth Sabatino reported someone had thrown a brick through her window kitchen. Officers searched the area but were unable to find anyone.
– Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at South Ellsworth Avenue and East Pershing Street at 8:23 a.m. Friday in which William Yeager, 82, Salem, was northbound and claimed that the driver of a semi truck had waved him through the intersection. Melinda K. Martin, 39, Salem, was eastbound and also pulled into the intersection, colliding with Yeager’s vehicle. No one was cited, but Yeager was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Perry Township
– Police charged a male juvenile with domestic violence after responded to a domestic dispute report in the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
– An officer responded to the 1100 block of Overlook Drive at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday in reference to possible gun shots fired. The officer patrolled the area and sat stationary for several minutes, but found nothing suspicious.
– Michael A. Eucker, 50, 1441 Buckeye Circle, Salem, was arrested at his home at 9:34 a.m. Thursday on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear for driving under suspension.
– Perry Township and Salem police were advised at 3:15 p.m. Thursday of loose cows in the area of Merle and Whinnery roads walking through yards and fields unattended. An officer contacted the animals’ owner, who said the two cows had gotten loose from a pasture on Cunningham Road. The owner escorted the cows back into the pasture.
– Police responded to a report of a woman yelling for assistance in the 400 block of West Pidgeon Road at 10:05 p.m. Thursday and found that the woman had been in a verbal altercation with a family member. Both individuals said there had been no physical violence and officers stood by while the woman called for a ride.
– Police responded to an apartment in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 4:05 a.m. Friday where the resident reported her ex-boyfriend was outside yelling and banging on the windows and doors. The suspect had left before officers’ arrival and officers were unable to find him.

County Sheriff
– Matthew S. Stanley, Hawkins Road, New Waterford, reported at 5:29 p.m. Wednesday his 16-year-old son was assaulted by his grandmother, Pamela Green. The boy called his father while hiding outside his grandmother’s house claiming she slapped him in the right ear and he fell leaving the house. The boy was taken by his father to St. Elizabeth’s Boardman Campus, and the hospital told him he may have a fractured tailbone, but his ear was not perforated despite complaining of constant ringing. Green, 59, Chain School Road, was charged with domestic violence.
– Nancy Tondy, Quay Road, Negley, reported at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday she found an open box of Decon rat poison at her pavilion where her grandchildren usually play.
– Cindy McGraw, Padgett Road, East Palestine, reported at 11:17 p.m. Wednesday she came home and found a man inside her house. When he saw her, he ran out the back door into the woods. She did not believe anything to be missing.
– Alex Converse, Hilltop Road, Lisbon, and his girlfriend, Theresa Baddeley, reported at 7:03 p.m. Wednesday a neighbor, John Earl, came over and yelled at them about taking and killing his cats. Converse and Baddeley denied taking or killing any cats. They reported Earl is in the process of moving and has not been there to take care of his cats in weeks. Earl claimed he stops by daily to feed the cats. Both were told to stay away from each other.
– Angela Strosnider, Second Street, Hanoverton, reported at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday, her ex-husband, Eric Cline, called and threatened to kill her if anything happened to his son. Strosnider had her daughter pick up her son for her at the Minerva police department where she usually exchanges her son with her ex.
Highway Patrol
– Lisa M. Cibula, 54, Bell Road, Lisbon, and Mindy S. Burt, 29, state Route 517, Columbiana, were northbound on Fairfield School Road in Fairfield Township at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday and Burt improperly passed Cibula as Cibula was making a left turn into a private drive and struck her vehicle. Burt was cited for improper passing.
– Geoffrey S. Magill, 47, State Street, Leetonia, was westbound on state Route 558 in Fairfield Township at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday and hit a deer.
Columbiana
– A woman reported at 10 a.m. Wednesday a man was on a riding mower on state Route 14 near ME Supply. Police checked but the man was no longer there.
– A woman reported at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday a customer at a salon on state Route 14 was drunk and left the business in a car headed eastbound on state Route 14 in a white silver Explorer with Pennsylvania plates. Police checked the area but did not find the vehicle.
– A man reported at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday he was behind two tanker trucks that were northbound on North Main Street and one was leaking a white fluid onto the road. Police found the vehicle and discovered it was coming from the water plant and the liquid was lime which was harmless. The driver corrected the problem by putting a seal on it.
– A woman reported at 2:51 p.m. Wednesday a large branch fell on Firestone Avenue and pulled down power lines was a nearby home. The electric department supervisor was notified.
– A woman reported at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday some boys were riding their bicycles in front of cars in the area of North Middle Street. Police checked but did not see the boys.
– Danielle Staats, 28, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Camelot Drive at 10:58 p.m. Wednesday.
East Palestine
– Nicole L. Leake, West North Avenue, reported at 6:22 p.m. Oct. 30 someone had hacked or stolen her bank card and was making unauthorized purchases.
– Police worked with the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office in serving an arrest warrant on Zachary Peterson of East Palestine on Hillcrest Circle at 11:21 p.m. Sunday. He was taken to the county jail.
– Sara C. Noling of East Palestine was cited for failure to reinstate her driver’s license following a traffic stop on Oct. 30 on West Taggart Street.
– James Smith, Claybrook Drive, reported at 2:41 p.m. Wednesday he heard shooting in the area behind his home, and he had the same problem during hunting season last year. Smith asked police about hunting regulations in the area and police said no one is permitted to discharge firearms or use archery equipment within village limits.
– Mary K. Bastia, Thomas Street, reported at noon Thursday she heard strange noises around her house several times over the past few weeks and about a week ago discovered that her vehicle’s rear side window was shattered.
Center Township
– Fay Gordon, 35121 state Route 172, reported Wednesday she was “mooned” by her neighbor. She also advised that there is an ongoing problem between she and the neighbors. Police spoke with both parties and advised them to leave each other alone.
– Police responded Wednesday to the 36000 block of Hunters Camp Road for a theft complaint. Police found that someone had entered vehicles during the night. The matter is under investigation.
– Andrea Belden called Tuesday to report being harassed by Kurt and Kyle Halloway. She advised that she has told them several times to leave her alone and they continue. She was advised of how to obtain a protection order and to call if there is any more harassment. Police attempted to make contact with Kurt and Kyle, but were unsuccessful.
– Police responded to Tuesday to Roseland Apartments in regard to a female threatening to harm herself. KLG Ambulance responded and transported the female to the hospital.
– The Center Township trustees requested on Tuesday that police respond to a residence on Trinity Church Road regarding a resident putting a culvert in and building a wall near the roadway. They were concerned it would block the view of other motorist. Police spoke with the home owner and advised him that he needed to obtain a permit for the culvert and speak with the trustees about the wall.
– Police responded Tuesday to 7031 St. Jacob-Logtown Road for a dog bite complaint. Barbara Hern advised that her dog had bit a female on a bicycle. The bite was reported to the health department.
East Liverpool
– Responding to a complaint about a wanted person staying at an apartment in the Woodland Hills complex, officers spoke with tenant Chasity Copeland. They said the odor of marijuana was coming from the apartment and her boyfriend, Nathaniel Coles, 24, gave them marijuana from inside the apartment. He was charged with possession of marijuana and served with a trespassing notice. A loaded handgun was also found inside the apartment.
– Sean and Melissa Logan, no address listed, reported being notified by a local financial institution about a loan application received using their identities from someone in Mansfield.
Liverpool Township
– Officers responded to LaCroft Avenue to the home of Amber M. Haney, 25, who said she and Kevin L. Reynolds, 41, Anderson Avenue, Wellsville, had been arguing over a missing wallet. Officers said she admitted they had been drinking, and they spoke with their 6-year-old son, who said his parents had been fighting and his mother went to where his dad was sleeping on the couch and punched him. The child said his dad pushed her away from him and his mother tripped over a baby seat. Reynolds’ mother had been called to pick up him and the child and she told police she found Haney lying on the bedroom floor, hitting her elbow on the floor and bed railing and trying to rip her shirt. Both Haney and Reynolds were charged with domestic violence.
Salem
– Police responded at 9:16 a.m. Thursday to the 800 block of East Fourth Street where a female said she and her live-in boyfriend live on Vine Avenue and had a dispute. Both refused to press charges. Police returned after her parents came while she collected her belongings.
– A woman on Southeast Boulevard reported at 8:15 a.m. Thursday that someone overnight damaged the windshield of her vehicle.
– Loud persons were reported at 4:42 a.m. Thursday in an alley near North Lincoln Avenue and East Fifth Street. Police located two females and a male who said they were being loud but they were leaving. They were told to be quiet in the future due to the hour of the day.
– An assault was reported at 2:14 a.m. Thursday in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Sixth Street, with an officer also advised the assault occurred in the 600 block of East Eighth Street. The female victim was located and said while visiting a male known to her, he threw a beer bottle at her and hit her in the face. Her hair was wet but officers could not observe any marks. She was told her options.
– Police met with a person at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday who was concerned for the well-being of a friend residing at an apartment in the 700 block of East Third Street. The friend had not shown up for church and would not come to the door. Nobody had seen him since last Thursday, but the person was able to talk to him through the door, although that was out of character. An officer made contact with the friend through the door but communication was cryptic and the officer believed there may be a medical problem. The landlord was contacted to respond to open the door and fire department first responders and an ambulance crew were summonded. Once inside, the officer noted it was immediately evident the friend was suffering some sort of medical problem. EMT took him to Salem Regional Medical Center and the residence was secured.
– Police were called at 8:34 p.m. Wednesday to Reilly Stadium for a report of several juveniles inside the stadium possibly causing a problem. Officers spoke to several people at the stadium who said there had been two juveniles with a parent inside the track area with bicycles. They had not been causing a problem and left before police arrived. Another person who arrived at the track reported that on Tuesday, juveniles with a bicycle were in the main stadium bleachers.
– An officer responded to the 300 block of West Pershing Street at 8 p.m. Wednesday to assist a Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was trying to find a sex offender who moved to the county but failed to register the new address within the time constraints required by law. The person was staying in the city, but now was living in the township on West Perry Street. The city officer met with a deputy and Perry Township officer. The person was located and told about the violation and the potential for charges, then given directions to the sheriff’s office and told to register the new address in the morning.
– A clerk at Smith Oil, East State Street, reported at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday that a male failed to pay for $14.02 worth of gasoline.
– Dale Merriman, 68, of Winona, reported at 6:59 p.m. Wednesday that he was southbound on South Howard Avenue passing through the intersection at East Pershing Street when his vehicle was struck by another vehicle which failed to stop for the stop sign and fled.
– Police were called to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday for dogs barking excessively and tied out in a way that allows them to defecate 10 feet into the neighbor’s yard. An officer made contact with the owner who was told about the laws regarding barking dog and defecating on another person’s property.The dogs were being taken inside for the night and the person said the other issue would be corrected.
– Joshua Butler, 32, of 13161 W. Pine Lake Road, was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control after the vehicle he was driving reportedly backed into Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Wednesday afternoon. Police had been called at 5:58 p.m. to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue for a report of an unresponsive male in a vehicle. The report said the male appeared to have overdosed, lost consciousness and backed into the building. Fire department first responders and EMT ambulance responded and the drug Narcan was administered, then the male became responsive and was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center and later cited. The building sustained no damage and there was only minor damage to the vehicle, which the owner retrieved.
POLICE
County Sheriff
– Edna Geer of Geer Realty reported at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday she was showing a home on state Route 164 and found someone had stolen the woodburner from the home. The residence was locked when she arrived.
– Heather Anderson, U.S. Route 30, East Rochester, reported at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday she believes her ex has been coming to her home and prowling around at night. Her dogs are being fed and things are being moved around in her back yard. She has seen a man there several times.
– Ron Corbin, Richardson Street, Negley, reported at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday he and his girlfriend got into an argument about an ex and she hit him. Deputies spoke to Brianna Beadoin, who said Corbin tried to take her phone and she accidentally hit him. He refused to prosecute and agreed to leave for the night.
– Bob Luketic, Sprucevale Road, Rogers, reported at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday sometime between 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. someone cut the locks on the boxes on his truck, taking several items. Luketic also reported earlier in the day he received a phone call from a lady, claiming to be from Ohio Edison, and requesting he leave the gate unlocked so they could access his property.
Highway Patrol
– Jessica L. Wise, 22, Shadyside, Ohio, was northbound on state Route 170 in Middleton Township at 1:25 p.m. Thursday and struck Barbara F. Hostetter, 49, East Park Avenue, Columbiana, who was also northbound and stopped for a tree branch in the road. Wise was cited for assured clear distance.
– Christina L. Ketchum, 29, Salineville Road, Salineville, was northwestbound on Y&O Road in Madison Township at noon Sunday and hit a deer.
– Denver W. Grabill, 20, Lower Elkton Road, Leetonia, was stopped a stop sign at the Lower Elkton Road and state Route 558 intersection at 7:15 a.m. Monday and while attempting to turn onto state Route 558 was struck by Tonia S. Duncan-Lydic, 38, West North Avenue, East Palestine, who was westbound on state Route 558. Grabill was cited for right of way and Duncan-Lydic was taken to the SRMC with serious injuries.
– Linsey M. Petersen, 29, Rollercoaster Road, Lisbon, was northbound on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 10:50 a.m. Monday and hit a deer.
– Arman J. Vennetti, 70, Poland, was northbound on state Route 11 in Fairfield Township at 6:53 p.m. Tuesday and hit a deer.
– Courtney Coleen Foor, 19, Teegarden Road, Salem, was southbound on McCracken Road in Salem Township at 11:45 a.m. Saturday and went off the right side into a tree. She was cited for failure to control.
– Rebecca E. Rupp, 22, Maple Street, Washingtonville, was southbound on Knox School Road in Knox Township at 11:55 a.m. Saturday and went off the left side into a railroad tie. She was cited for failure to control and failure to reinstate license.
– Nicola F. Pohl, 41, Timber Run Street, New Waterford, was eastbound on state Route 14 before becoming stopped in traffic near Kibler Road in Unity Township at 3:15 p.m. Monday and was struck from behind by Dorothy E. Kelty, 78, West North Avenue, East Palestine. Kelty was cited for assured clear distance.
– William L. Lloyd Jr., 29, Riffle Road, Rogers, was westbound on state Route 154 in Middleton Township at 3:40 p.m. Monday and went off the right side into a ditch and embankment and overturned. He was cited for failure to control, no operator’s license, hit skip and fictitious plates.
Lisbon
– Patricia Suits called at 1:34 p.m. Tuesday asking for an officer to accompany her while she retrieved property belonging to her aunt, Pauline Gauntt, who was moving from a residence on East Chestnut Street. The items had been placed on the porch, and Gauntt asked about some jewelry, and Glenn Libert produced some rings but said other items were stolen, which he had previously reported to police.
– Angie Libert, East Lincoln Way, reported Tuesday selling a car to Seth Robinson but he has to make any payments. Libert was advised this was a civil matter. She also said Robinson threatened her.
Columbiana
– Donald Lawrence, 82, Columbiana was northbound through the traffic circle at 10:32 a.m. Tuesday and Christina Villagomez, 29, Columbiana, was westbound through the circle from East Park Avenue and failed to yield to Lawrence who was already in the circle and struck his vehicle. Villagomez was cited for failure to yield.
– Matt Fullerton, no address listed, reported possible identity theft at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
– A woman reported at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday she heard a loud noise coming from the area of Spruce Street. Police checked the area and spoke with residents and was unable to determine what caused the sound.
East Palestine
– Logan Holisky, address not listed, reported at noon Monday she was assaulted by an ex-boyfriend. She did not wish to press charges.
– Police were called to the alley between East Main Street and Alice Street at 7:13 a.m. Tuesday for a report that a man was looking through trash cans. Police checked but did not find the man.
– Police were called to the West Street Bridge at 8:11 a.m. Tuesday to assist with a bus that was struck. Police controlled traffic until the maintenance person arrived to remove the bus.
– A Park Avenue man reported at 7:11 a.m. Tuesday he was having trouble with his juvenile foster child and that the boy is refusing to get out of bed in the morning for school and was being disrespectful. Police went to the home and found the boy still lying in bed and told him he was required by law to go to school.
– Carol Miller, state Route 170, Rogers, reported at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday she was approached by a man as she was leaving Sparkle Market on South Market Street and he handed her a paper and asked her to call the phone number on the paper to receive free items and she was wary because she believed it was a scam. Police attempted to find the man but he was no longer in the area.
East Liverpool
– Joyce A. Pugh, Michigan Street, reported a vehicle taken from her residence. The vehicle had keys in the glove compartment and was supposed to be picked up by a mechanic for work but the mechanic did not take the vehicle, she reported.
– Thomas C. Wells, 50, 8th Street, was cited Monday for no operator’s license and a stop sign violation after he reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of Anderson Boulevard and Parkway. His vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Mary L. Ammon, 59, Midway Lane, then went off the road, striking a fence owned by Frank Bosco. Ammon indicated to police she might transport herself to the hospital for possible injuries. Wells was not injured.
– While eastbound on West Ninth Street Wednesday, Michael T. Miller, 35, Wyoming Avenue, reportedly struck the rear-end of a parked vehicle owned by Ronald K. Hooper, West Ninth Street. Miller’s vehicle went underneath the body of Hooper’s pickup truck, pushing the truck over a hillside. Miller was cited for OVI.
Liverpool Township
– While checking his property on 5th Avenue near LaCroft Avenue, John Earich, 7th Avenue, found about eight cinder blocks smashed and trash thrown around the property. Earich also found someone had been hanging out in his tree stand, eating pizza, as evidenced by wrappers he found stuffed alongside the straps on the stand. Plastic lids he had attached to several trees to hold peanut butter for deer had also been melted. He asked for extra patrols of the area.
Jefferson County
– A Bergholz man was transported by medical helicopter to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where his condition wasn’t available, after shooting himself in the hand with a handgun at his home. The Steubenville Herald-Star quoted police reports stating that Chad A. Stewart, 25, of 276 Second St., told Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies he was unloading his gun when it accidentally fired. Deputies said the bullet appeared to have passed through Stewart’s palm and wrist, and alcohol wasn’t involved in the incident.
Leetonia
– Police are investigating a theft at a 300 block Columbia Street home on Sept. 24 in which someone stole a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun with two loaded clips and a 32-inch flat screen television still in the box. The homeowner also reported a missing check on Oct. 9 that had been cashed at Huntington Bank in Salem; the transaction was captured on video.
– Police responded to a Chestnut Street residence at 1:45 p.m. Oct. 22 where someone had smashed the windshields of multiple vehicles while the residents were away.
– Ryan Nicholas Nyardy, 35, Columbiana, was cited for failure to control after wrecking at the Columbia Street and state Route 344 intersection at 11:45 a.m. Monday. He was eastbound and became distracted, traveling off the road and shearing off a utility pole. Ohio Edison responded to remove the wires from the roadway, which was closed for nearly four hours. No injuries were reported.
Salem
– Cyndi Baronzzi Dickey of Southeast Boulevard reported at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday that she pulled into a drive in the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue and while backing up to turn around, her vehicle struck the arms on a dumpster in the parking lot. There was no damage to the dumpster.
– A woman on Meadow Lane reported Wednesday, a charge on her credit card was not her charge. She reported it to the bank and the card was canceled.
– A woman in the 1000 block of East Third Street reported at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday that a little boy had been on her front porch in the morning and knocked off the west end banister. The mother had been with him while they were waiting for the bus to pick them up. She said she’ll talk with the mother. She also asked who to contact about the school bus stop in front of her residence, saying parents sit on her porch smoking and leave their cigarette butts and trash from their coffee on and around her porch. She was told to contact the school bus garage.
– A caller at 3:41 a.m. Wednesday called police to the 100 block of Rose Avenue for a noise disturbance, saying it sounded like the tenant in another apartment was moving furniture and banging on the walls. Police heard no noise coming from the apartment. The tenant was contacted and told about the complaint.
– An alarm was reported at 1:26 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. The exterior of the building was checked and found secure. Another alarm went off at the same location at 2:55 a.m. with the exterior again found secure. A keyholder arrived and the interior was also checked.
– A woman in the 200 block of East Fifth Street called at 1:25 a.m. Wednesday to report a domestic, saying she was assaulted by her live-in boyfriend. He fled on foot and wasn’t located. She had visible injury to the right side of her neck, but declined medical treatment. Information will be sent to the prosecutor.
– An audible alarm was reported at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Second Street. The exterior of the business was locked and secure. Officers stood by until a keyholder arrived and checked the interior of the business, finding it secure.
– A wanted person was reported at 11:09 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of East Sixth Street. Bail enforcement was on the scene and entered the residence, recovering the person they wanted.
– An officer saw a suspicious person at 10:54 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Rose Avenue. The person was walking through parking lots and behind residences and was stopped and identified. The person was not wanted and had no outstanding warrants.
– A shoplifter was reported at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at Family Dollar, 239 W. State St., where store employees said a female had attempted to steal $3 worth of store merchandise. The female was identified and told that she’ll be receiving a summons in the mail from the court and given a court date regarding theft. She was not taken into custody or charged at the scene.
– A woman came to the police station at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday to report a juvenile acting out and not behaving. An officer spoke with the juvenile and advised of the consequences of his behavior.
– Anthony Rothacher, 24, of North Lincoln, was cited for improper backing after his southbound vehicle on Rose Avenue at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday backed into the front of another vehicle driven by Jillian Huddleston, 26, of Fair Avenue. Rothacher allegedly told police he noticed he needed gas and tried to back into Smith Oil and didn’t see the vehicle behind him.
– A shoplifter was reported at 6:06 p.m. Tuesday. Police attempted to locate the suspects and will be awaiting additional information from the business.
– Julia Johnston, 26, of Poland, was cited for failure to yield after pulling her vehicle from a private lot on East State Street at 6:03 p.m. Tuesday and striking a westbound vehicle driven by Donald Brandy, 46, of Homeworth.
– Police responded at 5:47 p.m. Tuesday to the 700 block of East Fifth for a complaint about a white SUV blocking an access drive. Officers saw that the vehicle was parked legally. Officers have receiving numerous com-plaints of illegally parked vehicles at the same location in recent weeks and have seen no violations. The caller has been advised repeatedly that the vehicles are not illegally parked and to refrain from calling the police when no parking violation has actually been seen.
POLICE
County Sheriff
– Diana Simmons, Circle Drive, Alliance, reported at 4:21 p.m. Monday she was online with her grandson and a screen came up on the computer alerting her of a virus. It gave her a toll free number to call and the person asked for her credit card number to fix the problem. The person was able to gain access to her computer and was moving the mouse around the screen. After thinking about it, Simmons decided it may be a scam and canceled her credit card. Now people are calling from a blocked phone number stating they need another card because the payment did not go through. Deputies told her it was possibly a scam and she should contact a computer tech to make certain nothing was installed on her computer when they had access.
– Ruthanne Altenhof, Mountz Road, Salem, reported at 3:04 p.m. Monday she parked her vehicle on Abbey Lane on Friday. About 2 p.m. Monday she learned someone had broken out the rear window of her Chrysler 200 and damaged the front window by striking it three times with an object.
– Tyler Sharpe, Steubenville, asked deputies to check on Karrie Sharpe, Brandon Drive, Wellsville, at 4:37 p.m. Sunday. Deputies did not find her at home and a dispatcher reached her by phone learning she was in Steubenville.
– Michael Knepp, Westville Lake Road, Beloit, reported at 8:04 a.m. Tuesday sometime overnight someone broke into his pickup truck and took about $30 in change and a Garmin GPS. The right side window of his 2014 Chevy Silverado was broken out. Other cars at the home were gone through, but none were damaged.
– Alex Bruderly, Westville Lake Road, Beloit, reported at 6:04 a.m. Tuesday two vehicles were ransacked at his home overnight. Both were unlocked and undamaged. Some tools were taken.
– Edward Bates, Bowman Road, Homeworth, reported at 6:01 a.m. Tuesday two of his vehicles were ransacked overnight, but the doors were unlocked and the vehicles were undamaged. Multiple items were taken including a cordless drill, a GPS, gloves and knives.
– Christine Harter, Homeworth Road, Homeworth, reported at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday someone broke into the garage and vehicles. Timothy Harter told deputies he found the garage window broken out and two vehicle inside ransacked. His daughters’ vehicles, both unlocked and in the driveway were also broken into. CDs, change and sunglasses were among items stolen.
– Lloyd Morris, Westville Lake Road, Beloit, reported at 4:22 a.m. Tuesday he and his two sons had their vehicles broken into sometime overnight. His one son, Jeremiah Morris, had the window smashed on his Honda Civic-227-XIR and an envelope with $200 was stolen. Morris’ stepson Lyle Day had the window of his 2009 Chevy Silverado smashed and his wallet stolen. None of the vehicle alarms went off, but one son did see a black Cadillac SUV driving slowly in the area near the neighbor’s home. The vehicle sped off when he came outside, but he does not know if it was connected.
– Jeff Vizzuso, Bowman Road, Homeworth, reported at 6:49 a.m. Tuesday someone broke into two vehicles overnight. The 2011 Chevy Cruze had a window broken out and a college book bag with books and equipment were stolen. A 1995 Ford Ranger was ransacked with miscellaneous tools taken.
– Terry Grove, Georgetown Road, Home-worth, reported at 6:56 a.m. Tuesday he found his 2014 Chevy Silverado with the window broken and with money and CDs taken.
– An unusual chemical smell reported by Swen Cope, Buck Road, at 12:04 a.m. Tuesday was investigated, but not located.
– Lela Feezle, state Route 14, East Palestine, reported at 11:21 a.m. Monday someone stole a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 truck from the lot sometime between 2 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Monday. The vehicle was driven from the front row to the rear of the lot and over an embankment, got stuck in the ditch for a short time and then was taken.
– Pat Kelley, Jackson Street, Kensington, reported at 9:07 p.m. Sunday she hear loud gun fire or explosions twice. Deputies checked the area, but did not hear anything.
– Ken Butts, Fife Coal Road, Wellsville, reported at 6:25 p.m. Monday sometime over the weekend a gun costing about $650 was stolen from his home. He and his son had left Friday to go hunting and his daughter had a Halloween party Saturday night.
– The highway patrol requested assistance handling a two vehicle accident with injuries on Georgetown Road at Knox School Road at 6:25 p.m. Monday. Kevin Thompson, North Canton, was traveling westbound on Georgetown Road, when Gina Schmidt of Sebring attempted to turn left from Georgetown Road onto Knox School Road. Schmidt reportedly turned into Thompson’s path and the vehicles collided. Thompson was taken to Mercy Medical Center and Schmidt was cited with failure to yield on a left turn.
– Wildlife officer Jesse Janosic reported at 11:28 p.m. Monday he was following a vehicle and saw someone spraypaint a bridge sign. Janosic stopped the vehicle and held them there until deputies could arrive. Corey Ozenghar, the driver, reportedly admitted to painting the sign. The passenger, Tiffany Potts, told deputies she did not get out or paint any signs. Potts called for a ride. Ozenghar was taken into custody. In the vehicle, deputies found three opened bottles of wine and a can of Rust-Oleum spraypaint. Ozenghar, 32, U.S. Route 30, Hanoverton, was charged with criminal mischief.
Lisbon
– Mark Palmer struck a light pole while turning around in the parking lot near the recycling dumpsters on Dickey Drive at 3:58 a.m. Oct. 28. Palmer said his view was obstructed by the heavy rainfall at the time. The van belonged to Denise Landfried.
Columbiana
– A man reported at 8:18 p.m. Monday there was a large amount of smoke in the area of Kingwood Drive. The fire department was notified and was unable to find where the smoke was coming from.
Salem
– Lucille Karnofel, of Shaker Court, reported at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday her vehicle was parked at the Memorial Building when another vehicle struck the left rear corner, damaging the bumper. Some reflector light assembly pieces were located from the other vehicle.
– Police were called at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday for a report of three boys wearing some type of costumes carrying golf clubs waving them and yelling at cars as they went by walking west toward South Broadway. Another officer talked to some people on Aetna who saw them go to the alley behind the Amvets. He spoke to three males who somewhat matched the description.
– Tonia Gerber, owner of the Power House Cafe, 530 S. Broadway, reported at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday three customers ran a tab on their credit cards and when the bartender finalized their bills at the end of the evening, the cards were discovered to be no good. She said she gave the customers time to pay their debt, but they have yet to do so.
– David Shivers, of the Historical Society, called Tuesday to report between 4 p.m. Oct. 11 and 5:30 a.m. Oct. 15, money came up missing from a deposit from the Dale Shaffer Library, 239 S. Lundy Ave., but showed up at the treasurer’s residence all intact. They wanted it re-ported since somehow some-one got inside and removed the money then returned the undisclosed amount.
– A resident in the 1700 block of Pearce Circle reported a case of identity theft at 8:14 a.m. Tuesday. A loan had been taken out in his name from Northcash Finance based in Montana. He received a letter in the mail with options to pay an overdue payment. He notified the bank to not transfer the money to this company, noting it appeared to be fraud and he needed a report filed.
– Officers responded to multiple railroad track crossings in the south end of the city at 2:21 a.m. Tuesday in an attempt to locate a truck reported parked near the railroad tracks. The truck was located at the Norfolk Southern railroad station on South Ellsworth Avenue and turned out to be a railroad company truck.
– An officer at 1:42 a.m. Tuesday saw various pieces of metal in the road at the intersection of East State Street and Southeast Boulevard. The officer removed the metal and disposed of it properly.
– A woman from Hanoverton came to the station at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday to report her concern over the smell of gas at her residence near Guilford Lake. She was given the contact information for her local fire department.
– Officers at 7:31 p.m. Monday saw an occupied vehicle parked at the dead-end of Butcher Road with no lights on. The occupants said they had been studying. They were told to find a better location to study.
– A caller in the 700 block of East Fifth Street reported at 7:08 p.m. Monday that a vehicle was parked in an illegal manner, but police responded and found no violation.
– An obstruction was reported in the road in the 1800 block of East State Street where police found people working on the hospital entrance at 6:24 p.m. Monday. The workers were told about the complaint.
– Police officers and firefighters already in the 900 block of Prospect Street noticed a large plume of black smoke to the northeast at 5:51 p.m. Monday. A resident was found in the 700 block of Sharp burning some prohibited material along with recently cut brush. The resident extinguished the fire with a garden hose and was given a warning about open burning. Police had been in the area at 5:38 p.m. Monday on West Wilson Street near Sharp and noticed a large amount of white smoke. The area was checked and a large pile of leaves was burning and smoldering in a back yard in the 900 block of Prospect Street. Nobody was home and the fire department extin-guished the leaves. An officer will follow up and issue a warning for open burning.
– Police were called at 4:39 p.m. Monday to Centennial Park for a report of several juveniles attempting to damage the playground. Police found two juveniles who said they were playing. They were sent on their way.
– Three Wellsville residents were each charged for their alleged involvement in a shoplifting incident at Walmart on East State Street at 4:59 p.m. Monday. Officers had been called to the scene and made contact with the suspects, recovering the stolen merchandise. All three were taken to the station, processed and taken to the county jail. Additional charges are pending further investigation. Karen Dicenzi, 21, of 1701 17th St., was charged with misdemeanor theft. Koty Claypool, 21, of the same address, was charged with a misdemeanor complicity to theft. Shawn Cunningham, 27, of the same address, was charged with misdemeanors of complicity to theft and obstructing official business.
East Liverpool
– A manager at Giant Eagle reported seeing a man sell drugs to another man inside the store. Officers spoke with the man, Eric McQueen, 24, no address listed, who denied the allegation, saying he “wasn’t stupid enough to sell dope inside a grocery store.” The woman with him also denied selling drugs but was found in possession of a long metal tube with a burnt end officers said is commonly used for smoking crack cocaine. It will be sent for testing, with charges likely to follow, they reported. McQueen was found to have an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody.
St. Clair Township
– A loss prevention officer at Walmart reported Ashley D. Markle, 31, Newell, W.Va., went through the self check-out and scanned some items but failed to scan or pay for others, valued at $57.70. When questioned by a police officer, Markle reportedly said the scanner kept freezing up and told him she had the money to pay for the unscanned items. The officer told her she should have told an employee about the problem with the scanner, and Markle told him there was an employee watching her while she scanned the items. When told she was under arrest for petty theft, Markle reportedly refused to turn around to be handcuffed, complaining about being arrested for $57 worth of goods. She eventually complied but complained to officers about having to walk through the store in handcuffs, according to reports, which indicated Markle was upset about going to jail for “Walmart junk.”
– Casey W. Lang, 24, no address listed, was charged with petty theft and possession of drug abuse instruments after reportedly taking $5.23 worth of items from Walmart without paying for them. When searched by an officer, Lang was reportedly found to have three syringes in his pocket and a bag containing seven green pills. He asked officers to retrieve his cell phone from his car, where they said a syringe filled with an unknown liquid was lying on the front seat.
– Two cars were reported by their owners splattered with eggs Sunday in the Walmart parking lot.
– A burglary was reported at a home on Longs Church Road.
Columbiana
– Firefighters were called to assist with a traffic crash on state Route 558 near Lower Elkton Road at 7:23 a.m. Monday. The highway patrol is handling the crash.

– Don Fugate, Margaret Lane, Alliance, reported Sunday his 2008 Ford F450, which belongs to Columbia Gas, was broken into overnight. Someone broke out the passenger side window, but nothing appeared to be missing.
– Wendy Pitts, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, reported at 3:33 p.m. Sunday her neighbor, Jacob Bell, was using profanity around her young grandchildren. She told him to “shut up” and he began to swear at her more. Deputies attempted to contact Bell, but were unable to reach him.
– Paul Mattern, Sprucevale Road, East Liverpool, reported at 3:50 p.m. Saturday he has been receiving unwanted photographs from an unknown number. Deputies told him to contact his cellular carrier and have the number blocked.
– A private property accident was reported at The Stagecoach Inn in North Georgetown at 4:13 p.m. Saturday. David Morris, no address listed, appeared heavily intoxicated and was sitting in a gold Chevy Equinox. Deputies conducted field sobriety tests and Morris nearly fell several times. He was cited with OVI.
– Jeany Dilling, state Route 7, Lisbon, reported at 4:53 p.m. Friday she was receiving unwanted text messages from Nicole Novak. Deputies contacted Novak and told her to stop.
– A Mattix Road mother asked deputies to help look at 12:47 a.m. Monday for her 16-year-old son, who recently left a suicide note and ran off. This time he reportedly climbed out of his window and they could not find him. Deputies and firefighters searched the woods and he was located with a knife and flashlight with four layers of socks on. He was lying down and not responding. He was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

– Michelle I. Bradway, 46, Lisbon Street, Leetonia, was southbound on state Route 11 in Madison Township at 7:39 p.m. Friday and hit a deer.
– Lisa L. Cox, 53, Camelot Drive, Columbiana, was westbound on Metz Road in Fairfield Township at 10 a.m. Friday and hit a deer.
Lisbon
– A caller reported there was someone hanging around the Home Savings Bank at 11:24 a.m. Saturday. Police arrived to find a state trooper at the location, and the trooper said he was flagged down by someone who said the person was being inappropriate in the parking lot. Police spoke with the female suspect, who was found drunk in the back seat of a vehicle. The driver stated she had just stopped at the bank before taking the backseat passenger home to Ganders Flat. The driver was told to take the passenger home or the passenger would be charged with public intoxication if she was found out again.
– Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 11:49 p.m. Saturday after a resident reported a neighbor stole his iPad, although he had no reason or evidence to suspect his neighbor was responsible. Police told the man to come to the police department the next day, after he sobers up, to give written statement.
– A caller reported a possible domestic dispute at the corner of West Lincoln Way and South Beaver Street at 7:32 p.m. Friday. Police found Brad Shannon and Willi McCullough, and Shannon said McCullough was being harassed by her ex-boyfriend while she was getting a tattoo at a place across the street. Shannon also said the ex-boyfriend shoved him before leaving.
– John Wallace, Gavers Road, Hanoverton, reportedly struck the rear bumper of a parked vehicle belonging to Nancy Hall of East Liverpool while trying to park outside the Steel Trolley Diner at 12:56 p.m. Friday.
– Police were called to the Valley View convenience store in regard to a vehicle on fire at the gas pumps at 2:06 p.m. Oct. 3. The fire had already been extinguished and the vehicle pushed to the side, and the driver was waiting for his brother-in-law to arrive.
– Police responded to a fight at the corner of East Chestnut and Vine at 12:32 a.m. Oct. 16 and found Paul Meyers and Kevin and Adam Dopp on a front porch. The parties said there was no fight but there was an argument when an intoxicated Adam Dopp tried to leave the house, but he went back in the house. All parties were advised to keep the noise down.
– Lisa Carter reported Saturday receiving harassing text messages from her estranged husband.
– Deborah Greiner reported Saturday being involved in an altercation with Edyth Devine at the Night Court earlier in the week and now Devine was harassing her on Facebook.
– Randy Dean reported Saturday his family was being harassed via electronic means by a cousin and the cousin’s daughter for control over his mother’s medical decisions. Police contacted the cousin and told her to cease harassing them or Dean could file charges against them.
Columbiana
– Police checked on a suspicious vehicle parked in Firestone Park at 12:35 a.m. Sunday. It was found the vehicle was there as part of a school function and there were no problems.
– The highway patrol reported at 2:27 p.m. Sunday there was a reckless driver westbound on state Route 14. Police looked for the vehicle but it was not found.
– A woman reported at 7:16 p.m. Sunday there was a suspicious man near the entrance to Old Saybrook and he had been standing there and walking around for about a half hour. Police checked but did not see the man.
Goshen Police District
– Jerel D. Cutlip, 40, 13365 Main St., Beloit, was arrested at his home on an active warrant at 2:40 p.m. Friday.
– Jacob E. Andrews, 36, 186 S. Howard Ave., Salem, was arrested at his place of employment in the 500 block of East State Street at 4:20 p.m. Friday on an active warrant.
– John S. Mason, 28, 156 W. Middletown Road, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension and loud exhaust following a traffic stop at state Routes 45 and 165 at 9 p.m. Friday in which his girlfriend said that she owned the vehicle and that Mason was driving because she was pregnant and sick. The girlfriend declined medical attention and drove the remainder of the way to the SRMC, escorted by the officer.
East Liverpool
– Officers were dispatched Saturday to Vine Street for an overdose, where they found Erin Porter performing CPR on Joseph W. Caughey, 32, Louisiana Avenue, Chester, W.Va. Porter told officers Caughey came to her home and asked to use her phone then went into her bathroom. He came out with a needle and Q-tip in his hand, she told officers. A Tri-County ambulance medic administered Narcan and Caughey revived in a couple of minutes, according to reports. The medic told officers he had dealt with Caughey on two previous overdoses in Hancock County, W.Va. Caughey was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and was also found to have an outstanding warrant.
Salem
– A dog was reported at large in the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 12:40 p.m. Monday. An officer located the dog and stood by until a family member arrived and took it home.
– A man from the 400 block of Franklin reported at 12:15 p.m. Monday that he and his wife separated and she moved out in July, leaving behind their 1-year-old and 2-year-old sons. He’s been caring for them. She moved to an unknown location in Alliance and now he said she’s been calling and harassing him and threatening that her boyfriend wants to fight him and she’s threatening to take the kids. He was told a court needed to decide custody of the children. He wanted the harassment documented in case she and her boyfriend show up at his residence.
– A person was asked to be removed at 12:12 p.m. Monday from a South Lincoln Avenue property in the 200 block, but was already in the process of leaving when officers arrived.
– A debit card was turned over to police at 11:05 a.m. Monday. Attempts were being made to call the owner.
– Stacey Butcher, 41, of Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield after she pulled her vehicle from a municipal lot in the 400 block of East Pershing Street at 9:02 a.m. Monday and struck a northbound vehicle driven by Robert Yuhanick, 64, of Carriage Hill Drive. Butcher told police her windows were somewhat foggy and she did not see the other vehicle on the street.
– A woman in the 900 block of South Avenue reported an alleged prowler at 11:29 p.m. Sunday, but nobody was found.
– Adalee Moore, 23, of High Street, Washingtonville, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 11 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
– A barking dog was reported at 9:36 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Jennings Avenue, but was not found.
– A woman in the 400 block of South Union Avenue reported at 9:30 p.m. Sunday that she let her roommate use her vehicle and now the person is refusing to return it. She was told her options.
– Police were called at 8:24 p.m. Sunday to Salem Regional Medical Center emergency department to assist hospital staff in identifying a Latino patient. An interpreter was already on the scene and assisted an officer in obtaining the 17-year-old boy’s identity. The interpreter had already contacted a relative of the boy and arranged for transportation for the relative to the hospital to pick the boy up. A copy of the incident will be sent to Children Services.
– A woman in the 900 block of West Wilson Street reported at 8:04 p.m. Sunday that a known male grabbed her head/upper face during a verbal altercation. He had already left after the woman called police. The incident will be sent to the prosecutor.
– Suspicious people were reported at 7:07 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Vine Avenue after a woman said she was pulling into her drive and saw two people on her front porch with flashlights. Officers made contact and the people said their daughter lost her iPhone at school and they were using the FindMyiPhone App. The app said the phone was in an area near the residence, in the back yard and garage area. Officers told the woman what the people said and why they were there.
– A domestic was reported at 6:45 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of West Wilson Street. The matter was found to be a civil situation.
– An ATV was reported on the road in the area of Bentley Drive and Cunningham at 3:18 p.m. Sunday, but was not found.
– A woman in the 500 block of East Fourth Street reported at 12:46 p.m. Sunday that her ex-husband’s fiancee continues to message her. Officers spoke with the fiancee and she said the woman won’t leave her alone. Due to a child being involved, they can’t cease contact. A debit card was also recovered.
Perry Township
– A runaway juvenile was reported at 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Somerset Drive.
– Police responded at 5:39 p.m. Sunday to the 1500 block of Jackson Avenue for a dog bite, with a homeowner reporting his dog was bitten by the neighbor’s dog around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The neighbor told police they were aware of the situation. Police will be contacting the dog warden.
– A Lisbon man reported at 1:46 p.m. Sunday that someone punctured two tires on his vehicle while it was parked at apartments on West Perry while the vehicle was being used by a friend for transportation.
– Gregory Dennison, 29, of Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance after the vehicle he was driving on East Pidgeon Road near Canterbury Lane failed to stop and struck the rear of another westbound vehicle driven by Jessica Marks, 32, of Deerfield, who had stopped for traffic ahead turning into Canterbury Lane at 12:37 p.m. Sunday. Marks was cited for expired registration. No injuries were reported.
– Police checked on four juveniles after receiving calls at 9:24 a.m. Sunday of suspicious juveniles walking in the 900 to 1000 block of Georgetown Road. Officers located the juveniles at a residence in the 1000 block and took them to a parent’s address in Perry Township. All four were released to the parent of two of the juveniles.
– A reported missing juvenile was found behind a business in the area of Pembrooke Estates at 8:33 a.m. Sunday. The juvenile was returned to the foster parent. The 15-year-old had been reported missing at 11:57 p.m. Saturday from a Somerset Drive residence.
– An officer on patrol at 7:56 a.m. Sunday found a small tree had fallen across one lane of Egypt Road. The tree was pushed to the side.
– A woman on West Perry Street reported at 11:08 p.m. Saturday that her 13-year-old son had run away. At 4:43 a.m. Saturday, she had reported that he stole her purse and cell phone, which were recovered but with the cash and a card missing. The juvenile admitted taking the items but was unsure about the location of the missing card. He’s on probation and the mother was going to tell his probation officer.
– Police helped block traffic at 8:51 p.m. Friday after a structure fire on Prospect Street Extension from earlier in the week rekindled. Perry Township, Salem and Damascus fire departments responded. A woman on Prospect Street Extension reported at 8:35 a.m. Friday that someone was pounding on her door, but no one was there. Police didn’t locate anyone. Possibly someone from the neighborhood was attempting to warn them about the house next door reigniting, the report said.
– Township police located a vehicle parked in a parking lot on West Perry Street at 10:35 a.m. Friday and notified Salem Police. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Salem. The owner was contacted to retrieve it.
– Robert Jacob Daugherty, 23, of 1143 W. Perry St., was taken into custody on a warrant at 10:44 a.m. Friday for failure to appear. The arrest occurred while police were on West Perry Street for a recovered stolen vehicle report. Daugherty was handed over to a deputy.
Lisbon
– The department was called to Pine Hollow Road off Route 7 in Elkrun Township at 10:49 a.m. Monday in regard to a smoldering bale of hay. The bale was near a well pad and the fire was extinguished without incident, and officials have no idea what was the cause.

– Lisa Smith, Margaret Lane, Alliance, reported at 7:25 a.m. Sunday someone entered her unlocked vehicles overnight taking miscellaneous tools, a digital camera and $15 in lottery tickets.
– Richard Harris, Margaret Lane, Alliance, reported at 7:28 a.m. Sunday someone entered two vehicles in his driveway and things were rifled through, but nothing appeared missing. A 2014 Jeep Cherokee had the passenger side window broke out.
– Rebecca Myers, Buck Road, Alliance, reported at 8:50 a.m. Sunday someone broke into her vehicles overnight. Two vehicles had the windows broken out and the other was left unlocked and there was no damage. Her son’s vehicle had the passenger side window broken out and the radio stolen from the dash. Her husband’s 2013 Chevy Silverado, a company truck, had the passenger side window broken out and $500 taken along with a GPS. Her Ford F-150 pickup was entered and a tray was taken from the console containing about $20 in loose change.
– Janet Hendricks, Bon Drive, Homeworth, reported at 9:26 a.m. Sunday someone entered two vehicles, a 2007 Chevy Silverado and a 2007 Buick Lacrosse, overnight, taking an unknown amount of loose change. The vehicles were undamaged.
– Marti Alazaus, Abbey Lane, Alliance, reported her son’s friend, Blake Glista, stayed overnight and in the morning, Glista found someone entered his unlocked Jeep Cherokee and stole an after-market radio out of the dash.
– John Gfeller, West Pershing Street, Salem, reported at 2:38 p.m. Sunday someone stole a tree stand and game camera from the property adjoining 1641 Columbiana-Lisbon Road. The tree stand was a Muddy Sky Box ladder stand valued at $300 and the camera was a tan and black Moultrie 55I worth $89.
Highway Patrol
– Terry A. Metzger, 43, Stump Road, Minerva, was westbound on state Route 172 in West Township at 10:52 a.m. Friday when Jodi L. Haney, 45, Canton, going eastbound, attempted to pass a semi truck in front of her driven by Dean H. Simms Jr., 46, Latrobe, Pa. Haney’s 2004 Mitsubishi struck Metzger’s Sierra K1500 head-on. Haney’s vehicle was then struck by the trailer of Simms’s truck, which is owned by Shumar Trucking. Metzger was taken to Aultman Hospital with minor injuries, and Haney was taken to Mercy Medical Center with more serious injuries. Both were transported by Sandy Creek Ambulance. Haney was cited with driving left of center.
– Shelby B. Blakeman, 62, Youngstown, driving a semi truck owned by Jasar Recycling of East Palestine was attempting to make a right turn from state Route 14 in Unity Township onto Hunston Drive at 1:32 p.m. Friday and swung out wide to make the turn. Elizabeth A. Bowles, 54, West North Avenue, East Palestine, went to the right of Blakeman also to make a right turn onto Hunston Drive. Bowles’ Nissan Altima was struck by Blakeman. No citations were issued and no one was injured.
– Tia J. Miller, 54, Maple Hill Road, Salineville, was on state Route 164 in Center Township at 7:30 a.m. Thursday when she struck a deer.
– Gregory R. Carver, 59, Homeworth Road, Homeworth, was driving an ODOT F-series 4×4 truck northbound on state Route 45 in Salem Township when he struck a deer at 7:55 a.m. Friday. Carver was parked partially on the road with the overhead yellow hazard lights activated and was outside the truck removing the deer from the roadway, when Jerry L. Young, 58, Pearl Street, Leetonia, attempted to pass the truck and struck the exterior mirror with his mirror on his Chevy Silverado K2500. Young was cited with improper passing.
– Bridgett N. Soliday, 19, Mardis Road, Kensington, was on Campbell Road in Hanover Township at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when she struck a deer.
– Nikki Lynn Winters, 31, North Vine Street, Lisbon, was northbound on state Route 7 in Madison Township at 9:50 p.m. Friday when she struck a deer.
– Donald J. Marinkovich, 53, Leavittsburg, was southbound on state Route 11 in Madison Township at 5:09 a.m. Saturday when he struck and killed a deer.
– Edward N. Reidy Sr., 59, Padgett Road, East Palestine, was westbound on state Route 154 in Middleton Township at 10:50 a.m. Saturday when he struck and killed a deer.
– Kenneth R. Reynolds, 42, Spaite Drive, East Palestine, was backing out of a driveway and attempting to turn north onto state Route 45 in Center Township when he struck a northbound vehicle driven by Emma D. Vankirk, 77, Cortland. No injuries were reported. Reynolds was cited with improper backing.
– Ross D. Ferguson, 54, Morris Road, Lisbon, driving a Ford Club Wagon belonging to the Community Action Agency of Columbiana County struck and killed a deer on state Route 164 in Center Township at 7:10 a.m. Thursday. There were no passengers or injuries.

– A elderly North Pearl Avenue woman reported at 5:38 p.m. Saturday she received a phone call from an unknown person claiming to be from the CCJ. She hung up.
– Police helped someone on Hawkins Lane find an open window when they were locked out of their home at 6:10 p.m. Saturday.
– Sparkle reported at 7:19 p.m. Saturday a man and woman stole a partially loaded buggy of meat from the cooler of the meat department.
– A woman reported at 9:39 p.m. Saturday she was following a possibly drunk driver in a dark red Toyota westbound on state Route 14 and then northbound on state Route 164. The driver was reportedly jerking within the lane and going off the right side of the roadway. A patrolman followed the vehicle, but did not see any violations before they left city limits.
– Anthony Gipson, Shreveport, La., and Amy Falk, East Palestine, were both turning westbound into the Village Plaza at 12:15 p.m. Oct. 18 when Falk struck Gipson from behind and was lodged underneath the trailer on the back of Gipson’s vehicle. Falk was cited with assured clear distance.
– Barbara Kiehl, Rogers, turned eastbound onto state Route 14 from McDonald’s at 1:44 p.m. Thursday. Elaine Yoder, Columbiana, was waved by stopped traffic to also make an eastbound turn onto state Route 14 from the Dutch Village Inn. Yoder did not see Kiehl and struck the side of her vehicle. Yoder was cited with failure to yield from a private driveway.
– Timothy Gallo, Youngstown, was in the traffic circle heading westbound on West Park at 1:37 p.m. Wednesday while JoAnn Doughty, Poland, was heading southbound on North Main Street and failed to yield to the traffic in the circle. Doughty struck Gallo and was cited for failure to yield at the stop sign.
– Michael Frattaroli, Youngstown, was eastbound on state Route 14 at 11:51 a.m. Thursday and began slowing in traffic due to an audible siren. Michael DeMarco, Canfield, was in front of Frattaroli and also slowing for the siren. Frattaroli told police his foot slipped off the brake pedal and onto the accelerator, causing him to strike DeMarco from behind. Frattaroli was cited with assured clear distance.
East Palestine
– Catherine S. Taucher, East Main Street, reported at Oct. 24 that sometime during the week someone burglarized her home while she was away and stole numerous items. The matter is under investigation.
Salem
– Police responded to the 200 block of Penn Avenue at 12:39 a.m. for a report of an intoxicated driver. The complainant advised they went to jump start a person’s vehicle and the person seemed to be very intoxicated. The vehicle was started before the complainant’s arrival and the complainant offered the person a ride home but he got into the vehicle and started driving toward Franklin Avenue. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
– At 12:48 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge to assist Perry Township police on a missing juvenile complaint and stood by as they investigated.
– Police responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 1:53 a.m. Sunday for a report of an assault on North Ellsworth Avenue near Fourth Street. The victim said he was walking down the sidewalk when an unknown person struck him from behind on the head. Police advised him to call if he got any information about the incident.
– At 1:51 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1800 block of East State Street for an intoxicated driver report. Police located the vehicle in the 1100 block of East State Street and notified the driver, who was not intoxicated, of the complaint.
– Police responded to the 500 block of Aetna Street at 8:54 p.m. Saturday to check on the well being of two young juveniles who appeared to be OK. Police detected an odor of marijuana and the report will be forwarded to children services.
– At 6:18 p.m. Saturday, a Columbia Street woman reported her son’s name had been on a list on the front door of a business in the 500 block of East State as a shoplifter. She said he was a juvenile and wanted to know if police had a report of him stealing anything. There was nothing on file. The woman the business took the list down but she wanted a report on file.
– At 6:24 p.m. Saturday, police responded to Union Avenue and Third Street after an employee of the AAA called about towing a vehicle with heavy damage. The driver said she was in an accident in Lisbon on Wednesday morning and had not driven the vehicle since and it broke down Saturday. Police ran a check through LEADs and her licensed was suspended and police cited Denise E. Landfried, 521 Walnut St., for driving under suspension.
– At 7:26 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of E. 5th Street and while en route for a missing juvenile report they passed a juvenile that looked like the missing person and found that it was. The juvenile was transported to their residence.
– A complainant was on station at 7:27 p.m. Saturday who reported that his daughter was walking in the area of S. Union Avenue and Oak Street when her ex-boyfriend started chasing her and calling her names. The complainant wanted to get a restraining order and he was advised to contact the Columbiana County Court and the juvenile court since they are both juveniles. Police spoke to the male juvenile and he stated he did not chase his ex-girlfriend but did see her earlier in the evening. He was advised to stay away and have no contact with her.
– At 8:40 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 600 block of South Union where the complainant advised her ex-husband wouldn’t leave the house that he did not live at. He said he stopped to see his kids and got into an argument with the woman. He was advised to contact the courts about visitation with his children. The complainant advised she had sole custody and just wanted him to leave. She was advised to contact the police if he returned.
– At 8:54 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 400 block of Sharp Avenue where a white dog was at the complainant’s house growling at them as they were having a small cookout. The dog fled up the alley and police were unable to locate it.
– At 10:56 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of Park Avenue where the complainant advised that two people in a green Blazer threw something at her house and drove off. Police were unable to find any objects or locate the vehicle.
– At 11:27 a.m. Saturday, police on a call in the 200 block of Rose Avenue were advised a Cleveland Browns’ flag was taken down from an unknown location and left sitting next to a residence. Police placed the flag in the department lost and found.
– At 10:49 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue for a report that someone threw a cement block onto the complainant’s windshield overnight.
– Police responded to the gas station in the 900 block of East State Street at 10:02 a.m. Saturday where the manager advised a couple was in the store and attempted to use a new $50 bill that the pen test showed as fraudulent. The couple said they just got the money from a local bank and an officer went with them to the bank where the manager advised it appeared to real and she would handle it with the couple and send the bill in to their people to be checked.
– Police responded to the 600 block of East Fifth Street at 8:46 a.m. Saturday where a bike was recovered from the front lawn. It was taken to the police department.
– Police responded to the 700 block of East Seven at 8:41 a.m. Saturday, where the complainant advised a brick had been thrown through her driver’s side window on her truck parked on the side of the residence. Then a brick was use to break the outer pane of a double-pane of a 4-by-4 foot living room window. Photos were taken.
POLICE
County Sheriff
– While attempting to confirm a registered sex offender on Haiti Road, Salineville, at 12:58 p.m. Thursday, Sheriff Ray Stone, Deputy Caleb Wycoff and two U.S. Marshal agents identified as Danks and Shack, were charged aggressively by a white and tan pitbull, which came sprinting in their direction. Wycoff and Shack both deployed their tazers striking the dog. After the tazer cycle, the dog jumped up and ran toward the house.
– Jamie Snay, Second Street, Hanoverton, reported at 3:02 p.m. Friday someone broke into his garage. The padlock was broken off, but nothing was missing. Snay also reported there has been a car driving fast up and down the street with some teens in the car. They stopped and threatened to shoot up the house before doing a burn out in the roadway.
Highway Patrol
-Michael A. Kohmann, 30, Overlook Drive, Alliance, was on U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township at 5:48 a.m. Thursday when he struck and killed a deer.
-Mark S. Williams, 44, Pleasant View Drive, Lisbon, was northbound on state Route 45 in Salem Township at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday while James Poffenberger, 88, McCracken Road, Salem, was eastbound on McCracken Road. Poffenberger reportedly pulled from the stop sign and struck Williams. No injuries were reported and Poffenberger was cited with failed to yield.
Lisbon
– An alarm at the Columbiana County Municipal Court at 11:07 p.m. Wednesday was found to have been set off by the cleaning crew.
– Leslie Arter, West Pine Street, Lisbon, reported at 7:47 p.m. Thursday someone pulled one of her Halloween decorations out of the ground. It had been held in by five spikes and she believed they worked really hard to get it out.
East Palestine
– Police stopped Melissa Marie Downey, no address listed, at 1:34 a.m. Saturday and cited her with driving under the influence of drugs and left of center.
Columbiana
– Brenda Melott of Columbiana asked police to stand by while she retrieved some property from a North Cross Street address at 10:29 a.m. Friday and again at 3:34 p.m. Friday.
– After repossessing a vehicle, the driver reported at 12:03 p.m. Friday he found a small baggie of what appeared to be marijuana. The bag was turned over to police and destroyed.
– Danny Lockard of Columbiana reported leaves in the roadway at 3:46 p.m. Friday. Police did not find enough leaves to be in violation.
Salem
– Police responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:57 p.m. for a report of large fight in progress. Upon arrival the people involved were gone and two went to the hospital where one was treated and one refused treatment. Photos were taken of the injuries and one person wanted to pursue charges and the other did not. Information was obtained and written statements from a woman and two men were taken. Both the injured people were advised to respond to the police department when they could provide statements. The incident remains under investigation with charges pending.
– At 12:38 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of Jennings Avenue where the complainant said a known man stole his Sony Playstation 3 from the residence in the past hour. Information was obtained.
– At 1:37 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue and served an outstanding warrant on John S. Mehno, 549 N. Ellsworth Ave., for indecent exposure out of Columbiana County.
– Police responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:47 a.m. Saturday and the complainant heard her door rattle and suspected there might be a prowler. Police checked and there was no one around.
– At 3:15 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 500 block of S. Broadway Ave. for a report of an intoxicated man lying beside his car. He was awakened and a cab transported him home.
– At 5:06 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 600 block of Olive Street for a report of ATVs on the road and spoke with the people who denied being on the street or private property.
– Police responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street at 10:26 p.m. Friday where the complainant advised a window was broken by a person known to him. He was advised to contact police when he arrived home.
– At 10:03 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue where the complainant advised an unknown person had thrown paint onto the side of his vehicle and garage door. Police advised the caller of the options.
– Police responded to the 300 block of Ohio Avenue at 9:11 p.m. Friday for a report of a person throwing objects into the stadium. Police located a group throwing a bottle back and forth.
– At 8:33 p.m. Friday, police responded to the West Pershing Street railroad crossing for a report of the gate malfunctioning. A train had broken down and police directed traffic until it was fixed.
