Buckeye Water District adopts policy for water loss due to apparatus failure

WELLSVILLE — The Buckeye Water District (BWD) Board of Trustees recently adopted a policy for water loss due to an apparatus failure. The policy was a result of issues with the operation of the Mueller Meter Pitt Apparatus which could result in the meter registering excessive usage for water that passes through that meter and leaks on the customer side. The policy will determine how water usage charges will be calculated during the billing cycle. Leetonia approves purchase of new truck for the police department

LEETONIA — Village council approved the purchase of a new vehicle for the police department in its recent meeting. Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado for the police department from Asia Motor Inc. Police Chief Allen Haueter said the Silverado would cost $54,000 and come fully outfitted for service. Council also unanimously authorized the installation of automated load systems for the EMS department’s power cots in both of its ambulances by Myers Equipment Corporation in Canfield at a cost not to exceed $8,000. ...

Man accused of killing pregnant girlfriend appointed new counsel

LISBON — The man accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend after allegedly running her over last year in East Liverpool has new appointed counsel after his hired attorneys withdrew and he was declared indigent. Cameron Martin, 20, Minerva Street, East Liverpool, appeared for a motion hearing in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court before Judge Megan Bickerton on Monday.
