Liverpool Township PD receives grant for vests
LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — The Liverpool Township Police Department has received a grant for new vests for officers.
Police Chief Jarod Kinemond said in his report to the trustees Tuesday that the department received the grant for the approximately $11,000 purchase. The grant is for $8,000, with a 25% township match.
Kinemond also told the trustees that Officer Coltan Vollnogle has submitted his resignation and will be going to the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, he said car #1 needed to have two batteries replaced and car #8 needed two rear tires, an alignment and oil change.
Road Supervisor Chris Bosworth was not present at the meeting, but submitted a report for Trustee Dennis Giambroni to give. In his report, Bosworth said that the road department was preparing for chip and seal and would also be picking up the broom attachment to sweep the roads. He requested approval for overtime for department employees to get the sweeping done. The trustees approved up to 10 hours of overtime per employee.
Bosworth submitted two estimates for tree trimming on Boring Lane — one for $2,800 and the other for $2,000. The trustees approved the $2,000 estimate submitted by J and K Tree Services.
Bosworth also submitted prices for paint for center line striping on Annesley and Westfield roads. The trustees approved the line striping and are considering the less costly of the two paints at $665 per mile for two miles. Giambroni will discuss the paints with Bosworth before the final decision is made.
Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati in her report told the trustees that she has completed the 2027 budget and will be ready to meet department heads next week to go over it and that she anticipates having it ready for a budget hearing for the next trustees meeting. She noted she will place the required information regarding the budget and budget hearing in the newspaper when the date is officially set.
She also noted that she has been performing day-to-day activities and completed the April bank reconciliation.
Fire Chief Jacob Russell was not present at the meeting and had no report.
Marion Perkins, Litter Control Program, told the trustees the courts will provide him with two people to help with litter pickup. No dates have been set for litter pick up yet.
The trustees approved the minutes from the May 12 meeting, payment of bills totaling $48,782.14 and adopted a resolution to supplement appropriations for the Fire District Fund in the amount of $1,600 for repair and maintenance line item.
The Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meets every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the administration building, 2485 Boring Lane. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 9.
