Lisbon Cemetery Spring Notice
All winter decorations must be removed by March 1 from the Lisbon Cemetery in order to begin spring clean-up. Fixed saddles and vases can remain on monuments, but any items on the ground will be discarded. Also a reminder no items are to be placed on the ground until after May 1. No shepherd hooks or other non-floral decorations (example: solar lights) are to be placed in the ground.
Little Loves community supper
Little Loves Learning Center, 1431 N. Ellsworth Ave., Salem, will hold a community take-out supper from 4 to 6 p.m. or sold out March 4. Salem Historical Society meeting
The March Membership meeting for the Salem Historical Society, scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, has been canceled. The April meeting is scheduled for April 14 at 7 p.m. The society’s by-laws have been revised and members will review proposed changes and vote on accepting said changes. Monthly meetings are free and open to the public every second Tuesday of each month from April through December. After a brief business meeting, the society sponsors a program where guests have the opportunity to hear from various speakers who love and share their knowledge of historical places and events. The meeting room is in the lower level of the Dale Shaffer Research Library with the door facing 239 S. Lundy Ave. Parking is available in the municipal lot across the street. Banquet in Salem
The Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building will be sponsored by Friends of the Banquet. The menu will include fried chicken, diced potatoes with onions and peppers, corn, fresh vegetables and fruit, and pudding. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. Baked steak dinner
Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church will host a baked steak dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. March 11. The dinner consists of baked steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, cole slaw, green beans and dessert. Cost is $12 for adults and $6.50 for children. Sit down or carry out. For orders call 330-532-2000.
ESCEO Education Job Fair
The Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio will host a Education Job Fair on Tuesday, March 17. Nineteen local schools and educational organizations will attend the event scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. at the center, 7320 N. Palmyra Road in Canfield. Recent and upcoming graduates in education, credentialed teachers, substitute teachers, classroom assistants, bus drivers, speech language pathologists, school psychologists, and more can meet with recruiters and district administrators to learn about opportunities available in the area. School districts and educational organizations attending include: Austintown Local School District, Boardman Local School District, East Liverpool City School District, East Palestine City School District, ESC of Eastern Ohio, Lowellville Local School District, Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD), Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments (MVRCOG), Newton Falls EV School District, Poland Local School District, Potential Development, Sebring Local School District, Struthers City School District, United Local School District, Warren City School District, West Branch Local School District, Western Reserve Local School District, Youngstown City School District and Youngstown Community School. MVLNA annual spring clinic
The Mahoning Valley Landscape and Nursery Association (MVLNA) invites landscapers and nursery growers to attend its annual Spring Clinic, featuring a full day of education, networking, and industry updates. The program will take place Wednesday, March 4, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ohio State University Extension – Mahoning County, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore a tradeshow featuring vendor displays and the latest industry products and services. The 2026 MVLNA Spring Clinic will showcase an extensive lineup of speakers from Ohio State University Extension and the green industry. Sessions will include a roundtable discussion on how MVLNA can better support members, along with updates on turf management, industrial vegetation control, ornamental insects and IPM, and new and exciting trees and shrubs for the landscape. Look Nook Lazy Doodle pop-up
The Look Nook Gift Shop at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is hosting a special one-day Pop-Up Shop with The Lazy Doodle on Friday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A large assortment of St. Patrick’s Day and Easter themed merchandise, custom apparel and novelty items will be available for purchase. Cash, credit card, Venmo and Apple Pay will be accepted. Twenty percent of all proceeds from the sale will be donated back to support patient care at SRMC. Salem traffic signal updates
The Ohio Department of Transportation will be updating the traffic signal system at 12 intersections within the city of Salem. Traffic will be maintained at all times throughout the project. The completion date is spring 2026.
