Backyard Maple Syrup Production Workshop
Community members interested in producing their own maple syrup at home are invited to attend the upcoming Backyard Maple Syrup Production Workshop hosted by OSU Extension Mahoning County. This hands-on class will be held Thursday, Jan. 15 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the OSU Extension office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield. Designed for beginners and hobbyists, this workshop will guide participants through the complete process of small-scale maple syrup production. The event will feature both indoor instruction and outdoor demonstrations, providing participants with practical experience to confidently produce syrup at home. The registration fee is $20 per person, which includes supplies and all instructional handouts. Participants will learn: when, where, and how to tap maple trees; proper sap handling and boiling techniques; safe finishing and packaging; and Maple tree care and management.
