Crestview building plans will be shared during community updates
COLUMBIANA — The Crestview Local School District will be providing community updates in the near future regarding its new building construction project.
Superintendent Daniel Hill said during this month’s board of education meeting that the community updates will be coordinated with the Hammond and Holabird team in the coming weeks.
Hammond Construction Inc. is the company the board hired in December as the construction manager at risk for the project. At the same time, the board hired Holabird & Root Inc. for design and engineering services.
Hill also said during the recent board meeting that the levy/bond issue committee was given a glimpse of the schematic that is undergoing financial scrutiny and the future timeline of events.
While the bulk of the project is being funded by the state, the district asked voters to support a bond issue to help cover the cost of the new building.
The bond issue passed in 2019 and is expected to generate the district’s $5.2 million share of the $43.2 million project.
According to the most recent estimates from the Columbiana County Auditor, the bond issue is expected to generate $366,400 for the district during the next fiscal year, which begins in July.
The bond issue revenue is collected at 2.340 mills outside the 10 mill limitation and collection is not to exceed 35 years.
As for the project, Hill said that staff updates on timelines and schematics were shared in February.
A set date is yet to be scheduled for when the construction project will break ground, although prep work to the site has begun.
During the meeting the board approved a contract with Evans Land Clearing, LLC in the amount of $53,715 for tree clearing.
