COLUMBIANA – United got back on track in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 7-0 win over Columbiana on Thursday.
Quentin Taylor went six strong innings for the Eagles with 11 strikeouts, but sidestepped seven walks to preserve the shutout with the help of Jason Pratt who threw a scoreless seventh.
For the Eagles, Taylor had two hits and an RBI. Ryan Miller had a single and double. Ethan Newburn also had two hits.
Hunter Davanzo had two hits for Columbiana.
Ethan Lehnerd took the loss with five strikeouts and five walks in 4 2/3 innings.
United is 13-6 and 10-1 in the EOAC. The Eagles have one more league game remaining on May 13 at Lisbon. The Blue Devils also have only one loss in the league.
Columbiana is 9-11 and 7-3 in the league. The Clippers are at West Branch Saturday.

Lisbon 21, Wellsville 1
WELLSVILLE — Lisbon’s baseball team controls its own destiny in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference championship race.
On Thursday, the Devils defeated Wellsville 21-1 to move to 12-6 overall and 7-1 in the EOAC. Lisbon has four league games left, including a game at Columbiana on Monday and a home game against co-league leader United on Wednesday.
Ashton Hinchcliffe led the Devils with four hits including a double and triple with three RBIs. Devin Kelly added three hits, while Logan Sturgeon had two hits and four RBIs.
Bryce Esarey was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and a walk in three innings.
Wellsville fell to 0-14, 0-9 in the EOAC. Wellsville is at East Liverpool today.
Colin Kessler took the loss for the Tigers with three walks and no strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

Hubbard 6, Crestview 2
COLUMBIANA — Hubbard’s four-run fifth sealed the deal for Crestview in a 6-2 Eagle win on Thursday.
Eli Cope led the Rebels with two hits. Grant Snyder was the losing pitcher with two walks and no strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings.
Crestview is 12-7 and is at Warren JFK today.

East Palestine 5, Heartland 4
UNITY — East Palestine used a double play in the seventh inning to close out a Heartland threat in a 5-4 win on Thursday at Ace of Diamonds.
East Palestine was aided by Kealin Simon’s two hits and an RBI. Peyton Rutledge had a double.
Mason Gorby was the winning pitcher in relief with four strikeouts and three walks in four innings.
Evan Farrell took the loss for Heartland with a walk and five strikeouts over six innings.
East Palestine (8-9) is at Southern on Monday.
Heartland (8-10) is at Mathews on Wednesday.

Southern 13, Chaney 1
SALINEVILLE — Zac Mayfield and Mason Sosack had two hits each to help Southern down Chaney 13-1 in four innings on Thursday.
Sosack got the win with eight strikeouts and two walks in four innings.
Southern is 4-10 and hosts East Palestine on Monday.

BELOIT — Jeremiah Thomas struck out nine with no walks and five hits allowed in a 2-0 West Branch win over Salem on Thursday.
Drake Stryffeler led the Warriors with two hits including a triple with an RBI.
Andres had two hits for the Quakers. Bairon Exline took the loss with eight strikeouts and four walks over five innings.
West Branch is 6-11 and 2-8 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. The Warriors host Boardman today.
Salem is 2-16 and 1-9 in the EBC. The Quakers are at United on Monday.
