LISBON – Edward B. Bailey, 38, Allison Street, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty in Common Pleas Court to attempted aggravated arson, a third-degree felony. Sentencing is set for Feb. 4, when Bailey faces three years in prison, a $10,000 fine and a five-year license suspension. On April 11, 2021, Bailey attempted to cause a fire at 668 Riley Ave., East Liverpool.
Daniel Joseph Glista Jr., 41, Goshen Road, Salem, was sentenced to three years community control, including spending up to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center, for domestic violence for harming Bobbi Sue Crookston on Feb. 13.
Robert Allen Ford, 35, Harker Avenue, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree felony domestic violence charge. Sentencing is set for April 1, when he faces up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine. The charge was for harming Amanda Marie Boyd on Jan. 1, 2021.
An unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge against Phillip R. Cline, 48, West Wilson Street, Salem, was dismissed. Cline had been bound over to the grand jury on the charge.
Municipal
LISBON – In county Municipal Court, Louis Rosensteel, 55, Greensburg, Pa., was bound over to the grand jury on charges of compelling prostitution, tampering with evidence, possession of criminal tools and obstructing official business. A charge of resisting arrest was dismissed. On Jan. 5 Rosensteel allegedly responded to an advertisement, offering to purchase sex from a 16-year-old prostitute for $100. Rosensteel reportedly drove to East Palestine and messaged the girl he was there, asking her to come outside to meet him. When a member of the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force (MVHTTF) approached, Rosensteel reportedly began deleting messages from his phone and refused to turn off the engine or step out of the vehicle. Rosensteel drove off and allegedly nearly dragged the officer, Dan Haueter, who had his arm inside the vehicle attempting to remove him.
A Jan. 20 preliminary hearing was set for David G. Muntean, 40, Raley Road, New Waterford, charged with a fifth-degree felony violation of a protection order charge. On Jan. Tuesday, Muntean allegedly called his 17-year-old son and left a voice mail, when there is a protection order served to Muntean on Nov. 2.
Marcus J. Jarvis, 27, Maplehill Road, Salineville, was bound over to the grand jury for a tampering with evidence charge for allegedly grabbing a firearm and throwing it behind the couch at the house when he knew the sheriff was at the door serving a warrant with the Columbiana County Drug Task Force on Jan. 5.
Keith A. Mohney Jr., 24, West Garfield Road, Columbiana, was fined $1,150, had his license suspended for three years, required 40 hours community service and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 40 suspended, 30 days at the jail and another 110 days on electronically monitored house arrest for OVI third offense and speeding.
Tricia M. Heasley, 50, Leffingwell Road, Canfield, was fined $1,100, had her license suspended for 180 days and sentenced to three days in jail for marked lanes and OVI first offense amended from second offense. An improper registration citation was dismissed.
A Feb. 14 pretrial was set for Ross E. Betts, 32, state Route 172, East Rochester, cited with OVI second offense and reckless operation.
A Feb. 24 pretrial was set for Brandon Ray Bankston, 27, South Walnut Street, East Palestine, charged with OVI first offense and traffic control devices.
A March 8 pretrial was set for Daniel E. Goist, 34, Youngstown, charged with OVI first offense and lighted lights required.
A March 1 pretrial was set for Traci A. Murphy, 39, Chester Avenue, Wellsville, charged with OVI first offense, marked lanes and expired registration.
Paula J. Miller, 63, Gavers Road, Hanoverton, was fined $925, had her license suspended for a year, required to attend a three-day counseling program and ordered 20 hours community service for OVI first offense and failure to control.
A March 28 pretrial was set for Joseph J. Schratt Jr., 49, Cleveland Street, Salem, charged with engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools for allegedly offering to pay an undercover agent with the MVHTTF $100 for sex and driving to meet the agent with the iPad used to set up the transaction on Dec. 30.
A Feb. 24 pretrial was set for Kenneth S. Parker, 55, Streetsboro, charged with engaging in prostitution, possession of criminal tools and possession of drug paraphernalia. Parker allegedly drove to Salem on Jan. 5 to meet an undercover agent from the MVHTTF, whom he believed he was meeting for sexual conduct in exchange for a gram of crack cocaine. Parker reportedly had both an iPhone 7 used to arrange the illegal act and a black and silver pipe for smoking cocaine.
A March 14 pretrial was set for Ronald Duncan, Hawkins Lane, Columbiana, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly using his phone to request sex in exchange for $150 from someone he thought was a woman, but was actually an agent with the MVHTTF on Jan. 3.
A March 15 pretrial was set for Francesco Sortini, 56, Niles, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly driving to Salem on Dec. 22 after offering an undercover officer from the MVHTTF $100 for sex by using his iPhone 11.
Anthony T. Lake, 46, Cleveland, was fined $780, had his license suspended for a year and sentenced to five days in jail for driving under OVI suspension and improper registration.
Malik P. Pullie, 24, Commerce Street, Wellsville, was fined $700 and required 20 hours community service for possession of marijuana, speeding and two counts of driving under suspension. A second speeding citation was dismissed.
A Jan. 24 pretrial was set for Timothy Boggs, North Pleasant Drive, East Palestine, charged with assault for allegedly grabbing the neck of Ashley Mercer at a Raley Road, New Waterford, home on Wednesday.
A Feb. 17 pretrial was set for Beth A. Hale, 36, Deming Street, Salem, charged with falsification. On Nov. 8, 2020, Halle allegedly gave Mayor John Berlin of Salem a letter regarding her arrest on Sept. 3, 2020, in which she reportedly made multiple false accusations about what happened that were dispelled after the police chief and another supervisor reviewed the footage on the body camera.
A March 21 pretrial was set for Sloan Rudibaugh, 20, East 11th Street, Salem, and Gabrielle Gibson, 20, Heritage Lane, Salem, charged with prohibited acts and underage consumption. The two women went into the Suburban Market on Dec. 30, with Rudibaugh allegedly purchasing a 12-pack of Cayman Jack and a can of Arnold Palmer Spiked Tea utilizing a fake ID and Gibson allegedly purchasing a 12-pack of Bang Hard Seltzer.
Angela M. Bompadre, 33, Beeson Street, Alliance, was fined $350, credited with four days in jail, sentenced to an additional six days in jail and required 40 hours community service for theft for using a 97-cent ice cream scoop sticker to scan three larger items totaling $190 at the Salem Walmart on June 16.
Zachary T. Cox, 23, Woodland Avenue, Columbiana, was fined $500 for two counts of disorderly conduct, one amended from aggravated menacing and the other from telephone harassment. Following an altercation between them in October, Cox allegedly continued to threaten Michael Smith, including by text message.
Khrystelle Pavlick, 26, Youngstown, was fined $330 for a stop sign violation and two counts of driving under suspension.
A Jan. 24 pretrial was set for Chrystal G. Hamilton, 32, West Pershing Street, Salem, charged with obstructing justice for allegedly telling police she did not know anything about two guitars and an amp valued at $300 taken from a neighbor’s back yard on Dec. 24, when the items were actually inside her house along with people, including her boyfriend, who allegedly took the guitars and a person with a warrant, who she had not told police were there.
A March 14 pretrial was set for Chase M. Hoperich, 25, Somerset Drive, Salem, charged with obstructing official business for allegedly hiding a bag of suspected marijuana and glass narcotics pipe in the trash can while members of the Columbiana County Drug Task Force were entering the home with a warrant on Jan. 5.
A Jan. 18 pretrial was set for Jeffrey J. Pitzer, 62, Rose Avenue, Salem, charged with receiving stolen property for allegedly having a red pillow with surfboards in his apartment on Jan. 9, which had been reported stolen by the owner Rebecca Carrocce on Jan. 8.
A Jan. 24 sentencing hearing was set for William Curtis, 29, 14th Street, Wellsville, who pleaded no contest to a charge of obstructing official business. Curtis was charged for lying to police when he knew a 16-year-old girl, who had run away, was actually at his home where he had agreed to let her stay on Thursday. His bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Shane A. Reed, 34, Panama City, Fla., was fined $400 for unauthorized plate, obstructing a grade crossing and no license.
A Jan. 20 pretrial was set for Kaylee R. Ruiz, 23, Carrollton, cited with driving under OVI suspension.
Kenneth G. Kleinknecht, 48, Lisbon Road, Leetonia, was fined $180 for failure to reinstate a license and expired plate.
Anthony D. Dobozy, 35, Leake Street, East Palestine, was fined $100 and credited with 17 days in jail for drug paraphernalia for multiple crack pipes on Dec. 27.
Edward W. Carlo, 21, Litchfield, was fined $150 for possession of marijuana.
Richard E. Williams, 67, state Route 39, Wellsville, was fined $150 for disorderly conduct amended from domestic violence for pulling Sharon Crawford by her arm down the hallway and locking her in the bedroom on Nov. 26.
A March 10 pretrial was set for John Williams II, 20, Hawley Avenue, Salem, cited with driving under suspension and failure to yield at an intersection.
An April 25 pretrial was set for Robert James O’Malley, 23, Youngstown, cited with possession of marijuana, no motorcycle endorsement, improper passing, expired license plates and speeding.
Steven Brannick, 57, Delroy, was fined $100 for speeding and expired license.
A Feb. 24 pretrial was set for Randy Paul Witherow, 54, Hanover Road, Salineville, cited with driving under suspension.
Mark A. Bowman, 26, Youngstown, was fined $100 for speeding.
Rammel Stanley Perry-Tisdale, 27, Market Street, East Liverpool, was fined $50 for speeding.
EL Municipal
EAST LIVERPOOL — A woman accused of assaulting another female and robbing her at Vista Motel last week is scheduled for a preliminary/pretrial hearing Jan. 20 in East Liverpool Municipal Court.
Megan McBride, 37, whose address was listed as the Vista Motel, is charged with robbery, a second-degree felony, and assault, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Bond was set at $7,500 cash or surety and she was ordered to have no contact with the victim Logan Winters.
Police were called to Vista Motel on Edwards Street on Jan. 3 for an assault, with the victim reporting she was attacked in a motel room by two people she knew, alleging that McBride got on top of her on the bed and struck her numerous times in the face, causing minor injuries. She also allegedly stole several items with another person.
A pretrial was set Jan. 20 for Shaunea Crute, 30, Midland, Pa., for two counts of complicity to petty theft, with bond set at $7,500 cash or surety. Charges stem from incidents at Walmart in Calcutta in 2014. A bench warrant and the case against Crute was reactivated after it was learned the defendant had been mistakenly declared dead.
A pretrial was set Jan. 20 for Josiah Swayngim, 41, Hookstown, Pa., charged with assault, criminal damaging and intoxication for allegedly attempting to cause physical harm to Terry Sprague on Jan. 13 on College Street in East Liverpool with a shopping cart and trying to kick in a door.
A pretrial was set Feb. 24 for Clinton Davis, 51, Harvey Avenue, charged with obstructing official business for allegedly hiding on the floor between the bed and dresser to keep from being found while a deputy was serving a warrant on Jan. 12 at his residence.
A pretrial was set Feb. 1 for Gregory Dray, 63, Longs Church Road, charged with failure to comply with a health department order to allegedly abate a nuisance on Aug. 18, including solid waste.
A pretrial was set Feb. 24 for Amy Cain, 47, Georgetown, Pa., charged with theft for allegedly altering price tags and stealing $144 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Calcutta on Jan. 9.
Amber Cataldo, 29, Independence Square, Wellsville, was fined $190 for driving under suspension, defective exhaust and plate light, with a review hearing March 18 regarding community service for the fine.
