EAST LIVERPOOL — In Municipal Court Friday, Cheryl A. Morris, 51, Wyoming Avenue, and Loretta A. Waugh, 47, Pyramus Road, Chester, W.Va., each fined $250 for illegal distribution of cigarettes.

Their charges stemmed from a Jan. 6 undercover operation by the Ohio Department of Public Safety during which a 14-year-old confidential informant was sent into the stores where they are cashiers and asked to purchase a package of Camel cigarettes, presenting only his state ID card which noted his age.

In Morris’ case, she was working at Uni Mart, 16067 state Route 170, East Liverpool, while Waugh was working at River City Fill Up, 2051 Lisbon St., when they each rang up and accepted money, $6.13 and $6.83, respectively, from the 14-year-old boy, according to reports.

Keith R. Shupp Jr., 24, South Washington Street, East Palestine, was fined $250 for no operator’s license, amended from driving under suspension. He was also fined $30 for speeding.

Daniel L. Canterbury, 29, Ohio Avenue, was fined $250 for driving under suspension.

A trial was set Feb. 6 for DaNeil Prentice, 26, Beaver Street, charged with possession of marijuana, fourth offense.

Second arraignments were set for Terry L. Riggs, 60, Grimm’s Bridge Road, charged with two counts of passing bad checks, Jan. 22; Thomas A. Campbell, 51, St. Clair Avenue, no operator’s license, second offense, March 8; Angel N. Ours, 24, West Fourth Street, no operator’s license, Feb. 22; Michael A. J. Ross, 28, Michigan Avenue, illegal plates and expired tags, Jan. 22; and Jay D. Hackathorn, 47, Independence Square, Wellsville, no operator’s license and no plate light, Feb. 15.

Pretrials were scheduled for Christopher J. Farnsworth, 47, Fenton Street, charged with no operator’s license, sixth offense, Feb. 13; Amy S. Desimone, 48, Alpha Street, obstructing official business, petty theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, third offense, Jan. 24; and Fred A. Moore Jr., 42, Fife Coal Road, Wellsville, no operator’s license, second offense, Feb. 28.
