St. Clair Township

— After responding to an alarm at Aldi’s on state Route 170 on Dec. 7, officers found the alarm to be tripped by the delivery driver.

— A female driver had to park her car and call a taxi, after officers spoke with her in the Sheetz parking lot and told her she had been followed by another vehicle and reported to be driving recklessly. The female driver had a suspended license with privileges but what she was driving for did not according to officers meet the privileges criteria.

— Officers responded to an unlocked door at United Rentals. They entered and cleared the building. Dispatch then told the officers they spoke with the key holder and were told to leave it unlocked.

Leetonia

— Police marked a home in th 300 block of State Street for EMS response, so medical personnel could enter through a back alley at 9:03 p.m. Dec. 7.

— A welfare check was performed for a woman who resides on Pine Street shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Continental Drive at 10:49 p.m. Thursday to check on a man pulling a truck in the parking lot of the former Donnell Ford building. The man advised that he was working out.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 10:23 p.m. Thursday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that the person was at the drive-thru window and would not leave despite being asked. Contact was made with the person who advised that she ordered food, but the restaurant would not give it to her. Contact was made with the employees inside, who advised that they had been told not to come back within the past month. However, she was never criminally trespassed by law enforcement. Officers trespassed the woman, completing a criminal trespass form and she was provided with options for obtaining a refund and she left.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 5:57 p.m. Thursday for a reported runaway juvenile. The parents of the juvenile advised that they told their son he couldn’t play video games, and he got mad and left. Officers knew what the juvenile looked like due to multiple incidents prior and received a description of what he was wearing when he left. Officers checked the surrounding area including multiple houses where he could have been but were unable to contact him. The juvenile’s mother then called in and advised officers he called her and advised he was at Hunt Club Lanes, and she was going to pick him up. Officers stood by until the juvenile was picked up by his mother.

— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 5:06 p.m. Thursday for a reported civil dispute. It was discovered that the problem was occurring outside city limits. The woman was advised to contact the proper law enforcement agency.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Hawley Avenue at 3:55 p.m. Thursday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that her mother was being harassed by a family member calling and screaming at her over the phone. The family member in question was reported to be a granddaughter whom the family has had no contact with for years. No address nor phone number could be located for the person as the phone number they were calling from was untraceable. The caller wanted a report on file for their attorney, and officers advised them of their options.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 3:28 p.m. Thursday for a reported dog bite. The caller advised an employee was bitten by a customer’s dog, suffering a small bite mark and some bruising. The owner of the dog reported that the associate accidentally hit the cart which she believes caused the dog to bite. Photos were obtained of the bite mark, and the case will be forwarded to the health department.

— Officers responded to the area of North Union Avenue and East Third Street at 2:47 p.m. Thursday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a prisoner who escaped from the Salem Regional Medical Center. It was advised that a woman who was in custody ran out of the hospital while the sheriff’s office was preoccupied with additional duties, and broke off their ankle monitor prior to escaping northbound across East State Street. Officers located the woman running westbound in the 1400 block of East Third Street, detaining her without incident, and first responders came to the scene to check on their well-being. The sheriff’s office responded a short time later to take them back into custody.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Franklin Avenue at 1:58 p.m. Thursday for a reported vehicle in an alleyway blocking the entrance to houses. Officers located the driver and the vehicle was moved.

— Tammy Cook, 54, Boardman, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Raymond Householder, 43, Toronto, while turning out of a private parking lot at 12:41 p.m. Thursday.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of Southeast Boulevard at 9:38 a.m. Thursday for a reported structure fire. The Salem Fire Department and multiple area departments arrived and extinguished the flames. As a result, the structure was a total loss. One dog and two cats did perish during the incident, but no residents were injured.
