The victim did not want to pursue charges and there were no markings to indicate serious harm. The matter was between a guardian and a juvenile so both parties were consulted separately about a solution for the night.
-- Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue at 12:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a person on the ground. Officers located the person, which was later found to be a juvenile who initially tried to walk away from officers and eventually stopped and talked to officers. The juvenile appeared to be intoxicated and was transported home, and officers spoke with his guardian about the matter.
-- Officers responded to the area of Spring Street and Arch Street at 11:21 p.m. Saturday for a reported fireworks complaint. Officers checked the area but did not observe any fireworks being set off.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of North Broadway Avenue at 5:50 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a man sitting in his vehicle for an extended period of time. Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle who advised he was okay and pulled over to use his phone.
-- A juvenile driver was cited for failure to yield after their southbound vehicle on Southeast Boulevard failed to yield while making a left-hand turn causing it to be struck by a vehicle driving northbound on Southeast Boulevard by Misty Breault, 32, Salem, at 5:03 p.m. Sunday. The light had turned yellow for both drivers, and both vehicles were towed by Sinsley Towing. Both drivers declined transport by EMT for further medical evaluation for possible minor injuries.
-- Officers observed a juvenile lying in the middle of the roadway in the 400 block of East Sixth Street at 3:37 a.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with the juvenile who had made threats to harm himself. First responders were called, and the person was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
-- Officers responded to the 2000 block of Monroe Street at 11:59 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers were able to hear a man yelling inside the apartment, and contact was made with both parties inside who advised that they were involved in a verbal dispute about relationship issued. Both were advised to quiet down for the evening.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of Prospect Street at 11:50 p.m. Monday for a report of people looking into cars. Officers checked the area but could not locate them. The caller advised that nothing was damaged or missing on his property.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of North Madison Avenue and Bentley Drive at 10:50 p.m. Monday observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and officers made contact with the driver Tristan Apinis, 38, Salem, and had K-9 Simon respond and conduct a free air sniff, indicating the presence of contraband. Contraband was located with assistance from the Columbiana Police Department, and Apinis was taken into custody. Officers transported the driver to the police department for processing and then transported him to the Columbiana County Jail. The contraband will be turned over to the Columbiana County Drug Enforcement Task Force.
