Holiday Lights Trolley Tour
Registration opens at 9 a.m. today for the Holiday Lights Trolley Tour Dec. 16. The first tour departs the Salem Public Library at 6 p.m., with subsequent tours departing every 30 minutes, the final one at 9:30 p.m. There will be refreshments and activities at the library before and after the ride. Participants are advised to dress accordingly. The trolley will leave exactly at one's registered time; in order to fit all riders in the trolley, participants must be on the trolley at their registered time, the trolley will not wait if people are late and room on a later ride cannot be guaranteed. This event is free of cost and open to the public. Advanced registration is required and can be completed at www.SalemPublicLibrary.org. Those who require assistance with the registration process may call the Salem Public Library at 330.332.0042. Participants must register for a specific departure time and for the exact number of people in their party, with a maximum of eight riders per party.
Cooking event at Salem Library
The second cooking event in the Salem Public Library's winter adult cooking series will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11, featuring cranberry orange scones and coconut hot chocolate. Participants will work together to make scones and yummy hot chocolate. Participants will learn about the cranberry plant, its history and nutritional profile. As a bonus, they'll sample a variety of cranberry products including fresh, dried, sweetened-dried cranberries along with cranberry sauce. Just in time for the holiday season, this program is free of cost and open to the public. Advanced registration is required for this event and can be completed on the library's website, www.SalemPublicLibrary.org. Expect a call to confirm attendance two or three days in advance, due to high demand for the cooking events. Those who require assistance with registration, call the library at 330-332-0042. Those who want to take those cookies and hot chocolate home with them should bring suitable containers for transport.
Guerrieri to perform Dec. 10
Guitarist Tyler Guerrieri will perform at Salem Public Library from 2 to 3 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Reading Room as part of the library's series, A Little Live Music. A popular local performer, Guerrieri's performances can be found on social media. Registration is not required for this event. Drop-on anytime during the hour hear him.
Holiday Art Show
The Carriage House, 509 Broadway, is once again hosting a Holiday Art Show in connection with Saturday's events in Downtown East Liverpool. The show is free to attend from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be served. The show will feature the works of local artists Barrie Archer, Penny Chevront, Jeanie Gordon, Nancy Hawkins, Rebecca Hawkins, Christi Kacvinsky, Carol Liebschner, Sheri Liebschner and Christa McIntosh.
Banquet in Salem
Salem City employees will sponsor the dine in or drive thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Dec. 4 at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include Johnny marzetti, green beans, salad, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and cookies. Dine in will park behind the building and proceed to front door. Spoken Threads storytelling
Harbel's Market in Columbiana is teaming up with Spoken Threads storytelling to host a community storytelling gathering at 2 p.m. Sunday. Live music will be provided by The Conkle Brothers. "Spoken Threads storytelling gatherings are about community at its most basic," said Fritz Nelson, one of the gatherings' planners. "We put a microphone in the middle of the floor and invite anyone who wishes to tell a personal story in the first person. We welcome all stories and all storytellers. Everyone not telling a story pledges to listen. Every gathering has a theme, and we do ask that stories have some connection to the theme." The theme for this weekend's gathering is "Chaos around the table.
