ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Beaver Local’s wrestling team took second on Tuesday at the Buckeye 8 wrestling tournament. Winning for the Beavers was Jordan Bates at 106 pounds, Bobby Buchheit at 144 and Nick Marra at 190. Barnesville won four weight classes to take first with 270 1/2 points. ST. CLAIRSVILLE — East Liverpool’s boys bowling team finished seventh on Tuesday at the Div. II sectional tournament at St. Clair Lanes. The Potters scored 3,397 which was 10 pins off of sixth place. The six district qualifying teams were Barnesville (3,932), Union Local (3,775), River View (3,678), Harrison Central (3,487), Conotton Valley (3,473) and Indian Valley (3,407). Rambo gets PAC honor NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Westminster College senior and Crestview High School graduate Shelby Rambo was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday. Rambo won the shot put at Susquehanna’s River Hawk Friday Night Showdown, topping the 41-thrower field with a toss of 40-feet-4 on her fifth throw. KENT — United’s girls bowling team placed sixth on Sunday at the Div. II sectional bowling tournament at Spins Bowl. The Eagles scored 2,889 on the day. Zariah Elrod was the top Eagle with a 447 series which was good enough for 19th. Keira Bryan took 21st with a 441 series. Heartland Christian’s top bowler was Wade Morgan who took 35th (392). Southern shoots for perfect season

SALINEVILLE — Southern Local’s girls basketball team is set to go for an outright Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title and the school record for wins in a season on Wednesday as the Indians host Columbiana. The Indians are 21-0 after a 49-40 win over Caldwell on Saturday in the OVAC Class 2A final at the ECO Center. It was the first OVAC championship for the school. LEAVITTSBURG — Led by Ella Kuszmaul’s 17 points, LaBrae won a share of its first league title in 45 years with a 64-52 win over Crestview on Monday in girls basketball action. After an even first quarter, the home team put the pedal down and had a lead of 12 at the half and 12 at the end of the third quarter. LaBrae is 19-2 and 13-1 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division. The Rebels fall to 19-2 and 13-1 in the conference.
