Salem 47, Beaver Local 21 CALCUTTA — Salem outscored Beaver Local 16-0 in the second quarter to highlight the Quakers’ 47-21 win Wednesday. The Quakers finish the regular season at 12-10. The Beavers finish at 8-14, including a 1-5 mark against Columbiana County opponents. Abby Knickerbocker scored eight of her 14 points in the second quarter to go along with 10 rebounds. DOVER — The East Liverpool girls bowling team advanced out of the Division II sectional tournament Wednesday at Boulevard Lanes. The Potters finished third with 2,770 pins. The top six teams and top six individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the district tournament at Legacy Lanes in Coshocton on Feb. 19. Joining the Potters at the district tournament are sectional champion River View (3,311), Carrollton (2,983), Harrison Central (2,769), Sugarcreek Garaway (2,760) and Minerva (2,732). McKinley reaches 2,000 CANTON — The Canton McKinley boys basketball program became the first in Ohio to reach 2,000 wins. The Bulldogs beat North Canton Hoover, 64-59, at the Canton Fieldhouse on Tuesday. Canton McKinley, the Federal League champion, is 17-3 on the season with losses to Akron Hoban, Alliance and Cleveland St. Ignatius. The Bulldogs boys basketball team has a record of 2,000-687-2 (a 74.4 winning percentage) in 126 seasons.
