SALINEVILLE -- Southern Local's girls basketball team is set to go for an outright Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title and the school record for wins in a season on Wednesday as the Indians host Columbiana.
The Indians are 21-0 after a 49-40 win over Caldwell on Saturday in the OVAC Class 2A final at the ECO Center. It was the first OVAC championship for the school.
Columbiana (17-4) can earn a share of the league title with a win.
The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised live at the WKBN Game of the Week on MyYTV.
Against Caldwell on Saturday, Allyssaa Shroades hit six threes on her way to a team-high 27 points. She added five steals. Freshman Katie Kellogg added 11 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and six steals. Kalayah Crute was solid on the boards with nine points and eight rebounds.
The Indians earned the No. 5 seed in the Northeast district tournament on Sunday at will host the winner of No. 22 Hillsdale and No. 29 Black River at 7 p.m. on Feb. 19 in a sectional final. If the Indians should win that game, they'll host the winner of No. 10 Columbia Station and No. 31 Medina Christian at 7 p.m. on Feb. 24. The district final is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 28 at Girard.
