Carter, who works as a chef at Franciscan University in Steubenville, is expected to be officially named at Monday’s board of education meeting. The Beavers, playing without injured 6-foot-7 All-Ohioan Owen Hill, dropped a 65-50 decision to South Range. SALEM — Salem athletic director Matt Freeman said the school district was caught off guard when it found out that Carrollton, Minerva and Marlington were leaving the Eastern Buckeye Conference for a new league.
