Beavers score Suburban win

CANFIELD — The Beaver Local boys came out on top of Suburban League cross country action Tuesday at the Youngstown State University Course across from the Canfield Fairgrounds. The Beavers topped the 10-team field with 48 points. McDonald was second with 96 points and Columbiana third with 97. Luke Warrick led the Beavers with a second-place finish behind McDonald's Owen Cappuzello. The Beavers had three of the top nine runners with Mason Boggs in eighth and Cole Long in ninth. SALEM — Salem's boys soccer team scored a 5-0 win over Minerva on Tuesday. The Quakers are 4-3-1, while Minerva sunk to 4-5. Salem led 4-0 at the half. Salem is set to host Carrollton next Tuesday. COLUMBIANA — Three Columbiana golfers shot in the 30s Tuesday in a 153-158 win over Youngstown Mooney at Valley. The Clippers improve to 18-0 heading into the OVAC Tournament on Thursday.
