Quakers climb in state poll

COLUMBUS — Salem's football team jumped two spots in the latest Associated Press Div. III state poll released on Tuesday. The 5-0 Quakers are eighth after a thrilling 33-27 overtime win over Beaver Local last Friday. Salem also sits first in the Div. III, Region 9 computer rankings. Steubenville (4-1) is ranked fourth in the Div. III Associated Press poll. Salem will travel to Minerva on Friday for its second Eastern Buckeye Conference game of the season. RAVENNA — West Branch and Crestview's boys golf teams completed their seasons on Tuesday in the Div. II sectional tournament at Windmill Lakes. West Branch finished 10th with a 386. For the Warriors, Karson Fuson had a 93, Bennett Biggs 96, Dylan Huntsman 97 and Ashton Clay 100. Crestview was 13th with a 424. Beavers on way to OVAC final

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local's boys soccer left no doubt on Tuesday with a 9-3 win over John Marshall in an OVAC Class 5A semifinal at Pastore Field. The Beavers (10-0-1) will meet Wheeling Park (10-0-2) at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Clairsville in the OVAC final. Park beat Steubenville 2-1 in the other semifinal.
