CALCUTTA -- Beaver Local’s boys soccer left no doubt on Tuesday with a 9-3 win over John Marshall in an OVAC Class 5A semifinal at Pastore Field.
The Beavers (10-0-1) will meet Wheeling Park (10-0-2) at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Clairsville in the OVAC final. Park beat Steubenville 2-1 in the other semifinal.
Logan Roberts started the scoring at the 35:10 mark of the first half. Lucas Price scored at 25:04 then Cael Dunn registered Beaver Local’s third goal on an assist by Kaden Mays with 19:29 to go in the first half. J.T. Milhoan added the fourth with 14:12 to go off an assist from Roberts. Brody Nign’s long looping shot was Beaver’s fifth goal with 12:06 left in the first half. Mays had the sixth on an assist from Brandon Smith with 8:10 left in the first half. Dunn got his second and Beaver’s seventh on a long free kick with 17 seconds left in the half.
In the second half, Mays scored his second off an assist from Roberts to make it 8-2 with 35:14 left in the game. Dunn tallied his third off an assist from Smith with 25:48 to go.
COLUMBIANA 1, STEUBENVILLE CC 0
COLUMBIANA -- Geoffrey Malcolmson scored with a minute left in the game to lift Columbiana to a 1-0 win over Steubenville Catholic Central in an OVAC Class 1-3A semifinal Tuesday at the Ward Athletic Complex.
The Clippers and Crusaders played to a 0-0 draw on Sept. 17.
Columbiana (7-3-1) will play the winner of Shenandoah and Wheeling Central Catholic at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Wheeling Island Stadium.
OAK GLEN 3, ST. CLAIRSVILLE 1
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Oak Glen punched its ticket to the OVAC Class 4A boys soccer final with a 3-1 win over Union Local on Tuesday at St. Clairsville.
St. Clairsville won the early semifinal with a 6-3 win over Harrison Central.
Oak Glen (6-4) and St. Clairsville (8-4) will play at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Weir High.
SALEM 5, CARROLLTON 0
SALEM -- Salem’s boys soccer team posted a 5-0 win over Carrollton on Tuesday.
Salem is 5-3-1 and 2-2 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference.
The Quakers are at Poland on Thursday.
UNITED 9, JACKSON-MILTON 0
HANOVERTON -- United cruised to a 9-0 win over Jackson-Milton on Monday in boys soccer action.
The Golden Eagles moved to 6-3-1.
Eight players scored for the Eagles, including Jude Andrea, Zach Blake, Gavin Coffee, Lucas Guilherme, Liam Jones, Anthony Russo, Marvin Schreiber and Dylan Williams. The ninth goal was an own goal by Jackson-Milton. Andrea also had four assists, Williams two and Coffee one. Aiden Gundersen had one save.
United is at Warren JFK on Thursday.
SALEM 6, CRESTVIEW 0
SALEM -- Salem’s girls soccer team defeated Crestview 6-0 on Monday. Ava Lee had two goals and two assists for the Quakers. Chaya Murray also had two goals. Maryn McFadden had a goal and assist. Peyton Jackson also scored. Emily Sinsley had one assist.
Salem is 7-4 and will go to Carrollton on Wednesday. Crestview is 6-5 and will be at Waterloo on Wednesday.
