COLUMBUS -- Salem’s football team jumped two spots in the latest Associated Press Div. III state poll released on Tuesday.
The 5-0 Quakers are eighth after a thrilling 33-27 overtime win over Beaver Local last Friday. Salem also sits first in the Div. III, Region 9 computer rankings. Steubenville (4-1) is ranked fourth in the Div. III Associated Press poll.
Salem will travel to Minerva on Friday for its second Eastern Buckeye Conference game of the season. Salem’s last five games will be against teams from the EBC.
Also in the EBC, West Branch (5-0) remained in the eighth spot in the Div. IV state poll. The Warriors were a 42-0 winner over Marlington last Friday and will step out of league to take on 1-4 Canfield on Friday.
In Div. VI, Northeast 8 power South Range (5-0) is ranked third in the state, one ahead of Kirtland (1-4). Elmore Woodmore (5-0) is 14th after beating Columbiana 34-7 last Friday.
