Clean sweep for West Branch

SALEM — West Branch girls basketball team closed out a perfect run in the Eastern Buckeye Conference with a 46-34 win over Salem on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors are 16-2 overall and 10-0 in the league. West Branch is ranked 12th in the state in Div. IV by the MaxPreps rankings.
Salem fell to 10-9 and 4-6 in the conference.
Madi Hoopes led the winners with 17 points.
Peyton Colbert led a balanced Salem attack with six points. Karlie Sampson had seven rebounds. Abby Knickerbocker added five points and 10 boards.
Salem will be at Crestview on Wednesday.
West Branch hosts Canfield on Wednesday. It will be broadcast as WKBN’s Game of the Week.

Western Reserve 48, Columbiana 35
COLUMBIANA — In a battle of two of the best small school girls basketball teams in the area, Western Reserve was able to come out on top with a 48-35 win over Columbiana on Saturday.
Quincy Miller guided the 19-1 Devils with 19 points, while Kylee Ramsey had 16 points. Western Reserve is ranked seventh in the state of Ohio in Div. VII by the MaxPreps RPI.
Annah Clemmer had 13 points for the Clippers who fell to 16-3.
Columbiana will be at Wheeling Central for an OVAC consolation game today.

SALEM –Salem’s boys basketball team closed out senior night with a 64-56 win over Niles on Saturday.
Deontay Steele led the Quakers with 25 points, five rebounds and three assists. Ty Manion added 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Salem is 4-11 and will be at Beaver Local on Tuesday.

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s boys basketball team suffered a 55-40 setback to Western Reserve on Saturday night.
The Clippers were outscored 14-3 in the first quarter and could not recover.
Cooper Brown posted 14 points to lead the Clippers, 14-3.
Connor Cochran led the Blue Devils (12-5) with 18 points.
Columbiana is at Wellsville on Tuesday.

CANTON — West Branch’s boys basketball team overcame a six-point deficit in the first quarter to down Canton South 40-36 on Saturday.
Gavin Gregory led the charge with 22 points and 13 boards for the winners. Jeremiah Thomas added 16 points and three assists.
West Branch won the jayve game, 48-33. Joey Troyer had 12 points for the winners.
West Branch will be at Youngstown East on Tuesday.
