Beavers are on the ball

MCCONNELLSVILLE — Beaver Local’s boys soccer team scored a 1-0 win over McConnellsville Morgan in a Div. IV district semifinal on Tuesday.
The No. 5 seeded Beavers improved to 11-5-2 and will play No. 2 seeded River View at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Carrollton for the district title.
Morgan, the fourth seed, ended its season at 14-5.
After going 0-2-2 in its final four regular season matches, the Beavers have outscored their tournament opponents 9-0.
River View is 8-5-5 this season and finished fourth behind Morgan in the Muskingum Valley Conference. The Black Bears beat Morgan 2-0 in the regular season.
West Branch 8, Woodridge 0
BELOIT — West Branch’s girls soccer team turned in its 13th shutout of the season with an 8-0 victory over Woodridge in a Div. IV district final on Tuesday.
Alinee Bacconi and Elli Colian had two goals each for Branch (15-0-2). Sammi Beatty, Caidee Schroeder, Allie Brammer and Cambrie Nezbeth also had goals. Colian, Beatty and Schroeder had assists.
Goalie Audrey Eaton, who made five saves, tied the school record for shutouts in a career.
The No. 2 seeded Warriors will play No. 10 Chagrin Falls for the district title at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Jefferson.
Chagrin Falls enters the match on an eight-game winning streak.
Fairview 1, Salem 0
SALEM –No. 15 seed Fairview Park Fairview stunned No. 8 seed Salem 1-0 on an overtime goal on Tuesday in a Div. IV district semifinal.
The Quakers ended the season 12-3-4, while Fairview is 9-6-3.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 14 seed Orrville pulled off a 1-0 upset over No. 6 Tuslaw to advance to the final set for 1 p.m. on Saturday at Parma Padua.
