STEUBENVILLE — No one has been able to keep up with the Beaver Local volleyball team this season.
The Beavers improved to 8-0 and have won 22 straight games after sweeping Steubenville, 25-21, 25-16, and Weir, 25-21, 25-8, at the Crimson Center on Saturday.
Beaver Local leaders against Steubenville were Addie Thurik with 10 kills, Bria Boyd 30 assists and six digs, Eva McKnight seven kills, Giada Williams three kills, Karsyn Bowyer three aces and 12 digs, Lily Schrieber four kills and 10 digs, Sydney McNear nine kills and Taylor Pease had four digs.
Against Weirton, Beaver Local’s Bria Boyd had three kills, 14 assist and four digs, Eva McKnight and Giada Williams each had six kills, Karsyn Bowyer five digs, Lily Schrieber 12 digs, Sydney McNear three kills and three digs and Perri Gilson three digs.
In the other match, Steubenville beat Weir, 25-23, 25-16.
Beaver Local also won both junior varsity matched, beating Steubenville, 25-11, 25-19, as Madison Poppelriter was the leading server and Gianna Congrove led the attack line, and then downing Weir, 25-23, 25-14.
Beaver Local returns to action today with the freshmen hosting Canfield at 4:30 p.m., followed by the junior varsity and varsity matches against Brooke.
Tusky Central 3, West Branch 1
BELOIT — Traditionally-strong Tuscarawas Central Catholic topped West Branch, 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 20-25, Saturday.
The Saints improve to 8-2, while the Warriors drop to 6-5.
West Branch leaders were Aislyn Ring with points, three aces, 13 assists and four digs; Abigail Janosik 10 kills, 13 digs, four points and three aces; Madi Hoopes 10 kills, four blocks and three digs; Kendelle Hoopes 10 points, four kills, 16 assists and 13 digs; Kendyll Kaley six points, three kills, four blocks and eight digs; Chloey Sanor four points, three assists and 12 digs; Audrey Ring six kills and three digs; Cailyn Fritz three kills and seven blocks.
West Branch won the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-12.
The Warriors will travel to Salem at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Columbiana frosh
CAMPBELL — The Columbiana freshman volleyball team posted two wins in a tri-match Saturday at Campbell Memorial.
The Clippbers beat Campbell Memorial, 25-17, 25-14. For the Clippers, Ella Eisenbraun had four aces and five kills, Callahan Ward four aces and two kills and Sylvia Rapp two aces and two kills.
Columbiana also topped Champion, 25-18, 25-19. The Clippers were led by Abby Barborak with nine aces, Ava Marks three aces and four kills and Mikah Montgomery three aces.
