County track meet Tuesday

SALEM — The 120th Columbiana County Track and Field Meet will be held Tuesday at Sebo Stadium.

Action will start at 4:30 p.m. with the boys discus and high jump and girls shot put and long jump. The running events will start at 5 p.m. with the finals of the 3200-meter relay.

The Salem girls have won six county titles in a row, while the United boys are coming off their first county title since 2008 and second in 31 years.

The county meet has been held every year since 1904, except for 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students and will be available at the gate.

Gregory plays for North

POWELL — West Branch’s Sophia Gregory and Carrollton’s Hillari Baker will be teammates on the North Team tonight at the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association’s North-South All-Star Game.

Action at Olentangy Liberty High School gets under way with the girls game at 6:30 p.m., with the boys game to follow.

Gregory is the fifth West Branch girls to play in the North-South Game. The 6-foot-2 senior is headed to YSU.

was a second-team Division II All-Ohio selection and the All-Area Player of the Year for a second time.

She guided the Warriors to a 23-3 record and the Eastern Buckeye Conference title.

Gregory led the Warriors for a third straight season in scoring (16.0), rebounds (7.8), assists (4.8), steals (3.5), blocks (2.0) and field goal percentage (a school-record 69.3%).

She accepted a full athletic scholarship to Youngstown State University.

POLAND — The 28th Poland Invitational will be held Saturday at Poland High School.

Twenty-four schools are entered, including Columbiana, Crestview, Salem, South Range and West Branch.

Action starts at 9 a.m. with the boys shot put and long jump and girls discus and high jump. The girls and boys 3200-meter run will be at 9:15 a.m., followed by the 3200-meter relay at 10:30 a.m. and the rest of the running events.
